We trust this place 100% with our little ones life. Theyre convenient if you live in Laytonsville otherwise plan on a two lane Highway, 40-minute one way trip I know all the GPS and Maps say its a 25 to 30 minute drive at night with traffic however every time we go its virtually guaranteed that we get stuck behind some slow moving truck or tractor or tractor trailer or sightseeing tourists so plan your drive take your time it is a beautiful trip through the rural Montgomery County scenic Countryside. Its stressful enough for your pet going to the vet anyway so just relax enjoy taking in the scenery & deep breaths of fresh while doing the speed limit, relaxing because everything will ultimately be just fine). It is highly recommended to make all checkups and Non-Emergency yet essential appointments at least 7 to 10 days in advance, calling ahead and scheduling proactively earlier, the better your chances of seeing Dr. Claire Godwin DVM often times they are booked solid. Try to always be on schedule or early for your appointment they respect that and will minimize your wait time. Be careful not to nickel-and-dime the Vet with trivial or unnecessary ad hoc requests, make all your issues and concerns known when you call and make the appointment that will minimize your cost (if you nickel-and-dime the busy Vet during the appointment they will Nickel & Dime, more like Quarter & Dollar, you back) Time is money and like yours & mines, their time is precious, valuable and by the hour it is very expensive but you get what you pay for here it is QUALITY & VALUE which is priceless. alAfter the on-call vet has seen you and written up your charges, on your way out the door, before leaving, you get the added bonus of paying in full with cash or credit card. If they know you the will accept a check which ever method you will be paying in full. THERE ARE NO payment plans and weve been going there for 20 years. Now youre probably asking which vet do you see at this practice? Generally we see the owner whenever we can, its her practice and we have seen her since day one and weve known her all our lives and were used to her. When shes not available, thats fine too because, the other vets that work under Dr. Claire have all been there for over two decades. For over 25 years weve been clients at Dr. Claires - LAYTONSVILLE VETERINARY PRACTICE, which is a model Professional Medical Facility whos six-day-a-week daily operations would not be possible without the assistance of a very dedicated and diligent staff, tirelessly supporting a well-trained, dynamic team of Top Notch - Doctors of Veterinary Medicine USING the latest State-of-the-Art equipment.

Laytonsville Vet is great. I have since relocated in Maryland and drive almost 45 minutes to take my dogs there. They dont run unnecessary tests, give accurate estimations, tell you what you need and what isnt a necessity, and honestly include a lot of services that I have been charged elsewhere for. One of my dogs is a special needs who has been going there for almost 8 years. They recommended he get supplemental weekly injections for a vitamin deficiency. The first few weeks they gave him the shot, gave him a full look over (without an exam charge) and then recommended I do the shots at home myself to save money as he seemed to be doing fine. They in no way play money games. I can always call and get an appointment quickly and they are always polite and know my dog by name when we walk in. Over the years I have seen all of the doctors and they are great; however my dogs primarily see Dr. Godwin if she is available.

Ive been to several vets and Ive finally settled on Laytonsville Veterinary Practice. Its the ONLY practice that offers quality, comprehensive care without playing money games. Our favorite vet is Dr. Fitzpatrick but if hes not available, we also like seeing Dr. Paynter, who saved one of my dogs life. The office is clean and spacious and the vets are compassionate and competent. This practice offers some of the lowest prices in the area, they are not over priced. I know, Ive researched high and low. Veterinary care is expensive and emergency is especially. The other review stating that this place is over priced couldnt be more wrong. Laytonsville Veterinary Practice even received Checkbooks top mark for low prices.

The Laytonsville Veterinary Practice is a first rate veterinary hospital and boarding kennel. The Vets are consistently excellent in both knowledge and care for our dog. I trust the senior staffs medical opinions for critical decisions and feel comfortable putting our Basset Hound in their care. I understand they are the veterinarians for the Montgomery County Police, which is easy to believe as I would say they are arguably some of the best Vets in the region.

Amazing experience! I heard about this vet practice via word of mouth and I was very impressed! It was very easy to get an appointment and the vet I saw was very thorough with the examination of my cat. Could not have been happier! I have now switched from Banfield to here :)

A very trustworthy place. Ive taken both my cats to Dr. Godwin for many years and always been impressed by her care and advice. I dont know why someone said the prices are bad. They are much more affordable than my previous vet, and give better care as well.

Great place. Office & vet staff are all very easy to work with. Im always amazed how comfortable the animals are coming in to the facility. I’ve always found “Sundown Kennels” to be a bit of a gloomy name, but my dog always enjoys his stays there.

We drive past multiple vets to get here. They are worth the trip. In fact years ago we considered leaving due to the drive, but after a series of amazing vet visits when our dog was very sick we will be here forever.

My older puppy needed emergency surgery and they took such good care of my girl. All staff was very nice and helpful. Zola got famous around the clinic. :) Prices are reasonable and you will get a great service.

All the vets are wonderful! Also the techs and front desk are very helpful and professional. 5 years ago, Dr. Fitzpatrick saved my dogs life and now my pug is 16 years and still happily hopping around.

This vet wouldnt see my dog who was dying of a blocked digestive system. They were overpriced but the vet herself was nice. Needless to say we changed vets after.
