Commonwealth Orthopaedic Centers opened new offices on Rt. 42, and normally I would say this is good for Florence residents. We need experienced orthopedic specialists. However, they "triple book" appointments. What this means is for every appointment at 8 am with every doctor, there are three patients. Same with 8:15 and 8:30 and throughout the day. I wrote to the CEO, JoAnn Reis, to complain I waited 90 minutes. She called me, and explained it is their business model. "We get paid so little" for each patient, she argued, that patient stacking is "necessary". I asked her what I can do to ensure being the first patient of the day. "Theres nothing" I can do, she said. It is necessary the doctor see as many patients as possible per hour throughout the day. She went further: "All the groups" patient stack around here. Patients must learn to wait. So patients must learn to pay doctors to waste our time with broken appointment times? Really? No. After thirty minutes past my appointment, Im sending them an invoice for My Time. If every patient does this, perhaps theyll respect appointment obligations. If not, its an unpaid debt against their business.

I had been to Common Wealth a few times for family broken bones and myself for two fractures. However when I went for a knee injury and nothing showed up on X-ray or MRI I felt basically dismissed as if my complaint of knee pain was made up. I was told there was nothing wrong with my knee and released from care. However there was something wrong and once I seen a different Ortho group I was diagnosed. I was unable to walk without excruciating pain and was not taken serious. I am happy to say I am now walking pain free. I will never go back to Common Wealth. I feel my best interest was NOT a priority.

Was recommended to see Dr. Baker after a injury at work at that resulted in whats called Gamekeepers thumb and was very nervous if I would be able to return back to the warehouse anytime soon. First appointment with Dr. Baker went very well and he is definitely my kind of people. The office and the staff at his office in Edgewood were great. Dr. Baker explained the course of treatment, the surgery went very well. Minimal downtime and now Im back at work with complete mobility. He is a prince of a man and one heck of a doctor.

My mom hurt her knee yesterday (Sunday) and can barely walk this am. We came to Commonwealth to be seen today without an appointment. The staff was professional, efficient, kind and talented! I cannot stress enough how easy and efficient the process was. It is 917am and we are almost out the door! She had an X-ray, saw a physician and is arranging follow up. Healthcare can be difficult to navigate in any situation but especially when youre hurting. Thanks to commonwealth for making it painless and easy!

I am basing this rating on surgery appointments. I had to wait the evening before the day of my surgery to know when my surgery would be the next day. This is absolutely ridiculous!! How do they expect to keep patients and have them plan their days around this crap?
