I was fortunate to have found this vet office being new to the area. My 2 yr and 10 month old cat Peanut was urinating a lot and drinking a lot, so under suspicion he was diabetic I took him to another vet in Salem. She was nice but recommended an xray which we couldnt afford from her office cuz she needed a payment up front. A nearby shelter recommended Borash Vet Clinic and so we called them right away. They took us in immediately and worked with us on payment. After the ultrasound, we discovered that Peanut had intestinal lymphoma which was causing stage 4 kidney failure. We were devastated. His prognosis was grim...but through the remaining 3-4 weeks of his life, Dr. Hutchings worked closely with me to provide the best quality of life for Peanut at home. Whenever I was concerned, I called and she always saw me 20 mins later. When Peanut was put to sleep (by Dr. Hutchings & Dr. Borash) we were treated compassionately (as was he) and we gave him the best sendoff we could. They were kind and honored Peanuts last moments. Two days later I received a BEAUTIFUL wooden, memorial plaque and 2 condolence cards-- 1 personally from Dr. Hutchings and 1 from the office staff. Both vets have a lot of class and care. It meant a lot to us-- they knew we didnt have a lot of money but everything they treated Peanut with was in his best interest and helped us make the very difficult decision when the time came with him. I have another cat who I will always bring to Dr. Hutchings and Dr. Borash as long as I live in Massachusetts. I cannot recommend them enough.

I brought my dog to Borash for a couple of years for routine things, or so I thought was routine things. He constantly made a big deal about her ears needing to be flushed, her anal glands being impacted, and her teeth needing dental work. I fell for it for a little while and brought my dog in thinking, ok, this is he 3rd teeth cleaning in a year, she should be all set. I drew the line when my dog was almost 14 and he wanted to do MORE dental work. When I told him I was uncomfortable with putting a 14 year old dog under anesthesia for dental work, he became very defensive. I decided to change vets, and I still have yet to receive my records for her. I have been requesting her medical chart for over a year, and they always say "we will mail it when it is reviewed." They are LIARS because I still dont have her medical records. My new vet requested them as well, same answer, no records. Borash is also a little weird. I dont know why he felt the need to be so touchy feely with me and always trying to hug me. He is a strange man and unethical. He thinks it is OK to poke and prod at old dogs that dont need the added stress. I dont recommend him to anyone and I feel he is a con artist. He preys on people who want to be good pet owners by always wanting to treat more things that are not necessary to treat. I have paid every bill to that office and he still wont release my dogs chart. HORRIBLE service, HORRIBLE vet, and a total CON ARTIST!! This man milked me out of thousands of dollars...stay away!!!!

I adopted a 12 week old kitten from Borash Vet Clinic about 6 months ago and couldnt be happier with the experience. The staff was great, I looked at different cats/kittens one day and then went home and thought about which one would be best for my situation. The adoption fee was all inclusive, sometimes shelters say that the fee includes spay/neuter surgery but then it turns out only the surgery fee is covered and you still have to pay for the anesthesiologist and different medicines etc. I think the kitten was $180 but it was a while ago so I am not completely sure. Once I paid the initial bill I was never given another bill (other than to show what procedures he had done with a $0 for cost). This included multiple office visits and they addressed any questions I had. I would highly recommend adopting a cat here. My kitten got all of his initial shots and was fixed: Spay/neuter, Rabies vaccine, FVRCP series, FeLV/FIV test (negative), FIP test (negative), Deworming .

I have been with Brash for over 25 years. Over the years I have moved and tried several animal clinics and hospitals that resulted in high vet bills and unnecessary tests; customer service was lousy. Even though I travel over an hour, its worth it. Borash has all animals best interest in mind foremost. Cost is discussed ahead of time so thee is mo hidden cost and payment is always worked out. Dr Borash will extend himself- to the point that he once notified me one morning at 5:30 am that the emergency hospital in Hanover faxed over to him the records of our emergency visit to tell me that my cat is in an emergency state and needed immediate attention- he had me meet him at his office within the hour. The office wasnt even open at that time. My cat base crystal and was in a life or death situation. Dr Borash is dedicated. I highly recommend him and his staff.

My poor little Shih Tzu was scratching all over. I brought him to Dr. Borash and he misdiagnosed him with a yeast ear infection and severe food allergies. He put him on 3 different ear medicines, changed him to an expensive diet, prescription oil, prescription shampoo, prednisone, zyrtex and other yeast killing pills. In 3 weeks he did not get better so I decided to bring him to Dr Myers at the Danvers Animal Hospital. Guess what - He had mange. A simple thing to cure. This man cost me well over $500.00. Dont go to him he doesnt know what he is doing. I called him afterwards to let him know what Dr. Myers found. He never called me back. What a surprise. Judy G.

I have 2 dogs, 2 cats & 3 parrots. I would trust the staff with my life never mind my pets! My precious Lly has had issues & the staff was on top of everything. I have a large parrot & Dr Borash came to my home to do the physical & was mindful of the fact that Lily needed attention so he handled both @ the same time!! & I was only charged for 1 office visit. I recd a call quickly with the results for both! He & his staff have a tremendous amount of compassion for the pets & respect for the owners!!!

Dr. Borash and Dr. Southgate are wonderful. Amanda, Danielle, and the rest of the staff are always available for questions and concerns. Adopted both cats from them in 2010 and 2012, and they are treated as family whether there for an appointment or as was recently the case boarded for a few days. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary clinic! Thanks for taking such good care of Koolish and Pumpkin while I was away.

I have been going to Dr Borash for over 20 years and most recently have been seeing Dr Southgate. I live in Melrose and make the trip b/c I find them both honest and friendly. I am also impressed with how they, or their frontline staff get back to you with results so promptly and always make calls to see how your pet is doing after a procedure or issue. They all are the best!!!!
