First, everyone was extremely kind. Was laid off from my job and had to come here to have a cracked tooth removed. It previously had a half done root canal job from a dentist I no longer frequent. I was in pretty bad pain and no dentist felt "comfortable" doing it. When I call they initially set my appointment out on April 3. I was in excruciating pain. The filling from the root canal had completely fallen out and it felt like a dry socket left a gaping hole. They bumped my appoint up to March 23 and I was extremely grateful though when I called it was the 21st so 2 more days of this pain and otc pain meds that didnt even take the edge off. The pain was so bad it made me vomit throughout the day. When I got there its the most confusing set up. I went to 4 different desks before getting anywhere, good thing I showed up 45 minutes before the appointment. One clerk tells me I have an account from an address that I havent lived at in over 15 years, Im 26 - but when I called a few months back for a different issue they told me I had no account and that I as a new patient, have close to a 6 month wait (at the time I called) I ended up explaining myself over and over to different students and dentists. I signed so many times they kept forgetting what I had done already. Asked me about my health history 3 different times. I feel like my medical records should be viewed without problem since its all the same institution. Nope, we started off as if I was a newborn. I was in so much pain I had been avoiding talking so you can see how this Went. The assistant joked about whether he ssked abojtbmy pain level. THEY NEVER DID!

My fiance was here today and the older nurse from the patient admitting clinic, room 1390, was incredibly rude and disrespectful to us, me especially...she made me wait outside, yet my fiance cant speak shes in so much pain. So the lady keeps coming out to ask me questions instead of allowing me to sit in the room. The referring dentist didnt send the referral, so she came out and chided me like a child for not bringing our own copy, and complained saying we went to the wrong place and should have went to emergency upstairs...weve talked to about 5 people to get here and weve told all 5 the same exact thing, "she has a broken lower left molar that has grown into her jawbone at the root. She needs it extracted, shes in intense pain, and the hospital and dentist said it needs to come out and referred us here"...they directed us to where we are now, so why is this lady standing in the lobby talking to me as if Im a child when if shed stop staring me down with those judge Judy eyes and be polite and nice shed get the answers she needs without upsetting the patient. She refuses to update me to my fiances status even though my fiance has texted me and said there is an empty chair in her dentists cubicle...she threatened to make us come back since our referral wasnt just the way she wanted it. This woman alone has single handedly ruined our time here and no matter the level or quality of service my fiance receives from the ACTUAL dentist, we wont come here again.

My father has been a cancer patient at U of M for over 30 years, the medical school has saved his life....unfortunately the Dental School is not capable of dealing with the side effects the radiation and chemotherapy has caused to his mouth, teeth, and throat. The first issue was that they were unable to properly fit dentures, and then most recently they are billing him for an experimental prosthesis that he was unable to use and was told it would be saved until his throat healed enough to use this device. Honestly, I think they thought he would die before his throat healed to have this device reattached. Well, here we are a year later and the prosthetic is no where to be found yet they are insisting the bill be paid for this item. The doctor said from the beginning it was an experiment, that it may be too early, and that payment would be due when successful. The billing office and Dental Clinic do not work in cooperation. Calls are not returned, and the person who answers is never the person you need to speak to - they will have ________ return my call.....but no return call. The billing office calls and threatens, even though they have been told repeatedly the bill will be paid when the prosthetic is successfully in place. For cancer care U of M Medical is second to none, for complicated dental work - look elsewhere!

I have never been disappointed, I have been extremely pleased with my care at University of Michigan School of Dentistry . They are more thorough than any dentist Ive seen in my life. You are helping a student, youre getting a second opinion from the professor. After your initial visit, you are set up with an individual plan of action. For people like myself without dental insurance, payment plans can be arranged so youre able to have all your dental needs met. Most people dont understand the importance of taking care of your teeth and gums. Neglecting your teeth can cause many health problems. Once you find a student that you are comfortable with you are able to see the same person every visit, unless they graduate. They will then select someone to take over your care that they feel would fit with you and your specific needs . I could go on and on about my excellent care. I highly recommend U of M School of Dentistry to my friends, family and anyone looking for a dentist. I am sad, the student whos been taking care of me over a year and a half is graduating soon. My heart felt thanks and gratitude to Evans Sachs, I wish him the best of luck starting his career. The world has a wonderful dentist coming to a practice near you.

Its the worst, depending on who you get as a dental student/ oral sergeon/ etc, In December I had a tooth extraction, used "laughing gas" for the first time and things went quite well. Recovery was longer than expected. Today I got another tooth extracted and it wad HORRID! while I paid for laughing gas, and the machine was on my face, it did NOT enter my body. The oral sergeon pushed so hard on my jaw (after explaining to her I have a serious condition and can not tolerate this)... I cried through the whole thing which is not like me at all. The attending real doctors kelt correcting the students but they quit listening as soon as she left the room. Lastly they totally forgot to give me pain meds when I left. Thankfully some random guy going down the hall cared enough to hand me some IBU samples. Karly (I think) was the student causing most of this disaster. I wish she would have asked for help. I am in so much pain. Also if the past is any indication, I wont be able to speak for a very long time.... meaning bad news for my work... which could mean I loose my house. All this because I tried to save a few bucks at U of M clinic. One of the worst choices ever!!
