I hate dentists, but I love Dr. G. When I was 12, a dentist worked ceaselessly on my front teeth without benefit of Novocain. That hurt to the bone, and much deeper. Kicker to that, when I was in the US Navy in the early 1970s, the dentists were certifiably and seriously disturbed (I think they resented Vietnam-era service in any form). By the age of 23, I became a dental basket case. I tried many clinicians over the years. All failed me. Miserably. Then, I found Dr. Gradishar in 2005. I came to him just before I went overseas as part of the Global War on Terrorism: he made it possible for me to deploy without fear I’d blow out a tooth and fail my comrades in the midst of a genuine no-kidding break-out-the-long-guns fire fight. He remains my doc today, even though, get this, now I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I travel routinely to him, for I flatly will not go to any other dentist. Why? He’s good and he’s caring. His staff’s good, too, and everyone in his office cares about patient-first kindness. Dr. G knows dental tradecraft, and he practices it always with patient-first consideration. He is entirely vested in what matters to me: confidence inducing competency compounded with authentic tenderness. Got a woe? Tell him, and he’ll minister to it. Got a joy? Share it, and he’ll share one back. Truth be told, if you show him a good side, he’ll always share back much more than one in return. His staff work in close dialogue with him and full accord with his philosophy that patients matter above all else. His physical plant ain’t fancy—but that means his overhead and prices are well managed—but his digs are clean and illuminated with unconditional kindness. He’s great with kids, gals, dudes, old codgers—like me—and ladies of a certain age with blue hair and unspeakable maladies.

My family has been seeing Dr. Gradishar since 2002. We had tried several other practices but we have found Dr. Gradishar and his staff to be friendly and very easy to deal with. They have also been very good with our kids; even when they were very young they were able to put them at ease and work with them effectively. We have had to deal with everything from our regular checkups and fillings to root canals and caps. Dr. Gradishar is always very good at explaining what he is doing and why and how long things will take. I have never felt rushed when dealing with any procedure. They always take their time and make sure to get things right. I also appreciate the time that Dr. Gradishar and his staff take in explaining the costs of care to me. This is very helpful when trying to setup flexible spending accounts each year. They have also proven to be very detail oriented and been great at submitting everything through insurance correctly so that I dont have to worry about anything once I leave the office. I highly recommend Dr. Gradishar and his dedicated staff at Cherry Tree Family Dentisty!

This guy is a jerk. I was trying to make an appointment under my new insurance plan, and with this plan, the office had policies in place (charges for canceled appointments, charges for extra tartar build up). I was asking for clarification on how they gage the tartar build up charges, as I was told it could be up to $75. The doctor, whom I was speaking directly with, then became irate, clearly showing his irritation with having to deal with my insurance plan, and said that if I didnt like his policies, I should go somewhere else. It seemed to be a shocking response, as I had been very calm and inquisitive, not rude and abrasive. He then said I should cancel my appointment, which I responded with, Yes, I guess I should. And with that, he HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME! I am SO happy I was able to talk to this guy directly and find out what a pill he was before I trusted him as a dentist. He could be the greatest dentist in the world, for all I know, but with that sort of attitude and treatment, Ill happily find someone else.

My family has been seeing Dr. Gradishar since 2001. He is both personable and professional, and is a perfectionist! Thats something I dont always appreciate when Im sitting for a long time in the chair getting a root canal -- good work takes time -- but I definitely appreciate it once its all over. Its good to know youre in good hands. His staff is always pleasant and professional as well. My wife and I wanted to find a pediatric dentist when we started having kids, but one day my 2-year-old had tooth trauma, we didnt have time to find another dentist, and Dr. Gradishar was so good with him that weve brought all of our children to him ever since. They enjoy seeing him and actually look forward to their dentist visits (something I never did when I was a kid). Over the years weve recommended Dr. Gradishar to many new families in the area and theyve chosen him as their dentist also, so we will continue recommending him. Plus, its fun bumping into friends in the waiting room!

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Gradishar since his office opened more than a dozen years ago. From the very beginning, we found him to be very professional, honest, and highly skilled. Several of our extended family soon began to see Dr. Gradishar as well, and have been with him ever since. Even after my wife and I moved to Annapolis (40 minutes away) ten years ago, we have continued to go to Dr. Gradishar. Over the course of these 10 years, we have changed all of our other doctors, but have remained with Dr. Gradishar. We’ve never had a bad experience with his office, from his service as a dentist to his record keeping and billing. With this all said, our entire family highly recommends him to anyone looking for a terrific and extremely honest family dentist.

I switched to Dr. Gradishar after some bad experiences with a dentist and was given expert care. The cleaning on my first visit was well done and had none of the extra deep cleaning fees the other dentist had attempted to charge. The staff at the time also worked to get x-rays of my at risk teeth within the limits of my insurance so that I would not need to pay extra. Later after getting a root canal and a crown I left the office with my crown improperly sanded (my fault) and was able to go back and get it fixed within an hour because Dr. Gradishar made sure to fit me in between other meetings to get my crown right. Dr. Gradishar can come off with a very matter of fact attitude, but he will do his best to give good care and sound advice.
