Do not ever go here. Ever. There is much better care available in battle creek. Ive been meaning to write this review for some time.. But last year I took my 6 month old kitten for a standard neuter.. And then I get a call two hours after dropping him off saying he didnt make it through the surgery. They blamed it on "undiagnosed FIP" and said that when they were trying to wake him they noticed blood and other fluid backing up out of his breathing tube and that is synonymous with FIP. But let me tell you.. If it was indeed FIP.. Why during the initial exam was it not caught? They listened to his lungs.. And said everything sounded good. He was also not displaying any symptoms whatsoever of the disease. I went up immediately and requested his surgical records. Lots of details were crossed out and blacked over, one of which was describing the events that transpired during surgery.. And Im not sure if thats normal or not but it looks sketchy as hell. Of course Im skimming a little loosely over the fine details but I talked in depth with another vet about the events that happened and their opinion was that instead of bringing him slowly out of the anesthesia, they accidentally increased the amount and caused him to basically choke because it was too much. Whether thats what happened or not.. Im not sure because I declined a necropsy because at this point I was not so confident that they wouldnt "fudge" the report and lie about it anyways. I also had a horrible time dropping him off. They seem disinterested in my concerns and rushed me out of the door instead of taking the time to explain everything and it just came off as rude and a little cold.. Not some place youd want to leave your babies. Overall, my experience was not something even remotely close to positive. If you have other options.. Please use them. Pennfield is fantastic, dont take the chance on them.. Its not worth your babies life.

My 10 year old cat was lying on the floor, glassy eyed and panting. It was Sunday, Dickman had an emergency service. Long story short, quick eval, x-ray, was told he might have a slight respiratory inflammation. The cat was acting better, I asked if that meant he was ok, vet replied sometimes adrenalin will perk them up from being afraid. No attention paid to the fact he was retching, hadnt eaten or drank anything for 2 days...No mention of blood tests, or tests of any kind, nothing. Paid $149.00 and were sent on our way, but not before being regaled by a story of how heart problems need echo tests, and how an 8 month old kitten had been given a clean bill of health and "dropped dead at their feet" a day or two later...covering her butt?? So much for short story..anyway, took the cat to Pennfield vets the next morning, as he was no better and seemed to be sinking fast. They took him in 1/2 hour after my call, saw him immediately, took blood tests, thank you dickman for emailing the ONE thing you did, the e-ray. Vet showed me how to force feed him until he would eat on his own, and how to get a cat to take pills, not as easy as it sounds. He is now on medication for end stage liver disease, and has an antacid for nausea, and is swiftly getting back to my energetic happy kitty. I strongly believe he would have died if I hadnt taken him to Pennfield. Dickman showed no concern or empathy, we felt we were unwelcome, unannounced guests and our cat was just a lump of fur. Will never go there again.

Absolutely amazing! The staff is always so polite, helpful and kind. Our puppy unfortunately got gravely ill over the Christmas holidays and they did everything they could to help him get better, and comfort our family in a difficult time. Unfortunately, his issue was too much for his body to take and he passed away. They called us and let us know he had taken a turn for the worse and advised we come in as soon as we could. When my husband got there, they were doing CPR and everything they could to save him. They continued to work on him until my husband couldnt stand him to be in any more pain. They allowed us to have time with him and plan what to do next at our own pace. They took such good care of him, and were so sensitive to our familys feelings and needs in the process. They handled everything for us. They even sent a lovely arrangement to us after his passing, and the Dr. and staff that cared for him sent us such a thoughtful card with condolences, and his nose print-something we hadnt even thought of in our grief and is so special to us now. We now have new puppies and have brought them here also. (Our breeder actually uses their services as well) I cannot say enough good things about this office, they are an amazing group of people who are very passionate about the work they do.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. Was at work last year when my 2 month old beagle was brought in to get looked at for an emergency. Couldnt make it myself because I work 2 hours away. And girlfriend had to watch our kids at home. So she had her sister bring him in. We had previously brought him here to get his shots so he was already known there under our name. I got back in town right before they closed and went in to go see what was going on. When I went in there they told me they didnt know what was wrong with him. And also since I wasnt the person who brought my dog in I wasnt allowed to see him. So I asked to see what expenses I was being charged for in order for them to treat him. I asked the lady at the lady at the desk why my dog was recieving the long list of treatments I was being charged for and she acted like she had no clue why my dog was receiving the treatments he was receiving or what they were for. Two treatments he was receiving were being charged hourly and they told me I couldnt take my dog without paying them in full for the time he is there. And that they wanted to keep my dog for another 2-3 days. I couldnt afford that. I honestly felt that someone there wanted to keep my dog. No way I will ever bring another pet there.

I have a very energetic pit bull mix who was wanting to go to every dog she saw. She hasnt been socialized that much so Im always cautious because I dont know what she will do when in contact with another dog. So while we are in the waiting room I am firm with her and kept telling her no and to sit and jerked on her leash a bit. She whined and pulled. She got her shots and jumped all over the doctor and he said well your not aggressive at all. She wouldnt be still. (Plus it was her first time to the Vet). When checking out. The receptionist was short with me. I asked her about if she would put that my girl is a pit mix. She said she cant because she is a pit bull plus she is aggressive. I said yes she is mixed with pit. But she is not aggressive. She said with an attitude well dog aggressive. I said no I dont kno that for sure because I just dont risk it. I really didnt appreciate her snappy remarks or how rude she was. And Im really upset that they put down aggressive in my dogs file. She wasnt growling barking or trying to bite anyone. She just pulled and cried a bit. Never taking her back
