Took my cat in this past Saturday - they were able to fit me in last minute having called first thing that morning to see if they took walk-ins. At first it seemed as if I would be turned away, after explaining the nature of my pets ailment they asked if I could be there by 9:45 AM; I was there by 9:30. I entered a clean, albeit dated waiting room, and was immediately greeted by a pleasant receptionist. Within approximately 5 - 10 minutes of my arrival, I was escorted back to an exam room. Though I had to wait an additional 10 - 15 minutes before being seen by a doctor, I counted myself lucky since this was an unplanned visit. The visit was fairly quick and not as thorough as Id expected, having mentioned to the receptionist that Id like to include any tests/procedures that would normally accompany an annual check-up (because my cat is recently adopted, shes still acclimating to her new home and is somewhat high strung; I wanted to try and save a future trip). The doctor was also a little impatient and resorted to tipping the carrier in hopes of forcing the cat out. Even with all this, I was and am still grateful for the time and care taken to squeeze us in. While I cant recall the Dr.s name (older Gentleman) or the receptionist/assistant (younger Lady), I do remember the other worker Steve. Im not sure if hes a doctor or a veterinary technician but he was knowledgeable and also a cat lover/owner (9 cats!!!!). He was especially kind, patient and informative. Im sorry to see the more negative experiences posted here, thankfully I havent had a run in with the angry female doctor. If I had 1 major negative its that at no time did either of the attending caregivers wear gloves. As with humans, I know that there are several communicable diseases (some deadly) that can pass through body fluids and or touch from animal to animal. Some of these can be spread across species (like ringworm)... Though Im sure the chances of this happening is minimal, Id still feel more comfortable seeing greater care taken. That said I am going back; I scheduled a followup appointment for the routine checkup that Id hoped to get this past weekend. Since Im in the market for a vet, I live in the area, AND they were so kind to see me on such short notice I could not not try again and give them my business. Ill be sure to post again and share my thoughts... Im awarding 3 stars this time around only because I dont think what I experienced was typical. I was somewhat out of sorts, and worried about my baby... I think any emergency attention received would garner 4 - 5 stars from me (which is what I was originally planning to give)... Taking emotion out of the equation, I think 3 stars is an accurate assessment. FYI - I noticed some of the prior comments alluded to racially tainted experiences. Im Black, Female, and have been a Detroit resident for decades. Not sure if this level of detail helps or hurts just putting it out there. Thanks for reading...

DO NOT take your pets to this vet. There is a white female vet who is very racist , although she tries to hide it. She kept telling me what a nice dog I had and she hoped "this one doesnt end up chained in a backyard," which is code for "you black folks dont take care of your dogs." Nice. Also, the examination rooms are not cleaned regularly and if youre a black customer and your appointment is 20 minutes ahead of a white customer, you will be left in the waiting room, while the white customers are ushered into an examination room and serviced. I kid you not. My appointment was at 1:00, but I sat in the waiting room until 1:40, then a white customer walks in and the receptionist greats them and confirms their appointment, calls the doctor to let her know that they have arrived and 5 minutes later she comes out and ushers them into an examination room. Meanwhile, Im still in the waiting room. 15 minutes more pass, then Im ushered into an examination room. Still waiting, I hear this same Vet on the telephone (not a business call), so I get up, follow her voice and walk in on her. I tell her, Ive been here since 1:00 pm (its now 2:30) Needless to say, I will never do business there again.

This was the worst veterinarian experience Ive ever had. Dr. Harper was extremely rude. She had my cat scruffed the entire time and then acted like my cat was aggressive when he took a swipe at her. But shed been scruffing him and just sliding him all over the table. Hes never done that before with anyone. That would have been enough for me to NEVER go there again but she also talked over me and talked to me like I didnt know anything. They also gave him the 1 year vaccination even though I asked for the 3 year. The only shining light in that experience was the tech, Steve. I may have gotten the name wrong, but thank you Steve for being kind, informed and gentle with my cat.

Very disappointed. Went today for my first appointment there, scheduled the appointment yesterday. Come to find out, they wont see my cat without having the immunization records for proof (which I do have, just at home 20+ minutes away with everything else). Stupidly I didnt think Id need them, since nothing was mentioned when scheduling the appointment. A half hour of being there just to be told I need to show them the records or theyll have to reimmunize her for an extra charge. In which I wasnt going to do, knowing my cat has her full shots due to being adopted at a shelter. Very disappointed.

Dr. Haper is amazing n knows her trade/animals. She comes off sum type of way @ 1st but its because she knows best. We pet parents r NOT the expert, she n the staff r. The staff is amazing n very helpful n caring. I made the mistake to go 2 another vet but it was an emergency n she wasnt in or able 2 c asap but 3 days later still wit problems wit Pnut, Dr.Haper found what the other place missed. In the last 2 months my boys have had the best vet ever. I will not be taking them anywhere besides Westcott. Thank you Westcott from Pnut, Gizmoe n I n their Grandmother too.

I was talking to my daughter this afternoon about my most angry moment in my life. It just so happened it was because of this place. About 21 years ago and it seems nothing has changed at that place. I too my elderly dog in to be checked out and such for anything we could do to improve her ailing body. The day after we got a call saying basically to come pick her up and that the next step was up to us. I went there to go pick up my dog (Luxy was her name), they brought her out to me covered in urine and feces.

I called today to make an appointment and they do not have a doctor in the office before noon for the next two weeks. Then why are you open before noon?? I do not have experiences at their office so I did not give them a 1 but by first impressions I wasnt impressed.
