Please do not even think about taking your pet here. I was on vacation 4th of July my pet got into something toxic. Although the emergency line Dr. Amber was very helpful, there was no open emergency services. She told me I could call the next day ask for Candy and get seen asap. Now let me explain by this time my dog was lethartic still stick and had been poisioned for over 24 hours. I called 9am when they opened, my vet in Baltimore had left them a message at 845 am because they wanted 23 pages of medical history on my dog from my Baltimore vet before even seeing my dog who is puiking shaking wont eat and poisoned. I got upset and Candy said that "AVS emergency services is for clients" I said you would rather let my dog die then let me start to drive in there, I am an hour away you will get your faxes. She hung up on me saying I was getting upset with her. I was. Here my dog is ready to die and they are waiting on medical history, can you tell me what that has to do with toxic poison? My vet faxed 23 pages at 9am with a confirmation it was received. Still, Candy said she didnt get it. She also said it had to go to the vet for review before they even schedule an appointment. I said, "I am an hour away from you. You mean I cant start to come in there, by then you will get the faxes and you can get me in for this emergency?" She called me back at 345 to schedule me in. Schnitzel would have been dead by then. As it turns out the thanks to Houlton Animal Hospital on Court Street, who told me to rush him in asap, with any kind of poisoning its an emergency. After blood work and needles and fluids our pup was back to normal thank god . Aroostook Veterinary Services needs to shut their doors because they want to go through paperwork protocol in an emergency situation wherein their front staff lady Candy needs a lesson dealing with the public. It is a shame because Dr. Amber seemed so helpful and she needs to know that emergency situations should be treated differently. Also this hospital has an emergency line but no emergency services. They are not open on Saturday, wherein the other animal hopsitals vets will come in on an emergency and are open half day Sat. AVS should be out of business with this kind of services. It just proves they would rather let you pet die, how is that care of animals?

I have to say they are all great people. And there service is very professional. I had my chocolate lad put down for medical reasons and for as sad as it was they were there for you and your pet .

This place would rather an animal suffer than to work with average people financially
