Absolutely AWFUL and heartless. This veterinarian office should be ashamed of themselves. A few days ago I made an appointment for my 16 year old cat at the Vernon Vet as he is extremely sick and cannot eat or drink and is extremely lethargic. I had my mother bring him into the office for me today and I was just a few minutes behind her. When I got to the vets office she was not there so I called her to find out what happened and she was beyond upset and told me that because of a bill from EIGHT years ago that ended up in Collections from when the Vernon Vet did an xray on my moms 20 year old cat after she had just had a stroke and KILLED her, they refused to see MY cat. She told them multiple times that first of all this was MY cat and I had no debt with them and they did not care. She offered to pay whatever the debt from EIGHT years ago was and if they could please just see my cat because it was an emergency and they still refused. If it wasnt for the wonderful veterinarian office in Warwick who took my Benjamin in right away and got him hooked up to fluids. gave him a Vitamin B shot and did a full check up and blood work I really dont think he would still be with us right now. I am absolutely appalled at the Vernon Vets actions. First off, why am I being turned away because of a debt that a family member owes and that they were willing to pay! Secondly, they had my mothers WRONG phone number so she never even KNEW about this outstanding debt.. she ASSUMED they wouldnt have billed us for the x-ray that killed her cat.. in 2010. and to not see an animal when its an emergency? They offered absolutely no other solution or option and didnt even have the decency to look at him and make sure he was at least stable! That is a common courtesy anyone with even a tiny shred of decency I think would do, despite any circumstance. I really needed to share this... I feel others would want to know how cold hearted they are and that its obvious that they do this solely for the money. That is NOT the type of caretaker I would want to have my pets life in their hands. Instead of thinking of the animals welfare and what is best for them they are just thinking about money. I wouldnt be able to sleep at night knowing I had the ability to care for an animal that was in dire need and I turned them away.

Our kitties have been patients with Vernon Vet since we moved up to the area from Bergen County over five years ago. When we first came up here I was a bit nervous about the quality of care they would receive as our regular vet was based out of the Oradell Animal Hospital (overpriced yet the best in northern NJ). However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of care here. They are more along the lines of country doctors, treating both the animals and the humans. One thing I was pleased to discover is that they did not constantly insist on expensive tests that may or may not help the cats. Over at Oradell I felt like I was more of a paycheck than a patient. I see Dr. Scott Gaydos on a regular basis and while he is a bit young, he goes out of his way to expand his knowledge if you bring in a tough case. However, at the same time he will admit when its beyond his capabilities and send you to a specialist. I dont know what the previous reviewers had with the front staff but most of them have left anyways since their posts and Ive never had any problems with the current ones. If you want rude, go to Bergen County.

Absolutely terrible .. called around to get my dog fixed . I received quotes from 3 different places . This clinic originally quoted me 230 dollars plus an extra 165 to staple my dogs stomach. That is 395 dollars last I checked . Once I agreed and made the appointment drove in to the clinic day of from out of town where I live . The new quote came up and it was over 100 dollars more . Without me getting anything done yet . At this point I have come all this way made the appointment etc . So frustrated I agreed . They promised that was them just being honest and giving me a quote with no hidden fees. The end of the day I came to get my dog and the new quote was again 100 dollars more !! 600 dollars I ended up having to pay for them to give me my pup back! Absolutely terrible I will never go back here . Please dont fall for the friendly attitude this clinic doesnt stand by anything but how to line their pocket book .

Dr. Potter saved my beloved cat!!!! OMG...It doesnt get much better. Any other vet would have sent us home and told us to watch him for a few days - but Dr. Potter had the knowledge to recommend emergency surgery because he thought he had eaten something that didnt show up during all the tests So what did he find? Our cat had eaten 25 inches of embroidery floss that was stuck through the entire digestive track - if he hadnt performed this precarious survey - our Ziggy wouldnt be eating up a storm and chasing toys today. Thank you so much Dr. Potter and your kind staff. While you were operating, they were so kind and calmed me down and reassured me - and you were amazing. We owe you the world!!! Thank you, thank you. I highly recommend Vernon Vet Clinic as the best hospital for your pets!!!!

Ive been taking my dogs to Vernon Veterinary Clinic since Dr. Masson had a macaw sitting in the tree out front and Dr. Potter considered himself a simple country vet. That simple country vet nursed my Eskie who had skin cancer, with incredible compassion and empathy for both my dog and me. Today its not unusual to find Dr. Scott sitting on the floor with a dog looking into its eyes to evaluate its discomfort. He thinks like a dog. All the assistants treat my dogs and me like family and Id trust the lives of my dogs with them. The staff understands the worry I have when my dogs are ill over the phone. How do they do that? I love them all and theyre the only vets I would trust my precious dogs lives with.

I couldnt believe the post before mine. Had the exact same experience. If you are looking for compassion, DON"T COME HERE. I had just changed vets because I was having trouble affording the care at the last vet. Biggest mistake I ever did. My dog deserved so much more. When he died suddenly this past week, we brought his remains to this vet and everyone was so cold and uncaring (Except for the young man who removed his body from my car. He actually expressed his condolences to my kids) Losing this wonderful dog has been devastating for us and the attitude from Vernon was sickening and just added to our grief. If you love your pets, please dont go there.
