First: ive never written a negative review on google before, but this was pretty crazy so I felt compelled. Dr Modestow was very nice and, despite the cowboy outfit he wore at the time (it was halloween), seemed professional. I went for a check up/consultation, and the final report he gave seemed very dire indeed: including periodontitis, that would require 3 or 4 separate deep cleanings to cure. According to him, my gums were as poor as an "80 year old man." Though his office did call me a week later to ask when id like to begin their suggestion of multiple visits, I couldnt afford it at the time so I put off my dental work. 8 months later I finally make it to another dentist in Connecticut: Dr Solonia (in the field for 30+ years). Turns out things werent nearly as bad as Modestow claimed. He wasnt all wrong: my wisdom teeth should come out, for example, and I would benefit from gum surgery in some ways. But despite my gum recession, turns out my gums and teeth are in very good health, very little inflammation, and surgery would be more for my own comfort (to be less sensitive to cold drinks) and superficial aesthetics. *Most importantly*: I dont have periodontitis, I needed a standard, one time cleaning, not 4 deep cleanings. Though Its possible my gums have simply gotten healthier since I saw Modestow 8 months ago, it seems very unlikely they could have gotten THAT much better than the grim picture he painted just from more careful brushing. He may very well be an excellent dentist (judging from other reviews here), but I would be wary of a diagnosis from him requiring a saga of expensive dental work. Long story short: I wont be trusting a cowboy dentist again any time soon.

I had a really great experience at Modestow Family Dentistry! After being incredibly reluctant to go to the dentist (Ive had several bad dental experiences), I was relieved to find a dental office that was friendly, honest, and took great care of me. The staff is great with kids as well and my 3 year old daughter is really excited to go back for her own visit. I highly recommend this place! **UPDATE** My 3 year old recently went in for her dental visit and I stand by my original review of this dentistry - theyre great! Sammi is an excellent hygienist, especially with kids. My daughter really enjoyed going to the dentist and thats a great view to form. Dr. Ian is also incredible with kids and overall we had a fantastic visit. Its also really nice to go into a dentist office and everyone who works there treats you like a friend. They greet you by name, chat with you, and you dont feel like just another patient.

Going to the dentist is not usually at the top of anyones "fun things to do" list. But, if you have to go for your routine cleaning, or a more serious dental emergency, I would recommend a visit to Modestow Family Dentistry. The staff are always friendly and professional and they make every effort to help their patients feel both welcome and comfortable. As a matter of fact, on more than one occasion, I have have gone to Modestow Family Dentistry because of severe dental pain, and each time I was cared for in such a way that my experience was not just tolerable, it was truly pleasant.

Great experience with initial cleaning and initial filling at this practice. Staff are all very nice and accommodating. The cleaning was the easiest/least stressful Ive ever had. The filling went quickly and smoothly. Dr. Modestow explains exactly what he is going to do before he does it, and answers all questions. I have had difficulty in the past with the way other providers have administered Novocain, but Dr. Modestow took his time and it was virtually painless. Highly recommend this practice!

Always excellent dentistry delivered by kindly, personable staff. For example, I had a pending appointment for some major work some time out, but was troubled by recurrent pain in the meantime. The office found time for me the same day as I called and Dr. Modestow was able to make a good temporary fix to hold the problem in check until the major work can be done. As a senior with multiple health challenges, I greatly appreciate their care and concern.

After my dentist of 20+ years retired, I was looking for a new dentist. Dr. Modestos office was recommended to me and I couldnt be happier. The office staff is extremely helpful and Dr. Modesto is a very professional dentist with a caring approach. I am nervous about going to the dentist and they make me feel very comfortable and they put together a plan to bring my smile back to its formal glory. I would highly recommend this office.

The best word I have for Dr. Ian Modestows office is "thorough." The office is great from the beginning of your experience (they have so many different ways of reminding you of your appointment that its impossible to forget!), through the cleaning, through spots to watch out for when you are back home, to dentists check up at the end. I feel they take my care seriously and are on top of things!

Appreciating that it will seem unbelievable, our family truly enjoys going to our dental appointments. At the top of reasons why are being seen on time, great recommendations for improving our home care, and excellent surgical work. No one likes dental procedures, but Dr. Ian is exceptionally good at making you feel calm and comfortable.

Went myself today for the first time, and took two of my kids for first visit, too. All appointments were great! Staff is excellent--incredibly professional. The hygenists were fantastic with our kids--it was a really positive experience for them. I have major dental phobia, but this was really easy and pleasant.
