Yesterday my male cat had a sudden Urethral Obstruction that left him completely blocked and he was at the point where he was lethargic and it was a GET HIM TO THE VET NOW situation. I called 2 hospitals (the other one in Nutley, one in Clifton) and because it was 4:30 and since they closed at 5 none would see us. They directed me to go to Oradell or Fairfield Emergency center where its anywhere 195-250 to just be able to SEE the doctor. I called Nutley and explained the situation and they told us to come now and we saw the vet straight away. My cat, who is normally a cuddle monster, HATES vets and gets extremely aggressive. They took it in stride (Though my vet did say afterwards he was the most difficult cat shes ever had to treat) and treated him then and there and saved his life. The next day after we took him to the over night hospital for monitoring the doctor kept in touch with me multiple times a day to update me on his progress and took time to answer any questions I had and make sure I had all the information I needed to make his recovery a smooth and easy process. My only wish is that animal hospitals werent so expensive but in this case you get what you pay for. The staff is very friendly and comforting and they really do everything they can to lesson the stress of such a frightful experience into a positive one. The doctor treated him like he was her own and didnt judge him for his aggression out of pain, stress and fear. Im forever grateful that they turned a horrible situation into a positive one and saved my furbaby even when he was being an absolute terror.

went to dr. schulman to see if could get a large growth off the jaw of my golden instead of focusing on the growth she ordered multiple unnecessary tests and took me for more than 1600.00 dollars she told me at first that they can remove the growth and after i paid for for all those other tests and medication she then told me that they cannot do the operation and wanted to refer me somewhere else i totally feel i was taken for a unnecessary ride she was not strait with me at all i then went to my original vet and he told me that the growth was cancer and i had to put the dog down the question is why did schulman not know that i feel she was only after the money and not was best for the dog the dog was suffering and she strung me along i will never in the future refer anyone to that office again also want to state the level of unprofessionalism when you call in the reception there were also quite rood and seemed to not care at all giving attitudes to me this was the worst experience i have ever had

I would not recommend Nutley Animal Hospital. In my opinion, they are more interested in the money than the animal or pet parent. At one time, I brought all four of my cats to Nutley Animal Hospital and then I had a series of very bad experiences. I was spoken to by a receptionist in a condescending tone, I had to put a 19 year old cat down and they would not do anything for her until they wrote out the bill, handed it to me, took my credit card and made the transaction. Once the final arrangements were paid in-full, the cold, rude, and borderline obnoxious office manager said the doctor would be right back. I did not feel any warmth, empathy or concern from this place. I have changed vets to a caring group of professionals; they treat the animal as well as the pet parent and they treat everyone with respect...maybe the Nutley Animal folk could take a professional lesson.

Dr McMahon & her staff are exceptional. It is a true family environment where your pet comes first. Our 2 pups love Dr Re. He thoroughly explains everything he is doing & shares his knowledge & experience to provide excellent care. Our Pudge had suffered a pulmonary edema on Christmas day forcing us to an emergency vet but the following day we were back in the familiar care of NAH & Dr McMahon got us through the scare, following up ALL weekend morning,noon, & night on her own time. She brought Dr Re up to date after the holiday weekend & he remains our primary doctor. Even the receptionists were asking how Pudge was doing when I would call. I highly recommend Nutley Animal Hospital & I know Pudge & Lulu would too.

I have been bringing my dogs to Nutley Animal Hospital for over 20 years. Dr. McMahon and her entire staff treat each and every pet as if they were their own. From the moment you walk in they are very compassionate, competent and professional. They take their time with you answering any questions or concerns you my have regarding your pet. They have seen me through serious health issues with my dogs and sadly the death of one. Colleen the office manager was with me during her last moments when we put her to sleep due to severe illness. They provided my dog with dignity and comfort. There is no better Animal Hospital than the Nutley Animal Hospital.

Nutley Animal Hospital is wonderful! When I call for an appointment because I was very concerned, the reply was always, "When can you come in?". They call back ASAP and always leave messages. If possible, the receptionist who answers the phone, will ask and give answer if vet is busy. They are honest about trratments and prices, especially if expensive and really worth the time and expense - they are dog owners, too. They refer you to specialists and keep in close touch. When my 1st dog passed away from bladder cancer, they sent a sympathy card. Nutley Animal Hospital is everything you want your vet to be - empathetic, honest.

Nutley Animal Hospital Saved my dogs life‎ - Today My dog got sick suddenly and my regular vet could not see us that day. I called the Nutley Animal Hospital and they were willing to see my dog even though they weren’t my regular vet. He was so sick. Everyone was so kind and helpful and really cared about my dog. The vet I saw was gentle with him and really treated him like he was hers. She found the problem right away. She answered all my questions and really made me and my dog feel at ease even though I had never been there before. I would recommend the Nutley Animal Hospital to anyone.

I cant tell you how good their vets are. All I can tell you is I wont take my pets here because they wont give you any quote over the phone. Not even a ballpark quote. The receptionist told me an office visit is $77 and then once they assess your pet they will give you a quote for further procedures. But No quotes over the phone! I asked a simple question. What is the cost of a dental cleaning and the receptionist said she had no clue! UNREAL! It should be easy to look up the cost of a dental cleaning. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Argh! what a horrible experience. I took my dog for a minor infection and the vet was so scared at him that she had her fist ready to punch him in case something happened. My dog was scared and backed up, without barking or showing any aggressiveness. I asked for another vet to see my dog and twice they did not want me to have another expert. Im not going back there again. I use to have a vet who would always asked for a nice kiss from my dog before every check. Unlikely I move from that city. I miss them so much.
