Compassionate and patient. The experience of diagnosing my son (then 5 years old) with HFA was an exhausting, heartbreaking journey but Dr. Paterno was a remarkable tour guide. Explaining his findings and how he went about conducting various tests in terms I could understand made me feel like I was fully present in the evaluation process. Many doctors previously used language that was foreign to me and acronyms leaving me confused and concerned, never with Dr. Paterno. He made us feel safe to share our concerns of my sons behavior without judgement and our own feelings after having received the diagnosis and realizing our new normal. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Paterno to any and all. I am a woman and I approve this message. Shame on all who criticize his work performance based on his personal, non-related opinions on social media.

HORRIBLE. I highly suggest to not come to this place. The psychologist I had spoken too was very unprofessional, VERY rude, and very disrespectful. The whole time I was trying to have a conversation with her, she was rolling her eyes, smirking at me, shes the whole reason why I changed my mind on being a psychologist myself. She was also basically calling me stupid in a way by saying how hard it is to get into the college that I want to get into and how "low" my gpa is and that it would be really tough for me to get in. The experience I had there was uncomfortable to the point where I got up in the middle of the session and left. If u have a psychologist here with brownish orangish curly hair and glasses, leave immediately !!!

I strongly advise potential patients and their families to consider taking your child to a different provider. Dr. Paternos toxic and misinformed views on gender do not bode well for his ability to counsel young children. Instead of seeing him (someone with a PsyD degree from a non-selective, for-profit school), consider finding a therapist with a PhD or MD who was educated at a research university. While this is certainly no guarantee of competence, it at least shows that they have the intelligence, professionalism, and ability to get through a selective program with strong training.
