I could speak of other visits to Botsford Hospital ER with my mother 15 years ago before the Beaumont take-over but, I wont, the review would not be that great. But this is a completely different situation. My husband was having a massive heart attack, Nov. 14th, 2015 walking in from the doctors office. Within 15 minutes the ER staff had taken blood, started 2 IVs, took 2 EKGs and 2 Chest X-rays and had him off to the "called in" Cath Lab for the heart cath and eventually a life-saving double stent placement in the LAD branch of his heart, and for those of you who do not know what that artery supplies blood to: The Whole Heart! They said he was 15 minutes away from dying (my husband agreed!), but they were able to open his 1.5 inch blockage and save his life. I must Thank Dr. Rasak for his skill and knowledge as well as all of his supportive staff in the lab, and his associate doctors. They really are outstanding. Four days after my husbands discharge he became sick again, this time a dehydrating stomach bug, and spent another 4 days being worked over by a great bunch of infectious diseases doctors (Dr. Fan) and a in house physician who knew how to make my husband sit still and get well, not letting him out of the hospital until they were certain his blood work looked perfect and he truly felt good. The nurses in ICU, 2 North, and 5 South were all very responsive to our requests and the Aides watched over my husband very well, including getting him moved to a more peaceful room when necessary. I am an RN, I worked at Botsford for 20 years (Cath Lab, ICU, 2N, 5N) , I quit in 1994. I have a lot of good to say about my time there, it was my start to my whole career, and I have some bad things too to say, as would anybody who worked someplace for 20 years. I must say though, my working complaints have nothing to do with the patient care I ever saw there, it was conflict between the people I worked with. I have to say we as a team always worked to do the right thing for any patient we were taking care of. I know I did. Now that my retirement is around the corner (March), I thank this bunch of workers now at Botsford for taking over while I rest from a 39 year nursing career, and for giving me my husband back so my retirement can be as visualized in full. Thank you Botsford. Mrs. Sheila Bernstein RN

Wow. I agree with other reviews who said that they have never been to a stellar ER. I completely understand the process of the people in the greatest need being seen first. Fine. I went into this ER today with severe neck pain/stiffness, nausea and dizziness. Not as important as the people with the broken ankles or the children with open wounds that clearly needed stitches. BUT, probably important enough to be seen without waiting for over 3 hours. I ended up leaving because I couldnt wait anymore. Ive had better experiences there in the past, but that is only because my mother in law works there and was able to make sure that we were seen in a timely fashion. The only reason Im giving this place a 1 is because the doctors Ive seen on those occasions have been great. The rest of the staff (excluding, of course, my MIL and a couple of her friends that work there)....not so much. The people that work the intake desk are incredibly rude and could not care less about the patients. After waiting 2.5 hours I went up to the desk almost in tears from the pain and asked when I would be seen and was told that there were still 5 people ahead of me. The lady at the desk didnt even look up from her novel to answer me. My MIL had called 1.5 hours prior to that and was told that I had 8 people ahead of me. Meanwhile, I saw people who came in after me get called ahead of me and leave during the time I was waiting. Im sure Im going to discredit myself by saying this, but after googling my symptoms, one of the top possibilities that came up was meningitis. Probably just my pedestrian opinion, but that sounds pretty darn important. I saw people who looked absolutely miserable and like they were going to die at any minute wait almost as long as I did, and did not get called before Id had enough and left. Ill never go to this ER again unless I know my MIL is working and can make sure I dont get continuously pushed back to the bottom of the list.

My husband came in by emergency squad about 9:45. Did not see a doctor til after midnight. He laid in the bed in er with severe stomach pains, sweats, chills. The nurse that was assigned to him was rude, I went to her and indicated that I think he had a bowel movement in the bed, this was after atleast a hour. Well he had laid there for over a hour, and employees approximately 6-7 sat around talked, laughed and as far as I am concern ignored my husband. The nurse I spoke to, ask can he walk, I said yes, I continued to tell her he was brought in here by ems, but she continued to ignore that. He still layed for another hour in not only one bowel movement but several more, she continued to walk by, and rush to another room. I stood in hallway, where she would not look in my direction . The reason why I was in hallway was because of the odor, Im sure that veryone in area was impacted by the odor.q It was as if she did not want to service my husband. Then a new nurse was assigned, he was cleaned up, temp taken a second time, I ask when are we seeing the doctor, she replied Ive done two rounds and have not seen him, but I did put a call in. So, she attempted to put IV in, my husband does have veins that roll, so it is difficult to put IV in, so the nurse left and was gone for about 15-20 minutes, then a different nurse came in an got it in. Doctor showed up, nice bedside manners, indicated need urine, X-ray, blood work then hell be back. Well, a different doctor did show up about another hour, wants to do scan to make sure no obstruction in stomach area. And we are still waiting for that to happen. So, that is our story. So, sad when people work in facilities where they know sick people come girl help, and you lay there for hours being ignored. This is not the first time it has happened to us, and I have been here with several friends same environment. I will not come back here unless it is my last resort. RUDE employees!

Our family moved to Farmington Hills about 2 years ago and we had not needed a hospital until last Sunday night. (5/14). I was not familiar with any of the area hospitals but I needed to get my 18 year old son to the ER quickly. I chose Botsford Hospital because it was the closest hospital to where we live. If I would have based my decision on the previous reviews I would not have chosen this hospital...but my son was in to much pain to try a hospital any farther away. I thank God for making the decision to come to Botsford! From the moment we entered the ER we were met with kind, compassionate, caring people. The receptionist and security officer at the entrance desk to the ER, were kind and helpful. We were not in the ER 10 min. and we were called back to the examining room! The nurses and doctors that examined my son were great! . It was determined that he had appendicitis. Within a few hours he was in surgery. The receptionist for the OR waiting room greeted us with a warm welcome and helped fill us in on the new system they had for following what was happening during the surgical procedure. By 9 am he was out of recovery and in his own room! The nurses he had for the next 24 hrs took good care of him also. Im so thankful God lead us to Botsford Hospital! After the wonderful people and the great care he received I was determined to let as many people know what a great place this is! We always seem to hear about a place that has "wronged" us but this time I wanted to give a positive report. Thank you so much to all the doctors, nurses, receptionists, and security guards that made our visit as pleasant as possible during a rough time. Your kindnesses did not go unnoticed! Thanks again, The Everitts
