My dog Rebel was hit by a pickup truck just after 6pm on a busy street near my parents house a few weeks back. From the outside everything seemed fine except his tail was pretty badly mangled so I knew at a minimum he was going to need stitches. Then theres that unknown question of Is there any internal injuries?. My dad googled "emergency vets near me" because its after 6pm on a Monday so most places are closed. He somehow got a hold of Dr. Callahan who offered to meet us back at the clinic. Dr. Callahan was amazingly professional and straight forward. I was a mess so I appreciated the fact that he laid everything out on the table on how things were going to go. He gave Rebel a full assessment and advised we keep an eye on him for any signs that could indicate internal issues. He also said that his tail would need to be amputated. Labs are happy dogs so even if it hurts they will continue to wag their tails and not let the wound heal. I watched Rebel all day Tuesday and he kept wagging his bandages off, further proving Dr. Callahans point. On Wednesday he went back in and had the amputation as well as x-rays and blood work to check for internal damage. The entire staff at this place was kind and knowledgeable. To top all this off, when I brought Rebel back to get his stitches out, I had my 12 year old Lab Buddy with me. Dr. Callahan took the time to sit down with Buddy and explain a neurological issue that was starting to happen with Buddys back legs. He then gave me recommendations on how to help him moving forward. I dont know if he realizes how much that meant to me because other Vets that I have expressed my concerns to about this very issue just reply with "oh hes old" or "its probably arthritis". I always had a feeling it was something more! It is for these reasons and many more that I have decided to continue taking my dogs to Ipswich Animal Hospital for all their Veterinary needs moving forward. Many many thanks to Dr. Callahan and his amazing team!

Have taken my two puppys there as well as my parents dog. Dr Callahan is the nicest most professional vet I have ever dealt with thus far. Hes straight forward, and honest in his opinions. Most vets I have been to try to get as much $$ out of you as possible and recommend needles things. Not here. he came into the room and started playing with the dogs as if they were his own. He was very nice and professional. I have enjoyed every experience thus far there and am happy with his work and his opinions on things. Most of all he listens, which surprisingly is hard to find out there! I have 4 dogs and they will all be going to Dr Callahan. Very pleased with this place and the service we have received.

Dr. Matt is fantastic. A pet lover and owner himself, he explains what hed do if caring for his own dog, and takes the time to look at the full health of the animal. Wouldnt bring my lab anywhere else.
