Hated this hospital and I will never go back. It was dirty and there was no communication between the doctors. We had one doctor that would come in early in the morning telling me that my husband didnt look good and than a specialist would come in hours later saying he was fine. This was unnecessary stress put on myself and my family thinking the worst and fearing the unknown due to NO COMMUNICATION between staff. They had my husband on an NPO diet (no food or water) but did not give him IVs all day... fyi my husband was in for liver and kidney problems... Im certainly not a doctor but seems a little unsafe to not hydrate someone who could potentially be at risk for kidney/liver failure.. The nurse actually came in and said if he was dehydrated, water would correct that... Haha thats funny considering they werent giving him any food, water or IVs. When I questioned the nurses on the next shift, they said there was an order for the IV and they were not aware of why he wasnt recieving it. There were multiple orders for other meds for my husband that were not followed through most of the time by the nurses. I had to consistently ask them to follow through with giving my husband his meds. I will say there are some nurses and cnas who were very nice and I do appreciate them so much. I was in tears many times throughout this experience and I really appreciate those nurses who were nice to me and tried to calm me down. I also really appreciate Dr. Forbes who was the specialist and who was very thorough with addressing our concerns and explaining things in detail. My issue was that there was no consistency in reference to staff and communication. Its about 50/50 really. You may get a good nurse or doctor or you may get someone who doesnt care. I could go on and on but Im going to end it on this... this is not a good place to go in an emergent situation. I will never recommend this place to anyone and am definitely never coming back. If the hospital cant even pick up some dirty gloves on the floor that have been sitting in the hallway for 2+ hrs or if most of the nurses cant even follow simple doctors orders, how can you expect them to give you good care? Dont go to a hospital where its hit or miss as to whether or not you receive good care. Theres a reason this hospital has a 3 out of 5 star rating... and please, just Google top worst hospitals in NC and you can see this hospital is clearly on this list. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt and my husband wanted to come here because it was convienent and at the time, I was not in a position to argue but now we clearly know this is not a good place and next time we will be sure to drive a little further and go to cmc main.

We began to worry about my 5-year-old son having chicken pox this afternoon (Sunday, July 5). He had little spots all over and was running a fever of a little over 100. My wife took him to Caromont Urgent Care in Steele Creek while I stayed home with his twin brother. My wife forgot her insurance card, so she asked Rita, the receptionist, if she could pull the info from my sons twin brothers info. She said she couldnt because its a different person. Fine. So my wife pulled up the ACTUAL CARD on the BCBS app, which was created for instances such as this. Rita said that she couldnt read the card on the phone, so my wife read it to her. She said the number didnt work, so she called BCBS (who was of course closed because of the holiday weekend). She said there was nothing else she could do, and refused service to my obviously very sick son. So my wife took my son a little ways further to CMC urgent care, somewhere no member of our family has been, and the card on the app worked just fine. There was no doctor on site there, but they were extremely helpful. The nurse checked him and said that he did need to see a doctor. They gave my wife the options of the facilities that had doctors on site, and even gave her wait times and sent the insurance info over to the other office to speed up the process. Side note: I called Rita to ask what the problem was. She said she couldnt see to read the phone or understand my wife. My wife works in sales, is a highly educated and well-spoken woman, and talking is basically her job. Rita was just either too lazy to do her job, or she doesnt need to work as a receptionist if shes too old to see or hear well enough to do her job correctly. Never again will we use Caromont for anything. CMC all the way. If I could have given no stars here, I most certainly would have.

Re:Billing I went to have a MRI and CAT scan done on 8-5-2016. I was charged 500 at the time of the scan. Then I got another bill for 130. So I questioned my provider of health care. I learn that they should have only billed me 130 period. So I called them, and asked why I have 130$ bill, when I paid 500. They then realized I have a credit now for the difference. I asked for a refund, they said well you have a bill from pain management (20$ max) pending we will refund that after the insurance covers it. I hated that idea, that was a month ago.....Guess what I got in the mail again.....the bill again for the 130 $ .... My point is they LOVE TO OVER CHARGE people. Double and triple check your payments. Dont fall for the ooo we will give it to you later crap...its you money they are holding... :/ Re:Treatment LIke many many many others that posted here. I went to the ER on 5/29/2016....After waiting many hours,I was given an xray and ingored. After about 3 hours,I and my mother hobbled out of there....only to be stopped by a nurse demanding I sigh a form saying leaving agest medical advice....I quickly shoot back, what advice? I havent been seen by a dr,just a nurse who took my info. Then a Dr comes over and informs me ,well we had 3 people that nearly died. Mind you I was waiting in a bay right by where he was on the computer a good 2 hours of my 3 there. LIED right to our faces ....it seemed slow,no emergancy calls,no one moving with haste ....Nurses station was in sight....THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR patience. Last note I did ask for a patient advocate during the wait, and was told none were available...no phone number for one was offered ,at this point is when we gave up..... so folks, this ooo tell us what we did wrong,i find hard to swallow.

Emergency: arising from or needed or used in an emergency. modifier noun: emergency "an emergency exit" synonyms: urgent, crisis; More a person with a medical condition requiring immediate treatment. This is the definition of "emergency" I suggest people who works there should learn it. my girl went into emergency at 7:30 PM I was coming in behind her, she got admitted to the back and prepped for xray because of the pain she was in, but then something happened she came back out in front where I joined her I dont know why which I tried to find out, no one could tell me, my girl was not in good shape, skin was so white, and pale, soaked in sweat and her back was killing her, so we waited, for a loooong time, we didnt get admitted until 4:30 am in the morning the next day, found out she had kidney stone, most people that was in emergency room got up and left and people who did come in got admitted right away, now I find it odd that a guy with a sniffle is more concerning than the girl who is sweating and pale and screaming pain also they kept moving people in front of her, at first it was 3 people was in front of her and after an hour, it was 6 people in front of her, plus guy at the front desk had a cocky attitude also seeing a lot of nurse walking around laughing and playing around which I thought thats not right. Overall this hospital is a JOKE bring a tent if you have an emergency after that, they will never see us and I will encourage everyone to stay away from this hospital, go to Charlotte or mount holly anywhere really but gaston memorial if gaston has a problem with my comment you got my name, Im in the book, Gaston memorial hospital is the SHITTIEST hospital on this earth.
