I cant fathom where to start. Well, nurses were all great at first, along with the facility layout. I will admit our main nurse was nice! Plus our doctor was friendly and helpful. However, after my daughter was born, a nurse with the name Janice Peaves (or similar spelling) brought an intern into our labor room. Then, after mother held the child, I asked if I could hold my daughter. I was persistent and asked about 8 times (since the nurse took her out of my wifes hands). With no explanation or acknowledgement of my pleas to hold my daughter, the nurse began to use my daughter as a learning tool, disregarding my feelings, pleas and demanding of an explanation. She talked to the baby instead, commenting, "awww, daddy is mad (after getting stern around the 9th time asking)." I stated that I felt my daughter was being used as a lab rat, which she turned around and mocked me with, "oh sir, we dont want that." I could tell it was said in sarcasm. In addition, following the demonstration for the intern, I confronted Janice Peeves about what happened. She rebutted that the baby was under temperature. I responded to this asking, "If my daughters temperature was below normal, then why did the you (Peaves) first place my daughter on a scale for around 3 minutes asking us if we wanted pictures?" She refused to comment explaining she had others to care for. She was obviously cornered in a lie. Even the pictures prove there was no heating lamp over the scale. Doesnt make sense, right???? Shes too cold, but lets make it worse by putting her on a scale with no heat. So my question becomes, was there really a temp drop, or was she merely trying to cover tracks in order to explain why she blatantly ignored me and only conversed with the intern. I, being a father that wanted to hold my child before the testing and prodding, was in total confusion why my feelings and the birth of my child (important to me), were neglected. I read a review that stated nice facility, but wait a few years for the service to catch up. I really thought that since it was posted in 2008, it was enough time for them to catch up. Not the case. Most of the nurses in the ward agreed that the babies temp (97.4) was adequate enough to give off to the father. However, I fear that my daughter was merely a study aid and nothing else to them. I was going to take this in grace until I realized that others may not want to have the same experience. Next time, I would do some research before I go somewhere due to a "nice facility." That is all they have. Moreover, the room for "nutrition" was near empty. Nice looking cupboards though. Granted, this was at night, but one would think that babies are born around the clock. I will later post pictures of their empty cupboards for laughs. Not much nutrition there. They did have coffee though. In the beginning I was under the impression, from friends, that this was a great place. Face the facts, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you are still thinking, well, maybe this is an isolated incident, then consider this.....It could be this same nurse roaming the halls that will treat you like a number (Some people dont belong in the nursing field). These moments that you want to cherish are disregarded. Only when I gave up did she swaddle the newborn and hand her over, more likely realizing that I was fed up. Bad feelings about the treatment. Call me emotional, but I am sentimental and wanted my daughter to know her father before a prodding nurse. Just my opinion. Felt like a visitor, not a husband and father. Dont jeopardize your memories. When I think of my daughters birth, I think of this nurse and her hostile behavior. Consider a midwife or U of M. Much healthier options.

I spent 3 days in Providence Novi in Jan 2014, not at all happy with care. Took 3 people in ER to start my IV and after 3 days of "babying" it, (they let the bag run dry not once, but twice). Then in OR the nurse anesthetist pushed my sedative too fast and blew my vein just as I was being put on the operating table! The ER nurse told me I could have a half dose of pain med in another hour, but when I asked for it, they refused to give it to me, even though I was throwing up in pain (8x6cm kidney stone). Not to mention the cold hard sandwich and jello I had to have for dinner night 2 when they notified the floor 10 minutes after the kitchen closed that surgery was cancelled until the next day. So, 3 days, more pain than I needed to be in, 4 IV pokes and 1 cold sandwich. So not good. Next, Husband in ER for 6 hours July 2015. Nurse was too busy talking about her own family and their troubles to make sure she got the blood she needed on the first try, she did not, and he has HUGE veins, then she hooked up the iv short line without flushing fluid through it and push the line of air into my husband! She then started a fast IV to give fluids, but never even took his blood pressure (blood pressure had not been taken in 1 1/2 hours since the triage, and it was high then) blood pressures must be taken to ensure a persons blood pressure is not going up too high with the extra fluids, this was even after I told her his blood pressure was high that morning, she got sassy with me when I questioned why his blood pressure was not being monitored, and proceeded to push the button to take his blood pressure and walked out, and you guessed it, it was not even attached to his arm. The ER doctor told my husband to go home and see a ears, nose, throat doctor in 1 to 7 days they gave us a name and number, I called my insurance to ensure what had to be done and they said a primary care doctor referral is all we needed, I called the doctor office, explained we were there Thursday and sent to ER and now need referral to ENT doctor, easy right? No, the ER doctor obviously never spoke to the office doctor, even though the office doctor personally spoke to the hospital doctor about my husband on the day we were sent to ER, because now, on day 6 my husband took the day off to see the specialist and you guessed it, the office doctor will not okay the referral since the "diagnosis" is not in his chart at the office even though it is the reason we booked a emergency squeeze us in appointment last Thursday! Even the "Heres your Progress" Update Board in the ER room had the wrong staff members and yesterdays date. My husband and I are BEYOND MAD. I am not searching for not only a new hospital but a new doctor as well. Oh yeah, I am a RN with 38 years of experience in intensive care, cardiac cath lab, acute care, IV team and medical-surgerical nursing so I know how things are suppose to be done. Providence Novi on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great, You get a 1.

I have to say this was the worst experience I have ever had in the hospital in my life . I had the worse migraine in my life ware it felt like my head was getting sliced open I was nauseated and I was dizzy and seen white spots. The front nurse at the front desk was nice, and the lady that discharge U in the front was so sweet to me and my son and boyfriend . But the rest of the nurses in the back was sooooooooooo mean rude and disrespectful my migraine HURTED worse if its loud noises around the nurses was talking loud Evan when I told them can they lower there voice they had a very rude attitude they will snap at u and talk to u rudely one of them actually tried talking to me as if I was a little child and when I moved her out my way to leave she said real loud EXCUSE ME!!! And I started yelling at her back telling her to shut up and stop talking to me like Im retarded Mind u I was the only black patient that was back there and the nurses was all white. So Im sure u get my drift on how I was treated, So one of the security guards called the police my boyfriend had to talk to the security to cancel the call, they were rude to my boyfriend when he talked to them and they talk to u like your a toddler . The only one that was nice was a black nurse and she was whispering and talked to me with respect .The doctor only seen me once and he was nice to me. But it took forever to get him to see me. They talked around me as if I couldnt hear them and as if I wasnt there they argue with u back and forth and when I was getting ready to leave one of the rude nurses that was rude to me try to switch it up and be nice when Im leaving so not only was I upset beyond return. But they treated me like I was one dumb deranged idiot on the street there racist and disrespectful and rude and ignorant. And if it was up to me I would have them ALL FIRED!!! They dont deserve to be in that type of field. But I am having my lawyer to contact them and I want a written apology from each and every one of them. So this wont be the last time they hear from the me ....I promise them That. I will make SURE MY HARDEST TO TAKE THEM TO COURT!!!
