The staff is friendly and nice! But the vet is something else I cant say on here. We went in for an interstate we told him that our puppy was having loose stool and had vomited once but that we had fed him too many puppy treats the day before. He said that it could be a cause, BUT he wanted to test of $50 and another of $60 to make sure my puppy would be okay so he could sign the papers. We said yes of course, we wanted to make sure our puppy was okay and that we wouldnt have trouble on the flight (my flight was the next day). AFTER he started running the test he walked in and said he wouldnt sign it. We were wondering if he was joking or if something was wrong with our puppy. He then explained hes not putting his license on the risk for us; that our dog had something wrong. We asked what it was or at least what he thought it was and he couldnt even answer that question. He just gave excuses on why hes not signing our interstate. I wouldnt be upset if he wouldve told me from the beginning that he cant sign for her but he can help us know what was wrong with the diarrhea. Instead, he made us spend $70 on a test that was supposed to determine her health and he didnt even help us understand the problem with our puppy. He was useless and Im really disappointed, the staff is great but this "vet" should be ashamed of himself.

This is a terrible establishment. They are unprofessional, rude and have terrible people skills. I felt they were classist and making assumptions about my ability to pay. I understand that people may not pay, but I should not have to be treated that way. They were not realistic about the prognosis of my dog, I sought 3 second opinions and got him out as soon as I could because they said the way I was being treated was terrible and that the most humane thing to do was to put my dog down. They threatened calling the police because I couldnt pay my bill forcing me into a contract of when I would pay. Keep in mind over 800 dollars was paid up front for my dogs care and this was for the remaining 1/8 of the bill. I made my final payment and they asked me if I wanted to stay on the line to see if the payment went through. Both myself and my dog were treated inhumanely here. The vet Timothy Schacht was so unprofessional reacting poorly to my justified emotions, slamming doors and not offering any dialogue with me, focusing on finances. I went to another spot that teated us with professional care and allowed me to put my dog down with dignity. I am still processing and seeing if further action should be sought out.

I really wish I could give this clinic more than five stars. Ive been taking both my cats to Dr. Schacht for the last six years and I couldnt be more pleased with the care they receive. He takes the extra time to explain every step and every option very clearly and patiently. Recently, I found out one of my cats is in early kidney failure, discovered through a routine teeth cleaning. The team there noticed the warning signs and ran some more tests after calling me to get permission, and as a result, we changed his diet and put him on a supplement before he even became symptomatic. When I got the news, Dr. Schacht called me personally on a Saturday morning and calmly explained the situation and all my options to me. I also cant speak more highly of the staff - every one of them is warm and provides great service. He also keeps your financial situation in mind when offering options, which I greatly appreciate. I feel the prices are fair and my cats (and my wallet) have never been taken advantage of. Thank you all, I will be coming to you for a long time.

We took our 2 year old Black Lab to Belle Isle for our regular Sunday swim and play day. During a game of fetch, he sliced his paw pad wide open on what I assume was a large piece of glass. My boyfriend remembered passing this clinic a number of times, and as our vet was closed, we decided to give this a try. To our surprise there were a couple of cars in the parking lot (though they were closed). When I jumped out, a woman working in the garden (who turned out to be Dr. Marczewski) directed me to an open door. Inside, I found Dr. Schacht and told him what happened. Without hesitating, he ran out to the truck and carried our dog into the clinic. After a quick exam, he informed us that our dog needed stitches, and he would be happy to either bandage him up for our vet to stitch on Mon, or he would do the stitches right then (which we had him do). Dr. Schacht was excellent (we are making this our primary vet). We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jefferson Vet clinic to anyone (and we are extremely particular about who cares for our "son").

A bit late to write this review but I have to. I had what started off as a great experience. We have a very skittish GSD and let the staff know prior to coming in. The intake process went very smoothly. We got our dog into a room right away and the vet did a very good job with the introduction process. What was very upsetting to me was on check out. Some random employee thought itd be okay to just walk up to us - and while doing so I stated please dont, our dog is skittish. Our dog then growled and snipped at this employee which Id been afraid of. The staff member then took it upon herself to tell me and my wife a story about how we need to get her trained, and how once upon a time a GSD bit one of her nieces or some random person in the face because the little girl was taking away a toy... All while just continuing to stand within 2 feet of my dog who was obviously nervous in the first place about strangers, which Id let everyone know before the visit, during the visit, etc. As a result we wont ever be coming back.

We used to take our puggabull, Bruce, (Puggle/english bulldog mix) to Jefferson Vet when we lived in Detroit. He had many ailments from the get go. Dr. Alice was very patient with us and very informative. He developed pretty severe foot allergies causing him severe skin problems. He needed to be on steroids chronically for the first year. Dr. Alice told helped us choose a new food for him and since then hes had no issues. He did gain quite a bit of weight due to the steroids and tore an ACL (possibly both) while at dog daycare. We were told he may need surgery on both but if the worse of the two knees was fixed he may never need the other repaired. Dr. Alice fixed his bad ACL, and it has been four years since the surgery and he is doing great. I highly recommend them.

I absolutely love Dr Alice. She is kind, caring, patient and understanding, and really listens to you. Dr. Tim is also very helpful and honest. Dr. Alice also figured out a simple solution to an anxiety problem my dog had been having for years, that I had discussed with another vet who thought there was nothing that could be done. Her life was so much better after that! We have recently moved almost an hour away and I keep putting off finding a new vet because I love Dr. Alice so much that I dont want to stop going there.
