Working Class Teeth
If you have genetically perfect teeth, and if you were raised in a household where you developed dental hygiene practices so meticulous that they outshine the work of your hygienist at your six-month cleaning, then Excel Dental is a great place to go every six months for x-rays and a touchup cleaning. Most of the staff members are, as noted elsewhere, friendly and courteous, so youll have a pleasant enough time while having your x-rays taken and your cleaning done. The exception to this rule is the hygienist who seems to think that shell be successful in selling costly products and services if she tells you that your smile is unattractive and that your uninsured working-class parents were irresponsible for not having gotten you braces. Regrettably, even the friendly staff members are incompetent to deal with actual dental problems. If you have less-than-perfect teeth and/or you do the best that you can with your dental hygiene, but still end up with tooth decay or gum recession, go to ANY other dentists office. If you have a cavity filled at Excel Dental, youre likely to notice that the filling doesnt "fit" quite right, or that it chips or cracks easily. And for the love of God, dont let anyone in this office perform a root canal on you. Not unless you enjoy letting someone drill intermittently into the soft tissue of your tooth for a full hour before finally having the grace to just stop, to admit that he cant see what hes doing, and to refer you to another dentist in a different practice. Ive had my share of dental work done, so Ive got a reasonably large amount of experience to draw upon in judging the quality of a dentists work. I can confidently say that the dentists at Excel Dental, Ann Arbor, MI are far and away the worst dentists I have ever visited. Please note that I gave Excel Dental a rating of one star only because I had to click on at least one star in order to post this review. Their work does not begin to merit a single star.

Excel has changed my life! For 12 plus years I had been terrified of the dentist. I wouldnt go whatsoever even if it meant having no teeth at 45. I had myself resolved to this thinking. One day I had a teeny piece of plaque break off of one of my teeth and I was like, Oh God its starting. Im going to lose my teeth.. I noticed excel one day when I was at Kroger shopping. I walked in and was embraced with absolute kindness. I truly met some new wonderful friends. I explained my situation and explained my fear and that I wasnt sure I was going to be able to go through with anything but I at least wanted a consult to see if I was going to lose the tooth that had chipped plaque off. They give me a free consult, and were willing to show me my xrays. I look at my teeth and they were absolutely beautiful structurally and my gums were a wreck. With a boatload of courage I set up an appointment for a deep clean where Laura sat with me throughout it and tried to distract me from anything that may be uncomfortable. Blessing! Ive gone back a few times now and today I got a cleaning and I knew I needed two fillings and it just so happened they had an appointment back to back. I said I would get my teeth filled. A year and a half ago I wouldve made some excuse that I couldnt but because of Excel I say that I am taking a spa day whenever I go. I am always treated with kindness and timely dentistry and I feel like I am one of their family members. If you are scared of the dentist, walk in here, share your fear and then leave it at the doors my friends! xoxo Melissa

I am a nervous dental patient. Like most people I dread going to the dentist and put it off for as long as possible. Its the pain and the cost that are so anxiety provoking. But, coming to this practice I was immediately calmed by the friendly staff. I felt that I was listened to and my most pressing dental concerns were addressed. The staff went over how they would maximize my dental insurance, the cost of the treatments (which were so reasonable! I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at my treatment plan!), and they reminded me that I was in charge of the appointment and we could stop at any time. My anxiety was quieted by Dr. Sandra and her staff. As I mentioned before I delayed going to the dentist for some time. My teeth are not in the best shape. I have had three appointments in the last week, including a root canal. One might think that this would be very expensive and painful. I can state that the cost was affordable and the pain was not bad at all. Both Dr. Sandra and Dr. Cheun were very caring and attentive to my well being. I was given clear explanations of the procedures, which was helpful and also lowered my anxiety. The hygienists were caring too. It has been a very positive experience for me. I have recommended Excel Family Dentistry to my family. I have a strong feeling that this is going to be the family dentist for us. If you have concerns about the dentist I encourage you to visit this practice.

I was on the end of my honeymoon with my beautiful new wife and she started to have severe pain in her lower back tooth. When we got back home I looked up reviews and found this office which was close, convenient, and the reception staff was great. However, the dentist (there is only one) there is an absolute scam. The dentist didnt even address the problem area that was causing the severe pain. The dentist took X-Rays rays and didnt even address the problem my wife came in with. The dentist recommended 2 different surgeries (thats how they make their money) and it had nothing to do with the issue at hand. I was so personally offended I asked if I could talk to her personally. I went to her personal office and explained the situation and after two minutes in mid sentence she got up off her desk and walked away with no words. My wife is still in pain, I will never go back and neither should you.

I never ever do these review things. But today, as my wife was laying in the hospital going through the early stages of labor with our first child, was suffering with a very painful tooth issue. I popped open Google Maps and looked for a nearby dentistry practice. I got in and out with a tooth extraction today in under an hour, with no appointment. Im not 100% sure what the names of the three women were that helped me today, but they were leaving at 2pm, and stayed late with me to finish my procedure, which they did flawlessly. Now I can spend my day concentrating on the only pain that matters on a day like today, my wifes labor pain. So thank you, randomly found on Google Maps dentistry office. You guys truly saved the day for me, and while we dont live around here, its experiences like today that make customers for life.

I had moved to Ann Arbor from NJ to work on a project for a couple of years, and I turned to Excel Dental when I needed some work to be done on my teeth. I have never felt more at home in a place of business. The office is new, and all of their equipment is state of the art. They staff is very friendly and welcoming; they treat you like family. Dr. Poresh and Dr. Sandra are amazing; they listen to everything that you have to say and create a dental plan according to your needs as well as personal cosmetic desires. This was huge for me. The quality of their work has exceeded my expectations on every level, and I couldnt be more pleased with the overall experience. My only regret is that I wont have them with me when I eventually move back to NJ.
