A month ago, I found 2 stray kittens on the side of the road in the middle of the night. They were very tiny- about 4 weeks old. One looked as if she had worms. The kittens seemed to be ill, so I decided to take them to the hospital. After looking in the phone book, I called Mount Laurel. They told me it would be $95 for the visit. I scrounged up $250 for the visit & headed there right away. When we got there, I told the doctor to do whatever they could to save the kittens. They took them in and immediately gave me a quote over $1,000.00. My attention abruptly shifted from the kittens to the quote, which required me to put down $500 that night. I told the receptionist that I only had $250, but asked about a payment plan. She told me they didnt offer that, but went to speak with the doctor to "see what she could do." She came back & told me it would be fine for me to pay the $250 tonight, but had me sign an agreement to pay the balance in 30 days. I felt better then sat & waited for the doctor to call me in. An hour passed, then 2 Techs brought the kittens out & told me they were girls & that the one kitten had maggots, not worms. They told me to take them to the vet when I could for a follow-up wound treatment. It was 5am when we left & I was pleased & comforted because they had been "treated". I took them home, fed them, and planned to take them to the vet after a few hours sleep. I had already been up for more than 24 hours and was exhausted. I woke up at 11:30am, fed the kittens, and noticed that the maggots were still there and the kitten who had them was very lethargic. I was scared and called to ask why the kitten still had maggots. The woman on the phone got very mean & said that I was told to take them to the vet that day, & the kitten "is probably infested by now." I immediately got upset because I felt as though I had been negligent! Then I thought through the previous night. Not once did I ever see or speak to the doctor, & the staff that I spoke to did not convey to me that this was a life or death matter, so I didnt realize that it was! I thought they treated her! What did I pay for? I got out the paperwork immediately. I looked at it & saw that it stated "owner declined" several forms of treatment INCLUDING the maggot treatment. I instantly got upset because I was never asked! I told them to do whatever they could to save them! How is that a declination? I then asked if I could bring them back in to have the care performed. They told me that for the maggot treatment, it would have been $60 extra if I would have done it the previous night, but if I brought them in that day, it would be $60 for the maggot treatment, plus the $119 for the visit. Why would I have declined the maggot treatment EVER? I would have racked up whatever bill I had to to take care of them, but still would have only had $250 that night. I didnt realize that when lowering the down payment, they were slashing the care as well. I immediately took them to Columbus and explained the situation. They felt that one kitten did not need treatment, & promptly treated the sick kitten. The doctor was so nice, & explained everything to me that Mt Laurel should have. That was when I realized that the kitten should have been hospitalized ASAP, as the maggots were eating her away. I did not know this. I am not a doctor. I thought she had been treated! The doctor at Columbus was great. That little kitten only made it through the night at the hospital, but I felt good knowing that she got the wonderful care that she did from Columbus in her last hours. I feel very cheated by Molly Northrop, VMD. I feel that it was her responsibility to make sure that I understood how serious the situation was, to explain the state of the kittens health, & to tell me what care they needed not based on my financial situation. I hope that no one else has to go through what I went through & feel the hurt that I have had to feel in this situation. They will get their precious money, but I cant get back that kittens precious life.

I am unable to give them minus 10 stars because Google has no negatives but this is what I call a true house of horrors. All the staff (except for one of the doctors, Dr. Gorman) is incompetent and uninformed. I came in as an emergency and waited over one hour for someone to help my dog who was in a lot of pain. A "doctor" came in and quickly saw her and told me someone would get her to give her an ultrasound but didnt even care that she was in pain until Dr. Gorman came in the room and immediately realized that she was in pain and took her to put her on pain medication. They gave me an estimate with a low and a high number and the total exceeded the high number by 25% but the greatest atrocity is that in the three days she was there they called me every morning to ask me how I was going to pay my bill. Obviously they were busier with my bill than they were with my dog because when I came to pick her up they handed me a dog covered in urine and raw from her sitting in it as they had shaved her and she had a six inch incision that shouldve been kept clean and sterile. Could they have not taken her to relieve herself for the extremely ridiculous high price they charged? The experience with the doctors is another story, they were clueless about what my dog needed and one said one thing while the other one didnt have a clue about what the first one had said. They discharged her with certain medications and the only reason they realized she needed two more is because I asked questions that they hadnt even considered. I took her to her vet the following day and her vet tweaked the medications and gave her another one that she ABSOLUTELY needed and the vet at MTAH should have known. There are many other options for emergency hospitals and I would urge you to look for a different option. By the time I retrieved her she hadnt started eating yet and supposedly she needed to start eating before she came home but I am glad I decided to take her home and nurture her, she wouldve never gotten better in that place. The fact that they didnt even have the right medications is a scary thought, not to mention the lack of care they gave her and this is just the jist of what happened. If you really love your pet please look for another option.

At first this vet seemed like they knew what they were doing. We traveled almost two hours to bring our bird here in an emergency we did what we could to save him even though it wasnt enough. This vet should definitely tell you prices as they give medicine. $250 just for my bird to pass away on top of what was spent to actually get there. Anyways prices arent the biggest issue. The issue is we called ahead to make sure they see birds and once we got there the lady didnt know what to do she had to call a specialist. So instead of us traveling further and getting the most help we could saving our best friend we wasted time in a facility where they couldnt provide what was needed. We were stuck just clueless in a room wondering what would happen. The lady said that our bird was in an oxygen tank getting extra support breathing but then said he died in the vet techs hands? What was she doing holding him adding more stress when he was so weak? And the part that infuriates me the most is the clay mold that they made us had 3 toes in the front and one in the back so they were so uneducated in birds that they did not know its two in the front and two in the back and thats the last memory we have of him. You can tell in the mold how uncomfortable it looks and I wouldnt be surprised if his toes had gotten broken to even be that far up in the front. They dont just bend that way? Another thing is we mentioned how we did not feel comfortable bringing our dead bird in the car for two hours back but wed like to have him buried so we asked if there was anywhere near by as we have pet cemeteries around us and the lady at the front desk made a face and said "well hell be wrapped up?". I never felt so disrespected as nobody would want their dog or any loved one dead in their car for two hours. One thing I will say which is why I didnt mention negative stars is our vet at least seemed as she cared even a tiny little bit and it was comforting in our time of loss. Major improvements can be made to this vet office we will not be returning but hopefully for the sake of everybody else and their loved ones it will improve.
