My family and I were in need of caregivers to come into our parents’ home to help care for both our mother and father. Each parent requires a different level of care. Our mother is 86 and had a massive stroke which has left her requiring a great deal of care for all ADL’s (activities of daily living). Our father is 92 and is in fairly good health but is requiring more and more care throughout the day. One of the most important objectives for our parents’ care was to provide consistent caregivers throughout all shifts as well as Certified Nursing Aides for our mother due to the care she requires due to the stroke. After interviewing numerous agencies to find the best fit for our parents, we choose Interim because of what Margaret Beck, the owner of Interim, communicated to our family that her agency could provide. On March 21, 2015 Interim began scheduling caregivers for our parents. Throughout the next 16 weeks, from March 21, 2015 through July 13, 2015, there were 22 different caregivers who had come into our parent’s home to care for them. From the very start there were numerous no-shows by the caregivers. Since the caregiver did not show and Interim said they were not aware that their employee did not show, there was literally no communication to alert the family the caregiver was not at our parents’ home. Along with the no-shows there were late arrivals by the caregivers and leaving before their scheduled shift ended even though their timesheets being submitted did not reflect the time differences. Our family uncovered this by overseeing every aspect of all caregivers coming into our parents’ home and each incident was reported to Interim. Since there were so many different caregivers coming and going, our family made sure one of us would be there to provide an in home orientation/training for each new caregiver (yes all 22) so they would be familiar with our parent’s needs, likes/dislikes, etc. and we all work full time as well. This 16 week time period with Interim Healthcare was the most chaotic experience our family has ever experienced but the number of different caregivers was especially hard for our parents. After a number of caregiver no-shows as well as late arrivals, caregivers falsifying timesheets, schedulers not able to fill shifts with caregivers who were already familiar with our parents’ needs, the final straw came one evening when the caregiver did not show for the scheduled three hour shift which includes helping our mother and father prepare for bed. There was no communication from Interim to let the family know there would not be a caregiver on the evening shift. Our mother who cannot get up on her own to go to the bathroom was left on the couch fully clothed, never bath-roomed from 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening until 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. You can only imagine what our mother must have felt like. Our 92 year old father did the best he could to lay his wife down on the couch and then slept next to her in his chair the entire night. In closing many things (too many to list) contributed to our family deciding to leave Interim, a large part was the constant churn in staff (caregivers and office staff/schedulers as well) which caused most of the chaos. Most importantly the consistency our family was striving for and had been promised never happened due to Interim’s schedulers always pulling the caregiver from one client’s schedule to fill another client’s schedule without concern for its effect on both parties (the caregiver and client). As you can see our family speaks from experience and have witnessed the constant chaos of having Interim as the caregiving agency for our parents. Therefore, if you really care about your loved ones, Interim Healthcare of West Michigan is “NOT” the agency to coordinate the in home care your loved ones deserve. If Interim was so bad, believe me, I wouldnt of stayed there 3 plus years, and still going. I went thru 3 agencies in 6 months before I found INTERIM. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TOTALLY PERFECT AGENCY! ADDRESS YOUR ISSUE, AND THEY WILL TRY VERY HARD TO FIX IT, SUCCESSFUL, SO FAR! One thing I had to learn, is you cannot blame the agencies for what the aids do, or dont do. Brandon, suddenly visited me one day for a aid issue, that issue was solved that day, he came early that morning, and he is one of the head honchos, truly shocked me. Kate visited me one early morning, out the blue to make sure I was happy, and to just meet me. So whoever badmouthed this agency, has definitely not tried other agencies, and, I flatout just dont BELIEVE the stories, its impossible, remember, there is your side, their side, then the truth! I TOTALLY RECOMMEND INTERIM! WITH THE EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD WITH OTHER AGENCIES, I CANT SEE MYSELF LEAVING,THEY ARE STUCK WITH ME, I LOVE ME SOME BRANDON N KATE!

I have worked with Brandon since he was in th early stages of Interim. learning the business and understanding what it really takes to become successful in the in home care industry. Since these past 4 years I would not recommend another company for in home care. You guys have taken this to a new level of CS and in home service.

I used to be the office manager of the lakeshore office. It was a great place to work and our goal every day was to ensure great care for our clients. Interim is very loyal to their clients and employees!
