i was a client of Dr Harnes (deceased) for over 10 years. I was told that if your dog was put on heart worm meds and was always on them every month, you would not have to have your dog retested for heartworm. For 11 1/2 years, my dog has faithfully been given his heartworm medication monthly, without interruption! They now insist that I bring my dog, Buddy, back n to have him rechecked for heartworm. I explained to them that I was not able to afford to bring him up to their office, but I COULD only afford to pay the $120 / year for his heartworm. They refused to sell me (my dog) the heartworm medication. And, on top of that, when I tried to get the heartworm from 1800PetMeds, Pet Meds had to contact Town & Country for approval. When they contacted T&C, they were told that I needed to give them a call. I called Town & Country and they were very rude and said that they do not deal with 1800PetMeds and that they only deal with their clients. Well, my dog Buddy is their client and they Do Not Seem To Care that they (Town and Country) are making it diffucult for Buddy to receive his heartworm medication in a timely fashion. Town and Country Animal Hospital obviously is extremely selfish and is only concerned with booking unnecessary appointments to make $$ and has no feelings or conscious for other peoples economic worries.

Called them 45 min before closing and asked if I could bring my dog in immediately as he was dying and in a lot of pain. She put me on hold to talk to the dr and then came back on the line. I was instructed to take him to Annapolis (30-45min away) to the emergency vet. I tried explaining that I didnt think he could make it there, he was progressing so quickly. I was pleading with them to help me end his suffering. The front desk put me on hold again and came back and said, "sorry the dr just left for the day". I am floored and disgusted by the lack of empathy they showed for me and for an animal in pain!

Obviously studies have changed after 10 years. If you can only afford heartworm and cannot provide proper care for your animal, maybe you shouldnt have one.. The doctors that work at Town and County Animal Hospital are amazing and really friendly. They will sit there and talk to you for a long time to help you in any way they can. I have taken all of my animals there and i will NOT switch vets. I have been extremely satisfied with this business since I started bringing my animals there. There are a few assistants that are not the friendliest, but I LOVE some (Lisa and Sue).

Weve been using this practice for over 20 years. Weve never been anything but happy. It seems to me that the person who left the bad review meeds to reexamine their beliefs. Weve figured.out that it costs us about a dollar a day to care for our animals, including yearly exams and meds. Im guessing that this person who "cannot afford" this likely has a sail-fawn, a flat-panel TV, cable/satellite and so on... As with most everything, its a matter of priorities.

Veterinarians who actually care about the animals not just trying to milk you for every penny. I have been taking my beloved four legged family members to them for 20 year and wouldnt think about going anywhere else. Compassionate and excellent doctors and staff!
