Avoid this place! I took my dogs, Om and Meaka, to Dr. Shari Sprague at the Banfield in Petsmart at 602 Boulton Street, Bel Air, MD 2014 on 4/2/2011. Om, my pug, was having problems with wax build up in his ear and scratching at it a lot. I asked Ms. Sprague to look at it and she said some dogs just have a lot of ear wax. I asked if it was weird that it was just in his left ear and his right ear was pristine and she said that was ok. She said to just clean them with Q-tips occasionally. I trusted her and I did what she said for months and thought it was just another unfortunate side effect of being a pug, like skin fold infections. He seemed to be in more pain than normal even after I cleaned his ear this past Friday, 10/28/11. I took him to another veterinarian and she looked at his ear and even though I had cleaned it she said it didnt look right. She took a sample and it turns out he has a bacteria and yeast infection and has had it since before I went to Ms. Sprague at Banfield. I hadnt cleaned his ears before Ms. Sprague saw him so I would think that she should have been able to see the problem easier than my new vet. All of my pet owning friends said I shouldnt have taken my dogs to Banfield because they had "The vets that werent good enough to have their own place". I trusted the reputation of Petsmart and thought for sure a nation wide company would only have the best people. I was very wrong and thanks to my mistake my dog suffered for months. I will never go back to Banfield, and I will make sure that everyone that told me to avoid Banfield knows they were right. I will also make sure to tell everyone that owns a pet that they want to avoid Banfield at all costs, and especially the supposed "Dr." Shari Sprague.

My White Marsh Banfield could see my cat and told me to go here. I have a very sick cat knowing it was dehydrated and leg weakness. I explained my cat life summary and health. Shes a healthy cat except for very bad ear issues from being a rescue. He checked he said oh yes her ears have a lot going on Well the vet explained things that could be the problem. Im puzzeled but alarmed at the same time since they said a blood clot. I told them Im on limited funds he understood would work up a plan. Well the plan consisted of every blood test there was X-rays fluids etc to the tune of 900+ dollars. A tech came in to show me the plan at no time did the vet come in to explain to me which would be the best test to have at this time. I felt like I was at a car repair shop where they are trying to sell you repaid on a car! I chose some blood tests and fluid push for hydration. He never addressed her mites. He came in said he was surprised her blood test came back good. After getting home my cat was great like her old self until the next morning. I wish the vet would have come in to advise me on the best test to choose that would meet my funds. Evidently the X-rays would have been an option after seeing her this morning. It turned out another vet is treating her ear mites issue and she is eating now. Is this really the issue I dont know time will tell.

Dr sprague is wonderful..my dog was 16 when she passed but she would actually get excited to go see this vet for her routine maintenance.i also have two 14 year old cats that, to be honest, havent seen much of vets office as they havent needed anything..dr sprague is so sweet with them they dont mind at all when I bring them in for check ups now that theyre older and she really does understand that not everyone has to funds to get blood work or X-rays for things that just arent needed, unlike other vets offices weve been to..she truly is wonderful

I am extremely disappointed by the service at the office. Appointments are easy to get, but then you have to wait and wait to see the vet – I waited close to 2 hours. I bought the wellness plan – do not do this. It seems like a good deal until you are in it. Almost nothing is covered. They charge you for every test. It has cost me a fortune. Their prescriptions are about 2x more than what you can find at another vet or on line, and they do not honor the price match because they use a proprietary brand and claim it is not exactly the same.

As new pet parents of a rescued pit, several costly things came up at the Festival Vet Clinic and our questions were not answered. We were referred to Banfield by a friend and it was worth every penny to have our boy reevaluated and set up on the Wellness Plan. 4 visits later, we find that we are still excited that we made the decision to switch. We learned so much and feel such a connection with the staff. Even Camden seems to like being there. Thank you to the Dr.s and staff for everything.

Vet doctor was kind and took the time with me explaining the test results but i was truly VERY disappointing with the front desk services, lack of communication and not so courtesy caused me feel dismayed. Vet asked me to call her anytime to save me money but she wasnt in. I asked for another vet so I can ask questions but ended up the person wasnt kind enough to meet my needs. I ended up looking for another place. Wouldnt go there again.

Took my dog to see Dr. Sprague. She was amazing. I was almost worried I would be ridiculed over my dogs weight and dental issues. Complete opposite. She was very understanding and took money into concern when talking about procedures. Even gave us a coupon for a free clinic visit so that our dog would get a treatment that she felt string on so we could afford it. Thank you Dr. Sprague.

I have two dogs, and I must say I wouldnt take them any place else! The staff at Banfield is warm, caring and understanding. They remember our family, and always take the time to find out how we all are. They always call to check on my dogs following any visit, and once even me when I left a visit ill. Thank you doesnt say enough.

Great until we actually needed them. Dog got a fever they said they didnt have the resources to do bloodwork or give treatment. Her fever continued to rise as we rushed to an ER vet. By that time it was too late. She died and now they want to keep charging me for the rest of the year even though they let her die.

I have been taking my dog here for 10 years since he was 4 weeks old. Staff is friendly and compassionate to pets and pet parent. Office is clean and fresh always. Taking advantage of thier wellness plan is the best pet insurance and health maintenance program.
