My father was taken by ambulance to Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital after collapsing in Southland Mall on Friday afternoon (30 Dec 2016) . Understanding that this happened during a holiday weekend I wont even go into the experience in the emergency room. Which resembled a scene out of a disaster movie, resulting in my father being "parked" in the hall way near the EMS entrance) He was admitted and eventually placed on the 3rd floor. He had not eaten since Fridays breakfast. Was offered nothing in ER while waiting for a bed. Saturday morning he called for his breakfast, it did not come. A nurse called for his breakfast, it did not come. I understand it did eventually show up but was not what he had ordered. The room (302) was dirty and unkempt, during his entire stay his bed linen was not changed nor was he offered a shower or even a sponge bath. He had an EEG which requires an adhesive and a Doppler which uses a gel on Sat (31 Dec 2016). His hair was sticky as was his neck. I finally got a nurse to shower him tonight (Sun. 1 Jan 2017). Although at first she wasnt sure if she could because "not all the showers up here work". Why would showers not be working in patient rooms?? I changed his sheets and pillow cases myself. The nurse assigned to him on Saturday (31 Dec. 2016) was a woman who was so obese that it was an obvious effort for her to walk. How does a health care facility where acutely ill people are being cared for give that responsibility to someone that could not possibly respond to a situation that required fast action? To say nothing a facility that is supposed to be promoting healthy lifestyles to their patients? The nurses during his stay could be best described as unconcerned. Most of their time seems to be spent in conversation with each other at the nurses station. Walking with my father to the other end of the floor on Saturday we were accosted by what was a horrendous fecal smell. I realize that this cannot always be avoided, however, it permeated the hallway as well as the patient lounge. Dad and I sat in the lounge for about 20 minutes and I had to leave, the odor was so bad. I saw no one in any patient room attending to anyone and could only surmise that either a patient had soiled themselves and no one knew or, if the patient had been attended to the soiled linen was not properly disposed of. My father has been a patient at Henry Ford Wyandotte several times, although not on the 3rd floor, his last stay was on the 5th floor and his care was excellent. Again, I realize that this was a holiday weekend and most probably staff is at its lowest numbers, however, the cost of a hospital stay is not reduced during holidays and neither should the patients care be reduced. There is no excuse for what I believe was sub-par care.

Absolutely disgusted and saddened by my grandpas most recent visit to this hospital. My grandpa has dimentia (Lewy body) and was recently taken in for losing consciousness while in the shower. He was admitted around 7/8pm and was not given ANY OF HIS MEDICATION until the next day at noon. On top of that, he was woken up at 1am to have his wrist band scanned. Due to his condition, he was half asleep, confused, and unsure where he was/who was touching him. Naturally, he tried to fight. They then placed him in arm and leg restraints and contacted my mother to basically complain that he was being uncooperative and violent. THEY HAD NOT EVEN READ HIS CHART prior to restraining him or calling my mother. When she arrived the next morning, he still hadnt been given any of his medicine and was found to still be in leg restraints (even though they said he had calmed down?). His other restraints had blood all over them. Im sorry but it is absolutely terrifying that they would treat somebody with such little respect. We have had to be present for his entire stay in order to make sure he is being taken care of. Pathetic excuse for patient "care".

This is most ridiculous stay Ive had here. I have been ignored, lied to, and left in pain. The doctor and nurse must be to busy to care about everyone. Its too bad because it was my favorite hospital. I am left cramping in a corner in pain. While there off having tea with other patients. It really stinks when you dont feel good and someone could help. To let someone suffer is inhumane. This was my favorite hospital ever. Not because of the way it looked. But, because of the people. I feel if I was dying they would take care of louder person first. I might give it one more chance. I like the old rooms. Only if The doctors came down to earth for a day. Also a patient who had same systems as I did, was treated completely different . I think because she was same race as doctor. Im so upset right now. I have wasted a whole night on nothing. I used to rave about this hospital. Now if Im still sick over weekend where do I go???

I took my mentality ill father in the ER because he was making threats to me for the first time in 8 years, I had evidence of his mentality ill state, his doctor referred him there, he told the personnel he was going to hurt me. He has shown great signs of depression that in the past has lead to violent behavior however the medical director Honablue told me without even talking to me prior or talking to my fathers doctor who said they could/should call them that "for $1000 a day she isnt admitting him for a family dispute can call the police", she also stated "you just want a break for the holidays". She was trying to be intimidating and was very rude and unprofessional. She refused to list in writing why they were releasing him and sit him in the lobby without a signature on his discharge papers. If you have a mentality ill patient DO NOT take him to Wyandotte Hospital, go to Oakwood Heritage.

Took my 80 yr old mother to e.r. with dizziness, vomiting. There was absolutely no one to assist me getting my mother in. I had left my car in front of e.r doors, my mother had to use restroom and person at front desk said she could not help me because she had to watch desk, Not the patient, there were also 2 nurses or assistants that seen us and apparently to busy to help. One of them was on the computer, I know things get crazy in the e.r. but really? Her desk job apparently is more important than a patient. Also not one wheelchair in sight. NEVER AGAIN, very disappointed on how that e.r. is running! We left and I took her all the way to HF Fairlane, they met me at the door! Im very grateful my mother is being treated exactly how she should be. By the way there was not one patient in waiting room at Wyandotte and two beds that I could see in triage so that place wasnt crazy!
