The reason I have selected two stars is mainly due to the business practice of the office. I have worked in the medical field for a lot of years, I have family and friends who are in the field as well and several in the medical billing area and the practice in this office must be revisited since it is unfair for the patients! I will start off by providing the staff, dentist and hygienist with a GREAT review. With each visit, I see that there is a lot of patient volume which is an issue but the front area staff members try their best to juggle assisting those physically present, insurance calls and patient calls. The hygienists and dentist are friendly, professional, and amazing. I am extremely satisfied with my sons actual dental experiences. From a real estate perspective, the space is extremely tight for the amount of patients they take in for appointments, and the front desk area for the staff members being enclosed behind a sliding window is not welcoming and an antiquated office design dating back to the 80s. Now, for the primary reason why I have selected fair as my rating for this business. Into my third appointment, I have learned the following, which for me depicts a disorganized and honestly, laziness in business practice. 1. My son has two files, how could that not have been caught immediately. 2. My son is insured under both myself and my husband and the practice does participate with both of our insurance plans. I was told that even though there is a secondary insurance, I have to pay the 20% copay that my husbands (primary) insurance doesnt cover. As I mentioned in my first paragraph, I have worked in the field and have friends and family presently in it. When a patient is covered under two insurance plans, unless the doctor doesnt participate with the secondary, it is the doctors office responsibility to file the initial claim with the primary insurance. Await the payment from that company and then submit the remaining balance to the secondary insurance company. Once they receive the payment from the secondary insurance company, whatever the delta is some doctors, write it off and not charge the balance to the patient and others will then bill whatever that remaining balance is to the patient. I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER encountered an office that bills the patients directly when they are covered under multiple insurance plans that the doctor participates in. I hope that this review, will alert the management of this practice to review their patient billing practices.
