I am a Veteran; went to the Viera out paitient clinic recently. The Experience at the V.A. was better than expected. After lab work, EKG, chest xray, and multiplt checks of my blood pressure. It was determined by the physician for me to go to this E.R. ASAP! I go in, with all my paper work, charts, blood test results and EKG. First question is whats your problem? Where are the notes? The notes were right in front of her face! So what do they do check my blood pressure, and give me an EKG! Even though I just had an EKG less than one hour ago! Blood pressure was high, as it was at the V.A. Clinic. I then am sent to the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours! When I get sent back to get checked by the doctor, and nurses, I am in a line in a hallyway, right by the nursing doctors station! What I hear is the computers have been down all day, we are short staffed and its crazy in here today. Thats their words. So they hook me up to a monitor for BPM and blood pressure reading. Then what do they do??? We have to take blood to send up to the lab...Well I got 7 viles taken of blood at the V.A. 3 1/2 hours ago....the nurse says OH!! just 7?? Like that wasnt enough. So how many viles does she take? 4...thats FOUR! Then says Im putting in this I.V. in your hand. I am visited by 4 different nurses, all asking the same question...WHY ARE YOU HERE? The Doctor came by 3 times, first time? WHY ARE YOU HERE? Then as Im laying there, they decide its necessary to take a chest xray....I just had one 5 hours ago at the V.A. Finally after almost 3 hours of my Hallway room, lol...the Doctor comes by and says everything looks fine, but if you want to stay 24 hours, and take a treadmill test tomorrow itll be your call? I asked do you think its ok for me to go home? He said YES, but again my decision . You guessed it, I got the hell out of there! I feel absolutely horrible for folks especially the poor that depend on this type service. I know the staff was swamped, I know there computers were down, I get it....in their defense they were all friendly, and very cordial. It was to me a bad experience there.

I would give a ONE star if I could. I live out of state and my daughter who is only 20 was admitted. I called with the permission of my daughter (to speak with the doctors) and was told her nurse was with a patient and would call me back in just a few minutes. Also her doctor only does rounds and was NOT there. I waited HOURS and no nurse called me back. When I phoned hours later the nurse never even existed and I was switched around 4 times to 3 places/floors. Finally, an extremely RUDE English man names MARTIN got on the phone telling me he could not and would not tell me a thing. I had to wait until I spoke with my daughter. He couldnt even tell me what floor she was on and if she was admitted. Now I explained, I was mom living out of state and I had permission and had the nurse called me hours previously like planned this would not be an issue. He didnt seem to care or want to help. He "DIDNT LIKE MY TONE OR INSINUATION"! I can see why this hospital has a rating of 2 stars, they have no idea what "hospital-ity" actually means. How about actually caring about the fact that a parent may actually be frightened for their child and cant reach them in a quick car ride. Martin must not even own so much as a dog or gerbil as he was as heartless and cold as a brick. A hospital is the last place he should be working and a nurse is not the profession for him as you need to be caring for that line of work. I was finally helped in the end after calling back that night requesting the nursing supervisor. She was most helpful. But, I certainly went through several phonecalls, an entire day of waiting and being passed around to multiple people who were clueless and uncaring. Extremely frustrating and unnecessary stress added to what we were already dealing with.

Had i known you could write a review here I certainly would have done so a long time ago. Im a breast cancer survivor. In May 2012 I had a second biopsy at this hospital due to the surgeon not getting clear margins at the end of April 2012. I had trouble coming out of anesthesia from the 8am surgery for the biopsy. At 2pm they made me leave the hospital still not coping well and still nauseated from the drugs and not being able to move well at all. This is fine, ok. THEN, the female nurse (and yes it was a nurse and not an orderly or aide), took my arm to assist me out of bed and into the wheel chair rather abruptly as she seemed in a hurry and quite put out. My husband was getting the car and this nurse was wheeling me so roughly and jerking me around and jostling me around and shoving the wheelchair very fast. if I had not been so sick I would have given her a piece of my mind. I was throwing up and being jostled so much it felt like a ride at Disney. She practically dumped me in the car when he pulled up at the curb. Then she jerked the empty wheelchair around and hurriedly went back into the hospital. This was a day surgery not the ER. Thank GOD, I transferred from the surgeon there and from Wuesthoff over to MD Anderson in Orlando at ORMC for the mastectomy and reconstruction. If this is how patients are treated by ANYONE in that hospital, no thank you.........not ever again. I have told my family and friends dont EVER take me there EVER" . If I could have given NO stars I would have. Just after that I had to go to Wuesthoff Melbourne in the ER and I wont even start that fiasco. Anyway, the care, both medically and personally at the Cancer Center at ORMC I give 10 thousand stars!! They are great! So glad I transferred everything there.

I am writing a review to let everyone know not to ever come to this horrible place. I had my fiance attend this place due to an extreme pain all around her stomach. Trust me, I didnt want her to go, but her previous doctor made her feel like she needed to because he couldnt find an answer to her pain. So she went, the price to get her in a bed was over $800....OUCH!! that one hurt! Anyway, we knew the problem to her pain, it was her appendix. She had to spend 5 days in this hell hole being pumped full of drugs. The nurses hardly knew what they were doing, they put IVs in her which caused bruising. ( a bad tie of the tourniquet) It was all very unnecessary, we knew the problem but they wouldnt let us leave after day 1. They preformed soooo many unneeded tests and in the end, they said they didnt know the problem at all. We left on the 5th day and returned her home with the pain still in her stomach and many tears on her face. We finally decided to take her to a fortlauderdale hospital. They found the problem within 24 hours, and removed the gallbladder and appendix for only $200. (They gotten worse at Worst-off). The worst part was the unneeded bill, over $50,000 for those five days, luckily insurance covered majority but it still left a couple grand to pay off. My advice, DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE, unless you love stress, crying a lot, and overcharged medical bills. Youd be better off throwing them in a grave compared to these scumbags.
