Dont waste your time with this guy. Dr. Simon doesnt seem to know what hes doing. I spent $500 in one visit for him to check my dogs skin allergies. He insisted we do a smear to check for the presence of a bacteria infection, and a scraping to check for mites for a mange test, and take blood for allergy testing. The bacteria test and mange scrape both came back negative. I had to wait 2 weeks for the results of the allergy testing (the most expensive test he did that day $295) for my dogs inflamed and itchy skin he also insisted I purchase a rinse to use and a steroid spray from him to use. Both had no effect on my dogs condition. And when the allergy test results came back he said everything they check for came back negative and there is no allergy serum they could produce to help her. I question if he even sent out or correctly took the blood sample since he kept asking his tech if he was taking enough blood and using the correct vial. The tech seemed to know more about the procedure than Dr. Simon did. So $500 later his only suggestion is that my dog must be allergic to something in my neighborhood that they dont test for and to just "keep an eye on her and bring her in next spring", meanwhile my dog is miserable. Her skin is bright red, she has multiple hotspots, and uncontrollable itching and chewing. Less than a month later, still desperate for answers, I made an appointment at OVRS. The vet I met with there was kind and willing to cover all the bases and come up with solid treatment plan for my dog. The vet at OVRS also did the mite and bacteria tests. She found that a bacteria infection was present most likely caused by my dogs itching and chewing due to her allergic skin disease. My dog is on an antibiotic to clear that up and another pill to prevent the antibiotic from cause a yeast infection. The new vet also assured me that even though the initial allergy tests Dr. Simon did come back negative she is still confident that well be able to pin point what my dog is allergic to and that theyll be able to come up with a once a month injectable at home allergy shot. $500... for a consultation with no real answers or plan, questionable testing practices, missed condition / diagnosis, and treatments that have no effect... I will never take my dog back there nor would I recommend anyone else to take their pet to Woodside. Youre better off tossing your wallet into a fire.

We have taken our dogs to Dr Simon for over 10 years. And it takes us over 30 mins to get there. Both of our dogs are 13 years old and doing well. I love the fact the Dr. Simon does preventative care, rather than focusing on the disease after it is present. He can tell by the testing when we need to address an issue before it becomes a problem. This seems to cost more because many other vets do not do this, but it can make all the difference in your pets quality of life later. Ive read the other comments and have to laugh a little because sometimes I would wonder too...are the supplements really needed? My dog is young and healthy! But seeing the results I have no regrets at all. And if something does not fit your budget you just say no, there is no pressure to do more. As for the holistic comments, I feel he is as holistic as you can find in the metro area. Dr Simon does not simply hand out a medication to cover a problem, he tries to help the body to heal itself by supporting it. If this is not holistic I dont know what is! Holistic or natural care is not all about raw diet or vaccine issues. My opinion is you want someone who sees the power of both the medical and holistic side to help you, so you can get the best of both worlds. The only thing that has changed in the last couple of years is the staff. I really miss some of the people who use to work there.

Dr Simon and the staff are great. I started taking my dog to Dr Simon when my vet could not address some issues because all the labs were in the normal range. As a recommendation, I took my 10 year old beagle to Dr Simon. He was able to supplement the diet to resolve the digestive issues, and also help with disc issues and gum support. Dr Simon is on the cutting edge of holistic and preventative medicine. He and the staff are very knowledgeable and caring. I now drive over an hour every 6 months to bring my dear rescue beagle to Woodside Animal Clinic. His protocol provides a better quality of life to my now 13 year old beagle. If he was closer, he would be my primary vet. My primary vet is happy how my dogs health has improved even in the lab work results. I share the nutritional info with my primary vet too so he is aware. I would recommend anyone to Woodside Animal Clinic.

Dr Simon has no clue what the heck he is doing. Put my cat in a bag with only its head sticking out in order to give him a vaccination as it was clear my cat despised this guy. Never has my cat had such an awful reaction to a vet before. Nor have I ever seen a vet use a zipper bag like that! The nurse came in to give the vaccine and I had to remind her to use an alcohol swab before injecting my cat. I asked Dr. Simon many questions and he couldnt have been more clueless. It was as if he smoked a joint before coming into the room or something....he was beyond fried out. Ugh, cant stand this place. Dr. Simon needs to retire STAT. I wont even bother with going into detail of how expensive it was. Go elsewhere. Seriously.

Great place! Switched from North Main in Royal Oak and I was so impressed with Woodside! They made me feel welcome and seemed to actually be interested in my dogs. I spent an hour and a half there because Dr. Simon was so thorough and took the time to answer all of my questions. He also made recommendations, but made sure I knew I didnt have to purchase anything I didnt want. The rest of the staff was happy and very friendly. The approach at Woodside is much more in line with what I believe is important for my dogs. They spread out the vaccines and they have a lot of holistic and natural products. I highly recommend Woodside if you are looking for a more holistic approach to animal care.

I went to Dr. Simon when my dachshund fell and twisted her back. My own vet said there was nothing to be done and I should have her put down. Luckily an attendant caught me before I made the decision and gave me the number to Woodside. I called and explained the problem (that my dog had twisted her back and now couldnt walk) and he got me right in for a checkup. It wasnt quick nor cheap, but within a couple months of intensive doctor and homecare my darling Sarah was back up on her feet and walking under her own power. I would recommend these people to anyone who values their pet like their children.
