I agree with Jessica Lee! If you see that my review isnt spelled right then its because English isnt my first language, so excuse me if Im not the best at writing. But thats not the importance of this review! First of all, this was my first visit at a gynecologist after moving to America. This was the worst experience Ive ever had with any gynecologist!!! First you come in the office and you see this old old waiting room with pictures of animals hanging everywhere, it seemed very unprofessional and I should have left the place right there and then! I am so sad that I ever sat my foot inside that door. The staff seems very unprofessional too, except the nurse that took me to the room where the check was going to happen. After the nurse left the room I was waiting for 15 minutes, although I was their only patient there. I hear the bathroom door right outside the room open and then she comes in. I dont know if she washed her hands after the visit but I really hope so! She wears clothes that no doctor or gynecologist should ever wear. Its again so unprofessional. She was nice at first but then she stared talking talking and talking about her bad experience with enterprise (rental car) and talks for 15 minutes while Im just sitting there with this cape on and waits to get the check-up and get home. FINALLY I get to sit up and get checked and that part was fine. NOW comes the reason for the one star review! She prescribed me with some birth control that SHE said had the same hormones in them than the ones I have from my country. So I went to CVS to buy them and spends 104 dollars on 3 packages. I start them the following Monday and on Wednesday I get the craziest headache that wont go away for 3 days, I then look closer at the package and reads that she have doubled the hormone from what I normally gets.. Now Im stuck with pills worth 100 dollars thanks to her! I called the office on the following Friday (5th day of taking the birth control) to get to talk with Amy to see if she could get me some other birth control and was told that she would call me back after 15 minutes, but she never called me back. I then waited to the following Monday to call again (one week after I stared) to ask if she could call me back. The unprofessional receptionist said that she would call me back after no more than 10-15 minutes.. I waited an hour.. Never heard anything from her. I called again and told them that she should not call me back. Im never going back to using Amy Jane Byer ever again. I dont like to be all mad and I never write bad reviews, this is my first one. I just want EVERYONE to know how bad MY experience was with her. I hope you had a better one..

Aside from the entirely rude and incompetent staff, the waiting time was unnecessarily long - about 45 min over appointment time; with no explanation or apology. The atmosphere was completely unprofessional with old dingy carpet that looked poorly maintained and an unprofessional array of cat and cartoon pictures cut out and taped on the wall. Even prior to her arrival to the room which I was waiting in, she could be easily over heard with the patient in the next room. Dr. Beyer did not perform hand hygiene on arrival whether through hand washing or use of hand alcohol. Remains unknown whether gloves were donned prior to examination and contact with body fluids. She continued to mention details about another patient, although unnamed. This remains a violation of HIPAA. While I understand some patients enjoy "small talk," Dr. Byer chatted unnecessarily about some nonsense related to cats - while also wearing a horrendous cat sweater. No professionalism at all in her attire. She also sneezed at one time, more than likely not in her sleeve and did not even attempt to wash her hands. Absolutely disgusting. Finally, the follow-up was poor. I had to call to inquire about my own test results. Albeit I understand the medical jargon, to any other lay person there was no further explanation of the results or what they entailed. Poor service. Poor adherence to universal precautions and disease prevention. Horrendous professionalism from doctor and staff alike. Poor follow-up. Avoid at all costs.

No one is perfect all of the time. Sorry to hear that anyone had a bad experience with any doctor. It sucks just having to go in the first place. But I went to Dr. Byer...didnt have to wait and found her very personable, professional, and knowledgeable. I think shes really down to earth and unpretentious. She certainly didnt waste my time. The real gem is that she returns calls, works with me over the phone to adjust medication, offered tons of free samples and coupons to save me money, and she has a relaxed, great sense of humor. Her front desk staff are another story--but good help is just hard to find. If youre considering Dr. Byer--try her once for yourself. If youre experience isnt up to your expectations--tell her!!! She listens!! How can any doctor improve if no one lets them know their dissatisfied.

Ditto Jessica Lee. I would also add that the office staff checked voicemail on speaker phone thus disclosing patient information to the waiting area. So dont leave a message!!! Fortunately, I was the only one in the waiting area at the time. I, too, had to call to get my results. I definitely do not feel confident that my exam was thorough. I was however, thoroughly explained the new cosmetic device that would be coming soon. I dont get the sense that Dr. Byer necessarily cares about these reviews but if they help someone else avoid the experience I had, then it is worth writing.

Dr. Byer is very nice and personable. Unfortunately, the same cant be said for her office staff. I stood at the front desk while the receptionist talked on her cell phone about Facebook, and multiple times that Ive called the office Ive been put on hold for long periods of time and then cut off. Follow up from the office is also very slow. These are all things to consider when choosing a doctor, however the bottom line for me is that Dr. Byer herself makes the office experience pleasant. She takes the time to listen to her patients.
