I am a technician at Veterinary Medical Center and just had to respond to a prior Google review regarding boarding at our clinic. Let me just preface my response by stating that I have never worked at a veterinary clinic that cares more about their clients /pets than the people employed here. The doctors make every attempt to work with those who have finanical difficulties and have even taken in pets that have been left at our doorstep. In fact, one of those pets is one of the cats that the woman who wrote the prior review saw "roaming free" in the reception area. Another young cat the previous owners were going to euthanize that the staff just couldnt perform. So yes, there are several cats that "roam free" at out clinic. We always explain fees to our clients to the best of our abilities and just to prevent any "miscommunications" we also have clients read and and sign release forms for each pet before providing any service including boarding. If there are any unanswered questions or concerns regarding either finances or treatment, ect, this gives us a chance to address them prior to any work being performed. If there arent any questions that are brought to our attention after reading/signing our admissions or release form we are not aware of any "miscommunications" that need to be addressed. We also monitor our boarders very carefully and owners are welcome to view our facility at any time. We have a small boarding facility to noone goes unnoticed as may be the case in larger facilities. We typically arrive in the morning let the boarders outside in our fenced in area and then provide a prescription kibble to all. If clients pick up their pets just as our doors are opening, there may not be time to provide (or for them to eat) certain things such as their morning meal. Lastly, the people I work with here are the most compassionate, professional group I have had the pleasure to know. We always put our clients and their pets well being as our primary concern. I believe that the people who know us, understand that. And for those that dont know us, hopefully will give us the opportunity to demonstrate that.

I have worked in the veterinary business for over 4 years. Some things I saw here were just unacceptable. I walked in to a wall of cat urine odor when I opened the door. After looking around I noticed everything in the lobby was very dusty. Theres really no excuse for not cleaning the common area. The technicians did not know why my dog was there even though we had spoken on the phone numerous times. First rule: know your patients and be prepared for them when an appointment is made. I met with the vet (I believe she is also the owner) and she came off very rude and abrupt. She did not even introduce herself to me. When I picked my dog up later in the day the clinic was busy. It took 15 minutes to check out (mainly because of wait time). But I was very upset with 2 things. 1st being the vet (with a lobby full of clients) poked her head out of the room and loudly announced she needed a technicians help for a euthanasia. That is a very sensitive time for owners and it is unacceptable to be loud and rude while they are mourning. 2nd was that I was not properly discharged. My dog had a painful procedure done and the tech did not brief me on what had happened, how she did, and I did not receive paperwork on how to care for her at home. Im giving them 2 stars only because the techs seemed nice and overworked, and I personally know you have to have a good heart to be in this business. It isnt for the money. I sincerely hope the staff can take some of my recommendations and improve this facility.

I searched for places that board animals on Google and found the Veterinary Medical Center. The girl I spoke with on the phone seemed professional and when I asked how much it would cost to board BOTH of my dogs, she quoted me $22/day. I repeated, "for both dogs", and she said again, $22/day. When we dropped our dogs off, the girl at the front desk was extremely unprofessional, scoffing at the copier and complaining about how no one else makes copies. When we picked our dogs up three days later, we were charged $22 per dog per day. When I explained that it was not what we were told and I would have never brought them there for that much money, I received no apology or consideration, only this explanation: the girl I talked to is new. I then proceeded to see the second girl at the desk talking to another client about how she just hung up on someone and lost the girl on hold. But the straw that broke the camels back was when we were told our dogs had not been fed, but the other womans had, and that they had just been outside. Yet, when we left, both our dogs ran to the grass because they needed to go. I will never return to the Veterinary Med. Center for boarding or any other service. I found the staff unprofessional, and although I could not see back where they took my animals (something that has always worried me), the place smelled like urine, and there was a cat roaming free around the building. $150 dollars later, Im quite disappointed and frustrated.

I had a 4 pm appointment. The vet didnt come in until 4:45pm to inform me she still needs to finish up with another patient. I informed her that I would have to reschedule since I had to be somewhere at 5:15pm. She took the time to hear the issues my cat was having and decided he needed blood work. I was able to leave him so I could go to my appointment. Upon returning I was informed they were not able to draw blood. I have never had this issue at his former vet ( we just moved to Howell). They suggested keeping him overnight hoping he would calm down. An hour opening the next morning I call the vet. They informed me they still could not take his blood since he was trying to bite. I declined giving him gas to subdue him ($60) and left to pick him up. My children were with me when I picked him up. They brought him to me in a 20X12 in rubbermaid box with lid. I was told the reason they had him in the box was in case I agreed to the sedation. He was covered with urine and feces were in the box. She said he was too aggressive for her to clean him. The employee told me he would clean himself! I insisted on cleaning him myself before I left. I still had to pay the visit fee but no over night charge. I left with my cat worse off than when I dropped him off. If they do not have the staff or experience to treat animals that are scared of the vets office then they should inform you before you show up!

I did some shopping for a vet for my new puppy and found them to be very professional and comfortable to work with. The staff answered all my Qs and their pricing seems both fair and reasonable. Ive since brought my pup there twice and feel I made the right decision. Facilities are clean and Ive not had any issues with crowded wait rooms. The doctors are compassionate and Ive always left feeling more knowledgeable than when I walked in. Though I live in Brighton, the drive is still a short one and worth the time.
