We moved to Silver Spring a couple years or so ago and took our pets to Kindness Animal Hospital. They are very expensive, no doubt about that. However, what we disliked the most was that they constantly removed our pets from the examining room to do procedures, even simple things like blood draws, weight and shots. I’ve been a pet owner for thirty years, both cats and dogs, and have taken my pets to numerous vets (as we have moved a lot). We found this policy was very unusual and a little suspect. We have never had a vet office remove our pets from the examining room where we are, where our pets would obviously feel more safe, secure and be reassured, to do such simple procedures. It made us feel like maybe they had had complaints from owners in the past about how they did procedures and so developed this strange policy to avoid such issues. Aside from this, generally speaking, the vets are overbooked and spend very little time with each patient. If you want warm, friendly, caring, and personalized service, this is not the place to be. We are used to paying high prices for vet care, sadly, but really it was the lack of bedside manner and sensitivity to both the people and pets that we disliked about this office. We have since left this vet and are much happier with our new vet office.

I have 2 cats that I dearly love and have taken them to Kindess Animal Hospital their entire lives. I have never had a bad experience there. The doctors are helpful, professional, and really seem to love their jobs. I have noticed they have a lot of advanced medical equipment, such as an ultrasound, and that the nurses there appear highly qualified. When I call with a question, I am always called back the same day or next day if the dr. my question is for is not in that day. I feel the prices are reasonable for the service they provide. They provide top of the line service and care, are up to date on the latest medical techniques and advances in medicine, and are concerned about my cats comfort and pain. I never feel rushed with my questions, and often times the Dr. will call me back after hours if I have a question. I really feel you cant go wrong with Kindness Animal Hospital, especially if you want wonderful care for your pet.

Quite possibly the best possible experience we ever could have hoped for. Brought in our poor, suffering dwarf hamster (pneumonia). Yes, a hamster, of all things. Since he was suffering so badly, we knew he needed an act of kindness. Everyone was super nice. The doc could tell it was a bad situation and took us through the process gently. They had a tiny oxygen tent and warm water bottle / blanket for him. With this, they were able to put him under and make it painless for the little guy. When you see as many cases like this as any vet does, its easy to get a little jaded, Im sure.. but it felt like they really cared about the animal and about us. Well be bringing our cat here for checkups from now on. Thanks, gang.

Love this animal hospital. The staff is always so kind and courteous and accommodating. They really love animals and their clients. I have a big German Shepherd who gets nervous and in turn aggressive and they allow us to bring him in through the side entrance to avoid interaction with other animals. The entire vet staff is fantastic. They really work to solve the problem and perform only what is necessary to your animals health. They are compassionate to your pets ailments and care. They dont try to push unnecessary treatment plans and are willing to make arrangements to help you financially. Highly recommend this animal hospital for all of your pets needs. Love the website too! -Sam [BOU]

My two dogs needed emergency medical care one Friday afternoon, and Dr. Downs stayed late (way past the time the clinic was officially closed) that night to give my dogs the treatment they needed and to make sure that I was fully informed. I move around alot and consequently have used many vets, and Ive never experienced a vet as competent, patient, and caring as Dr. Downs. Both my dogs have fully recovered and are doing well. The vet technicians are also outstanding. The head tech (Gale) is extremely competent. I used her to watch my dogs when I was out of town and also to walk my dogs during the day. Shes a natural with animals.

We have taken our dog and our cat to Kindness for about 15 years and have had a great experience there. The below reviewers experience sounds just awful, but I am sure it was a tragic exception. Our primary vet is Dr. Winifred Neunzig, who displays an unparalleled mixture of professionalism and compassion. Dr. Jeff Zolkiewicz has been great when Dr. Neunzig is not around. And for whatever its worth, I have had a different experience with Dr. Katz, whom I have found to be a bit abrupt at times but very knowledgeable and skilled, and who really seems to care about the patients too.

I have been a client to Kindness Animal Hospital a few times with my cat. The kitty got diagnosed with cancer, and the doctors said she wouldnt make it past another year even with a surgery. We decided to go ahead with the surgery (price was VERY reasonable). The cat lived for two and a half years after her surgery! It was simply amazing, Dr. Hoffeld makes miracles happen! All the staff in the hospital is very kind and nice to deal with. Thank you for everything!!!

I had taken my cats here for their annual check-up in April. The vet was really nice and everything was ok. Today, I called because one of my cats has a swollen, red eye. It look really bad. I wanted to make an appointment, and the person who answered the phone was very rude. She told me they had no appointments for this weekend and pretty much hung up the phone. What am I supposed to do with my cats eye? Really terrible service!

Recently took my elderly cat to Kindness Hospital because I had been unhappy with another local vet. They gave me a tough diagnosis, but the doctors and the entire staff I interacted with throughout the treatment and final passing process were kind, thoughtful and sensitive. I highly recommend and will definitely take future pets to Kindness Hospital.

Shockingly overpriced veterinarian. I took my dog in for her yearly shots and exam, left with a nearly $900 bill. I was anxious prior to the visit, because I wanted to schedule a dental cleaning. The cost for the would-be cleaning: $500. While service was adequate (not amazing), prices are not justified.

I took my cat Esmi, to this vet when she was throwing up and very very ill. The service was great, they were kind and very gentle with Esmi. She left very happy and now she loves to go to the vet.! The cost was a bit much, about 500, but the service was totally worth the cost, definitely.

Highly, highly recommend! When we moved upcounty, we tried a couple of different vets before going back to Kindness. Our cat had been treated well there for years before moving, and now he is back there getting excellent care. Well worth the 20 plus mile trip!
