1 review 5.0 star rating 3/16/2016 This place is a hidden gem. We recently adopted a dog from a rescue that had recently been treated for heart worm. We wanted to get her a check up and establish her with a vet in the area and a neighbor recommend Dupont Veterinary Clinic. We called and easily scheduled an appointment. The receptionist was extremely helpful and took down all of our information. He was very thorough and reminded us that there was no parking available besides street parking (assumed, but always nice to be reminded). About three days after we scheduled her appointment, she began vomiting and was not eating her usual amount. I called Dupont Veterinary Clinic and they were able to squeeze us in for an appointment that day. We arrived very early for the appointment and the staff was extremely friendly and social. We saw Dr. Mavrich and he was wonderful. He was very kind with our sweet girl who is a bit timid. He took his time with her and made sure that she was comfortable and as calm as could be. He took extra time to explain any and all questions that we had, printed out lots of extra material for us, and was otherwise perfect. The thing that I appreciated most was his thoroughness and attention to detail. He had performed a test that yielded somewhat in-conclusive results. Rather than make his best guess, he informed us that he wanted to consult with another vet in the practice and look at it with fresh eyes the next day. He called us the very next day and communicated that everything looked great. We loved the fact that he was so thorough and attentive. I would highly recommend Dupont Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Mavrich!

I took my dog here when he was having some GI issues. I had to drop him off to go back to a meeting at work, but I was very worried so I asked them to give me a call right after the vet saw him and they said ok. Three hours later I had still not received a call. I eventually had to email them and ask about my dog and the doctor finally called. When I got there, I was told the visit was going to cost $400. He needed an antibiotic, which was $25 but I was shocked at the other charges. It was $84 just for the visit, then an additional $100 for tests that I didnt even know they were going to perform even though I asked them to call me before performing anything expensive. Then they had put $70 dog food and $70 probiotics on there that they said the doctor "recommended" but they never even asked me if I wanted them. I made them take those two things off and just got the antibiotic and after a few doses of the medicine my dog is perfectly normal again. There was absolutely no need for those $140 worth of charges. I read some reviews earlier saying they try to up charge you wherever they can here and its true. Definitely going to find another vet in the area. This place took advantage of my worries for my dog.

I have a very anxious dog and he absolutely loves all of the staff at Dupont Vet. They have been absolutely fantastic since I got him and I wouldnt take him anywhere else. I think I have now met all of the vets at the clinic and every one of them has been very skilled, good with my anxious dog, clear in their directions, and efficient in appointments. Ive never waited more than 10 minutes, even for emergency work-ins. Overall, this clinic has been the best veterinary practice Ive ever found. I also want to give a particular 1000 stars to Dr. Vail. When my dog was deathly ill, she sat on the floor with me (and him) for almost an hour talking about options, treatments, and emergency vet hospitals. She called daily to check in on him while he was hospitalized and was fantastic managing his treatment when he was released. I recommend her to everyone I know.

In the first few years that this clinic opened, I had to put down my cat. I went there because it was close and I could see how they handled me and my pet. They gave him the ultimate dose before telling me that this would be it! So I had no chance to say good-bye to him or pet him! I was really upset. Today, 2016, I needed their cooperation to work with another vets office to get some pain medication today for my new cat who has cancer. I called three times in the a.m. and never got a response. It just went to voice mail and no one ever bothered to call me back. Id like to say something good about this clinic, but with these experiences, I simply cannot. They do not exhibit the sensitivity and care that I would and should expect from any veterinary clinic.

I moved to D.C. last fall and tried Adams Morgan and City Dogs before I settled very happily on Dr. Sillito. I have an older dog and cat (9 and 16, respectively), and I cannot say nicer things about Dr. Sillito. He really took the time to learn about my animals and their histories before meeting with me. He listened to my concerns and was incredibly caring and thoughtful in his approach to their conditions. He recently got my cat through a particularly tenacious upper-respiratory infection that the vet at Adams Morgan totally screwed up treatment for. He is also very understanding about costs and is realistic about prioritizing the most important health concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Shillito, he has definitely made a customer for life!

My sister and I came here because her elderly cat who had been her companion was very sick. During that consultation, she decided she needed to have her beloved Maribelle put to sleep. I have never seen so much compassion from the vet and every member of staff. The vet gave precise information, always referred to Maribelle as my sisters friend and companion, and helped her understand the true parameters for her choice so that she could do what was best for her friend. He explained everything the whole way and let her hold Maribelle as she got the sedative so that her last conscious memory would be cuddled on her lap instead of on the table. I really cannot praise them enough.

I had a terrible experience at this place. We went there for years and finally stopped completely. The doctors leave there very regularly, and each time we went we seemed to get a different one. Our cat was very sick (as it turned out, it was due to tainted food), but they were unhelpful, unsympathetic, and completely wrong in their diagnosis. After they sent us home with a very ill cat, they never even checked up on us, even though wed been loyal clients for years, and they basically told us our cat was going to die. Luckily our cat is fine, but we stopped taking him there. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE - you can do much better for your animal!

I have mixed feelings about DVC and can understand both sides of all these reviews. We have been going there for 13 years, and over those 13 years have built up a fairly good relationship with them as friends and our dogs care provider. I must state that it does seem to be a training ground for young vets, which use to not be the case, and the turnover is terrible, which also use to not be the case. That is the troubling part to me of what I feel use to be a fine clinic. I still believe they do a better job than most, but can understand the turnover issues everyone else has expressed. For that reason, I give it only 3 stars.
