If you are reading this, Dr. Ilko, you must do something about your staff. I believe you are a good doctor, and you deserve to have a staff that will compliment you, not hurt you. My family had just moved to Woodbury and looking to establish a relationship with a local doctor. I read some good reviews about Dr. Ilko and setup an appointment. The receptionist greeted me with a cold attitude. I got the sense that the receptionist owned the place and was under the impression that we lived in a communist society. I was the only patient in the waiting area, but I still had to wait more than 10 minutes to be called into triage. I had met two nurses there, and they were very nice and professional. Dr. Ilko was also very nice and helpful. I brought my 15 month old son in for regular check-up and flu shots. I decided to make an appointment for a physical exam. The nurse told me I would receive instructions for fasting so they could do certain blood tests. I never received instructions, so I called the office. The receptionist became very defensive and was extremely rude. I asked her to leave a message for the doctor so I could bring this up with him directly. She actually refused to take my message and hung up on me! I called back and someone else answered the phone. I asked this other person who just hung up on me. She said she didn’t know. If you’ve ever been to their office, you know that it is a very small office, so it would not be a secret or difficult to find out who just hung up on a patient. I asked her to leave a message for the doctor to call me. That call was never returned. I will most certainly never go back again.

My family has been going to Dr. Ilko for over 10 years. I read the other post and I have never experienced that treatment from anyone at the office and find it hard to believe, but hey who am I. I have found just the opposite to be true for me. I also can get in right away or within a few hours of calling to make an appointment. They make every effort to squeeze you in. Yes, I have had to wait sometimes for 10 minutes with the lobby empty, but when I got in, many of the patient rooms were full. He has a deep knowledge and breadth of medical expertise, cares for his patients more than other doctors I have worked with in the past, and always delivered on follow up. Its like having a small town family doctor values but with big city expertise. I challenge anyone to find a more knowledgeable and caring physician in family practice on the east side of the cities. I have recommended him to all my friends and family over the years and I believe, almost all of them have had the same great experience. .

When my 3 month old son was diagnosed of a life threatening disease Dr. James Ilko visited us daily at Childrens Hospital before he goes to his own clinic in Woodbury, MN, he gave us his unlimited support. We do not know how to thank you Dr. Ilko, but we want you to know that we have never dreamed that a family physician would be like a family to us. To date, Dr. Ilko is always there for us when we need him. All our family cares is followed by Dr. James Ilko of Ilko Family Medicine Clinic in Woodbury, MN. And yes! we are with Dr. Ilko for 15 years!

Dr. Ilko has been our family doctor for a long time. He is very friendly and his nursing staff is the best. Kim and Kara are wonderful.
