Very bad experience on price gouging, attempts at double-charging, and questionable/unnecessary fees. On the phone, I was told I needed some meds for my dog based on a test result. I asked what the medication was and the price. However, I was also told that I would need to pay for the test that had been done. I was baffled because I had pre-paid for the test prior to the test even being done and had also re-confirmed that it was prepaid at the time that the test was actually performed. I informed them of this, and got this corrected, so all was good and I said I would come by to pick up the meds. This is where things got really crazy. I came in to pick up the med and was told the payment I needed to make for the meds. To my surprise it was 47% higher than what I was quoted on the phone. I asked why. They told me its because there was a "prescription processing fee." While the meds are the price I was quoted on the phone, there was an additional "prescription processing fee" added on. I asked what the processing fee was for and was told it was for the tech to "count out the meds and other stuff." I then asked to look in the bag at the meds. To my even greater surprise the bag contained one, single pre-packaged box that was sealed at the manufacturer. In other words, the techs "counting" involved grabbing one box off their inventory shelf and placing it in the bag. My 2 year old can count to 1. That justified a 47% upcharge fee? My guess is they would also claim the processing fee also included the writing of the prescription, etc. However, this was another of my surprises -- it DOESNT require a prescription. Anyone can order it from any popular online pet med site w/o a prescription. The site, unlike with heartworm pills or pain meds, etc, does not need to contact the vet for approval to dispense the product -- essentially it is OTC. I then also checked Amazon, and they sell the exact same med with no prescription at HALF the total price that WacVet was going to charge me. Terrible experience with Waconia Vet, we dont recommend them. If you do go there, carefully watch what they are trying to charge you for meds, their "prescription fee" (aka upcharge), etc. And if you do decide to take your pet here, I would highly reco you buy your meds online (heartworm, pain meds, anything/everything) vs directly from the vet as youll be paying a lot more than you should.

Weve gone there a few times now and always had issues with the level of customer service from the supporting staff, especially from the short blonde hair girl who works the front counter and today was the icing on the cake. To start, I walked in and was not greeted whatsoever. Instead she just sat there until I said hello and then explained why I was there only to be met with less than a cordial/professional response. I then went in to the little room where a vet tech explained that some bs exam fee was needed prior to getting a shot (might I add that no one educated us on this additional fee prior to showing up and we just had our dog there 6 weeks ago in which she was fully examined). I told her wed come back for it later when there was a justified reason for an examination and to just do the nail clipping. She then said they wouldnt clip her nails until she was current on shots despite the fact that they have clipped her nails a handful of times in the past few months without ever asking for proof of shots(in addition to other expensive services they had no problem performing at the time!). I then proceeded to leave and then questioned the above mentioned receptionist why there was an exam required prior to the shot and she responded with the most obnoxious "Yuuuuup" Ive ever heard from someone in the service industry. I then responded by asking thats all you have and can explain to me? She then went on in a childish obnoxious tone "educating" me on why its needed. I know this may sound ridiculous but in a service industry with other options service is everything and this place has fallen short of it! Get a more friendly staff to greet the customers and educate them on required services and Id maybe come back. Shame is I really like the doctors there but I suppose you can find those anywhere. Well be going to another vet needless to say and wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Founded a cat rescue organization in 2004, focusing on the stray, homeless and mistreated cat/kitten population. When we committed ourselves to take on a large scale spay/neuter farm project we were not met with open arms of help by area vets. That is until the Waconia Veterinary Clinic called and embraced our mission! Knowing the area well, the staff wanted to help us by putting aside one day per week where they would take a certain number of cats and provide services at prices we could afford to pay. The quality of care remained high as they didnt skimp on anything just because they are barn cats. This told us these people truly cared about these cats, that each cat would get the same amount of care regardless of the price. These are highly skilled professionals who are driven by compassion for which we are so grateful! The Associates of SCRAM say "Thank You"!

After a not so great experience at our local vet, we were recommended from a friend to visit this vet. They were very friendly and professional, and very accommodating to help you set up a payment plan if need be. My dog had a painful double ear infection and a yeast infection and they were so good with him as they cleaned his ears (very painful for him) and gave him ear drops. They spent a lot of time with us, showing us how to properly clean his ears and answering our questions. Definitely recommend this vet to anyone!

Glad we switched to Dr Cotten here. More knowledgeable about diabetes care for our dog than our previous vet. Helps us through challenging issues, offers choices, explains costs up front.

A very caring staff, and they have a cat and dog waiting room! Our cats were happy to know they would not be sitting with the black labs again.
