We brought our cat here by mistake this week (operator gave us the wrong vet number, my husband made the appointment without realizing what had happened). Since the appointment had been made, we stuck with it. Our cat was drooling and hadnt touched her food (we later figured out she didnt like the new brand of food we bought and will eat her old brand). Dr. Howell walked into the room, examined our cat, said: "she has tape worms and gingivitis" and then insisted on $200 worth of tests that were unnecessary to prove his diagnosis (i.e. a blood test she had two months prior, liver test, and feline leukemia test). My husband tried to decline but was told our pet "had to have them." After all the tests came back negative for anything related to her diagnosis he declined a steroid and vitamin D shot and was made to feel guilty. She did not need them- the next day she was back to normal. Howell was thorough, but a bit ridiculous. We paid $270 to find out she had a tape worm and needs her teeth cleaned (we still need to get her teeth cleaned, which is another $85). The office is nice, but the prices are ridiculous and the pressure sales are a turn off. It was also a little odd he sent the vet tech in the room to review our bill- at our normal veterinary clinic our vet talks to us and goes through it. It was a bit cowardly and left the "you just got screwed" taste in our mouths. He taught us a valuable lesson. They will not be caring for our pets in the future.

The care given to all my animals throughout the past 30 years has been exceptional. My 9 year old dog had cancer and was referred to MSU for surgery which went well but he developed a MERSA infection from that facility. Dr Howell was able to determine the correct medications to alleviate this and Bobby lived for 3 good and painfree years longer than the Drs at MSU thought were possible. Also, my new pup just loves the staff. I cannot imagine anyone of sound mind thinking poorly of this office and staff.

This low rating only is for Dr. Howell and his staff. I think Dr. McInnis WAS wonderful! However, she is NO longer with Howell Vet Care Center. Gee, I wonder why? She actually found that what Dr. Howell was prescribing for our Basset Hounds stomach rash was irritating it and actually eating away at the skin. Please beware of them, they will take your money and make your pets worse. I could say more, but will withhold at this time.

Took my cat in for a second opinion on her teeth. My old vet did teeth cleanings, pulled teeth and her mouth still smelled. She had a hard time eating. Dr. Howell found that she had an infection in her throat and started her on antibiotics and she has improved 100%. Very happy with results.

We were referred to this clinic by a friend and are very glad that we found them! Very clean facility and they took very good care of our dog for boarding a few weekends ago! Recommend them! :)

Awful. Dr. Brian Howell is very rude. Prescribed medicine that was not only overpriced, but also unnecessary. This was confirmed by a second opinion from a second veterinarian. Never again.
