Wife and I both went in for teeth cleanings. This was our first visit as we were (note: were) new patients. We both had not been to the dentist in awhile so we expected the worst and hoped for the best. I was helped by Kayla whom treated me very nicely and professionally. After getting the initial x-rays and having someone poke my mouth for awhile the doctor came in and suggested a filling and my cleaning was going to be a "deep cleaning". She said someone would be with me shortly to discuss what insurance was covering. This is where things went downhill fast. While waiting for this person my wife popped in and said she needed a root canal and crown after the her filling broke while they were doing her cleaning. Since I only needed a filling and wasnt feeling any discomfort I already knew I wasnt going to get it done and only wanted the cleaning. The person came in to discuss price about my filling. I told her that my wife needs a root canal now so Ill reschedule my filling, but I wanted my cleaning. This woman told me that we would just reschedule the cleaning as well, which I thought was rude and uncalled for since thats why I was there in the first place. My impression was since I wasnt going to be paying for anything they would worry about the cleaning when I came back. Another woman got me and brought me to my wifes room where she informed us of the cost of doing the root canal and crown. She said after insurance total cost for the days visit would be (worst case scenario) $814. We informed her we would pay a portion today and the remaining the next day (pay day). She told me to stay in the room as we would knock out my teeth cleaning (yay!) and my wife would go to a different room for her root canal. About 10 minutes later the same woman that tried selling me the filling came in and said they werent going to do my cleaning and to go wait in the waiting room for my wife. Two and a half hours later my wife is done. She gets me from the waiting room so we can pay and the desk person Helena (I think?) said we owed $1033. We showed her the paper with the $814 price (which also showed we were paying $200 today). She then said we owed $945 because the cleaning & x-rays were $135 (even though the other woman told us the $814 was the TOTAL for the day). My wife, whom set the appointments, informed Helena when she called in she was told cleanin & x-ray was $90. Helena flat out said no it wasnt and this is what we owed. My wife said no, you should check again because this is what we were told and were not paying that. Helena rudely said to a coworker, "Weve never charged $90 have we." Not a question, but looking for affirmation. My wife had to tell her to check online at Bright Sides site and sure enough it said $90. No apology. Not a "my mistake", nothing. I then asked why my cleaning wasnt completed. I was told that they only allot thirty minutes for cleanings and since I needed a "deep cleaning" there wasnt time, yet I was in the (packed) waiting room for two and a half hours. Before, they said they could do the filling and cleaning right away. Hmm...but you couldnt do just the cleaning? Right... After the rude treatment from the front desk and not having the service provided that I originally went for, we will not be returning and will not recommend Bright Side Dental to anyone. In an area as big as the Sterling Heights area they are a drop in the Dentist ocean and well find somewhere that will treat their clients with respect and as people, not an upsell for dental work.

Nice people! But they lie about insurance coverages! My mom came in to set up an appointment to fix a chip tooth for my dad. Whichever girl she spoke said they took my moms insurance and recommended both my parents get cleanings. Its been a while since my parents had gone to the dentist, so of course my mom set up appointments. Copay for a standard cleaning is around $55. My parents went in for cleanings soon afterwards, but after the cleaning was done, they were told to pay $600. My mom was confused because BS Dental told them they took my parents insurance. The girl told her it was for the "deep cleaning." My mom wished that was disclosed before anything was done because my parents wouldve refused the service. They told her she had to pay $400 now and then pay $200 by her next appointment, because you know.. this place apparently schedules two appointments for one procedure. Clean one day, and then the polishing is done another day. My mom was shocked at the $600 but the girl simply just asked if that was going to be on charge or cash. I went up there a few days later with the bill to have them explain the bill to me. The girl sweetly explained it was so expensive because they had deep cleanings, but that there was nothing else they had to pay besides the $600. I even double checked with the same girl when I went back in with my parents for the "2nd part" of the cleaning. And then a couple weeks later we were slapped with a $800+ bill from BS Dental. When we called to question this, they said my moms insurance actually covered less than what these fools had guessed they would cover!!! So now, in addition to not disclosing the cost difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning before performing any work, BS Dental also does not know how to bill insurance companies. But to comfort us they CLAIMED they had discount a mere $100 bucks off. My parents are now down over $1,200 when they originally went into set an appointment to fix a chipped tooth. My parents barely make enough to make ends meet, and have been struggling to pay off this stupid bill in the small 3 month time frame they were given. My advice, go somewhere else!!! And if you decide to go here, make sure they disclose to you about the cost of all your "dental work," other wise you too will end up with a $1,200 bill.

I had to have every tooth in my mouth touched up basically.. They were able to bring me in on a Sunday (which was only 2 days after my initial examination, and they saw the severity of my case). As it turned out I needed to have 6x root canals and many fillings, so needless to say, a painful and expensive procedure.. But out of all of the dentists Ive ever been to, they were Definitely the most careful and understanding of the pain I was experiencing. Dr. Holtzman actually even gave me an additional 7th root canal (instead of a bunch of fillings in one tooth) and didnt charge me for it, instead only charging the lesser value (cost of the fillings instead of the root canal). Which needless to say, is AMAZING. Saved me ALOT of money and Much better quality of work in the long run. When all said and done, they were even able to help me when it came to the pain management after having all of the work done. Which was a really big thing for me considering the amount of pain I was experiencing both before and after having all my work done. All in all, I am definitely going to refer all of my friends and family if they are ever needing dental work.
