I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Vickery and the rest of the staff at Vickery Family Medicine. I have been a patient of Dr. Vickerys for six years now and I can confidently say that every single experience Ive had with him along with the rest of his staff has been a pleasant one. Dr. Vickery is far from your average family physician; his systems-based approach to addressing my bodys concerns over the years has made me a more happy, healthy and whole individual. He takes his time with his patients and will thoroughly answer any questions you have. Although it rarely happens, Dr. Vickery is quick to tell you if he is unsure of something and if he needs to consult with a colleague (whether within or outside of his practice) to further investigate your case. Humility is something I value greatly in any healthcare provider and Im happy to say Dr. Vickery exemplifies it well. Although he is humble and kind, Dr. Vickery is also regarded as one of the best family physicians in the area and its easy to see why. I feel valued and respected as a patient and I have never felt like any of my concerns were foolish or mistaken. One of Vickery Family Medicines other physicians, Dr. Mayer, is also a wonderful physician. You will be in great hands with either of these two highly talented individuals. Dr. Vickerys administrative staff is also top-notch; they are friendly, quick to respond to your needs, and just down right good people. I highly recommend this practice.

While Ive been very impressed with my doctor at this practice (Dr. Mayer) and my WHNP (Ms. OHara) I could not be more UNIMPRESSED with the way this practice is run. I have spent the last two weeks chasing up medical records that STILL have not made it to my specialist. I was informed by staff that they have an outside agency that comes in specifically to do this once a week. So obviously, theyre not prioritizing this task - in spite of the fact that they have patients who are ill enough to need to see a specialist. To add insult to injury I phoned on Friday for an annual prescription renewal only to discover that they only fulfill prescriptions M-W?!! Unbelievable. Ive referred people to this practice in the past, but I wont any longer. In fact, Im now looking for another practice as its just not worth the hoops I have to jump through to get the simplest of administrative tasks performed.

This is the worst care Ive ever received from a General Practitioners office. They are inefficient and unorganized. They accidentally leave information out when I ask for medical records so I have to make a second trip to get them. This summer I go in for a check-up which requires a blood screening and they forget to run half the tests so I need to return for another appointment [the office visit is free of charge of course because it was their mistake]. This past Fall while Im in excrutiating back pain with a ruptured disc, they want to make an appointment for me 2 weeks out so I insist on them referring me to a neurosurgeon instead which ultimately led to an MRI and urgent back surgery. This isnt 1/2 of the balls that have been dropped by them. The icing on the cake...Ive been going to Vickery Family Medicine for 2 years and have never met "Dr. Vickery."

I recently moved to the Asheville, NC area from out of state; I thought Id never find a doctor I loved as much as the one Id had back home. I felt discouraged, until I walked through the door at Vickery Family Medicine. The staff is warm and friendly, and Dr. Vickery is knowledgeable and thorough in his care. I love how hes enthusiastic about dialoging with me and explaining the "why" behind my medical mysteries. I recently switched both of my young sons from their pediatrician to this practice, as I could tell my 4-1/2-year-old felt more at home in my doctors office than he did at his pediatrician. I really cant say a bad thing about this practice. Attentive and well-educated doctors, a knowledgeable staff, friendly on-call afterhours practitioners, and walk-in sick clinics. There is no reason to go anywhere else.

I have been going to Dr. Vickery for about 5 years now. I have referred several people, all of which have been very impressed with Dr. Vickery, his staff, and his practice. Before I started going there, the doctors I would see were all the stereotypical "know-it-all," quasi arrogant, "my-time-is-more-valuable-than-yours" doctors. But Dr. Vickery is the very opposite. I NEVER have had to wait in the waiting room more than 5 min, which I cant figure out, because Dr. Vickery always spends ample time with me, never rushing through my appointment, and always making time at the end to ask me about work and life. I am so grateful that I have found a family physician like him. Ive never heard a complaint from anyone I know that goes there.
