If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would in a heart beat. I am completely LIVID with Dr. Grimmett (not sure if thats how you spell it) and will NEVER, EVER, EVER take any of my animals to Banfield again - I cant trust them!!! My mom passed away in December of 2014, so my aunt and I "share custody" of her dog. He lives with my aunt full time because he does not get along with my cats. Anyways, she took him to an appointment recently because she said he was wheezing a lot and she wanted to make sure he is okay. It turns out he had pneumonia, and on top of that his kidney enzymes were a bit high. So, we changed his diet and they gave him an injection for his pneumonia. Within THE SAME HOUR that they gave him the injection, Dr. Grimmett came in to tell my aunt and my little cousins that my aunt should consider euthanasia because he is sick and we (my aunt and I) both cant afford to keep him in the hospital overnight. She didnt even wait for the injection to work or exhaust all of her options - right off the bat she INSISTED, not just suggested, on euthanasia, almost guilt tripping our family into making that decision because "we couldnt afford the overnight stay"... I was so upset. We all were. Our family just lost my mom barely over a year ago, and now we have to consider euthanasia for her dog??? I’d understand if he was really sick, couldn’t play, couldn’t eat, etc. All the typical signs that it’s their time… but he had never been deathly sick in his life, he was always very healthy. We take excellent care of our pets, and it was as if she was suggesting otherwise... It just didn’t sit right with my family, we didnt trust her “professional” opinion, and even when I spoke to her over the phone, she was ALL business; no compassion like youd expect a vet to be. So needless to say, we got a second opinion a week later. The other vet was FLOORED that she would even SUGGEST euthanasia when he was not even remotely deathly sick. We had an x-ray done and guess what... HIS LUNGS WERE CLEAR AFTER 7 DAYS OF THE INJECTION!!!!!!!! All of his vitals and everything WERE FINE!!! This makes me wonder… how many animals has she killed prematurely because she was too damn lazy to exhaust all options before suggesting such a dramatic option??? How many owners has she told that to??? We are putting all of our trust into these people, only for them to try and kill one of our animals. I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Banfield is full of CRAP. You guys just wanted to drain us of any money we have to "make sure he gets healthier" when none of it was necessary except for what we did at the initial appointment (the injection). If anything else was necessary, that should have been discussed after the injection, and that’s only if it didn’t work, which isn’t the case. I am making a formal complaint against the veterinarian and will pursue legal action if this is not handled. I will also make a complaint to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. Banfield only cares about our money, not our animals, and that is very obvious with the way Dr. Grimmett handled this situation. I don’t want ANY other animals and their owners to have to see this AWFUL “veterinarian” and deal with anything like this!!! Stay clear if you want your animals to live because god forbid they get sick, she might try to put them down!!! Banfield lost a few customers for life, and I will be spreading the word.

My dog had been acting lethargic and like she was in pain; last year she had a malignant mast cell tumor removed from her leg, with our vet in Chicago warning us to keep an eye on her as the tumors would likely return. After I found several lumps and my dog had several accidents in the house, I called Banfield and made an appointment. They got me in that day and I had to bring my dog and three small children (and double stroller) to the clinic. After waiting an hour and 45 minutes with no explanation, I poked my head out and shouted over my bored, screaming children (Id brought an hours worth of snacks and entertainment) "When can we expect to see a nurse? Or anything?" They told me it would be another hour. I said that was not okay, that wed have to come back. Suddenly we got the doctor in our 6x6 foot room. After arguing with me about the symptoms Id observed (apparently dogs will TELL you when theyre hurting, I apparently must have deleted that text) he glanced over her, squeezed two of the lumps and declared she had age-related cysts and suggested a $35 shampoo. Then he said that she was completely lethargic because she was, and I quote, "A little chubby." I asked him about the mast cell tumors and he informed me that the only option was exploratory surgery and x-rays. As my dog IS old, I told him that we didnt want her to go through a surgery if we can avoid it and he responded, "Well, if we sedate her for x-rays and teeth cleaning, whats surgery going to add? Its not a big deal." Surgery is not a big deal. No blood work, no further exam, he didnt even have them take her temperature. I left with a $20 bag of THREE pounds of food, $35 shampoo and a $45 exam bill. So cysts and shes chubby and I know nothing about cancer. Gave her the food, nothing changed, she got worse. So I called Park Animal Hospital and took her in yesterday. After listening to me, giving my dog a thorough examination and blood work, we learned she has cancer and a UTI. So, Im hoping the magic shampoo will make my dogs cancer go away. Thanks Banfield. Its taking everything I have to not come back and demand you refund my money. Take your dog here if youd like them to die a slow and painful death and the hands of uncaring, incompetent imbeciles who have no business practicing medicine on rocks, let alone animals.

Theyre pricing is great, seem friendly, HOWEVER. I scheduled a SIMPLE OFFICE VISIT a WEEK IN ADVANCE in person at their offices. I had a funny feeling because they didnt send a confirmation email or asked IMPORTANT information. Just my name, my cats name, my phone number and time and date of appointment. so I decided to call the day of to confirm my appointment and make sure they were ready for us since I didnt receive a confirmation email or anything else. THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE MY INFORMATION ON FILE! When I WAS PHYSICALLY THERE?! What kind of- that means this lady blatantly disrespected me by hearing all the information SHE ASKED FROM ME and going out of her way to blatantly ignore it. I SCHEDULED MY WHOLE DAY around this 3PM appointment since I work 6 DAYS A WEEK, 10 HOUR SHIFTS. So now, she says I have to COME IN WHEN THEY CLOSE, at 6:00 TO HAVE MY CAT LOOKED AT AFTER EVERYONE ELSE. The only reason theyre getting a star is because theyre about to have a late late shift dealing with me when I get to my appointment later today!! I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS

I use to work at this location and others around town. I quit eventually after witnessing abuse from a doctor at this particular location. On that day my co worker gave her notice upon witnessing this act. I tried to report the abuse to my director of petnurses, office manager, head doctor and corporate office. I was then told by my manager that if i had a problem with the doctor in question that i would have to bring it up with her. Obviously this is what i did not want to hear so i walked out that day. Banfield says they will "treat your pet like family", than why do they allow DOCTORS to abuse your pets? For those of you who have witnessed high estimates, Banfield has the approach of hiring doctors in at around 96K per year, after that they put them on production. This means that after the first year the doctors at Banfield only make a percent of what goods and services they sell. This means they will request all kinds of tests, meds and procedures to boost up your bill.
