REVIEW OF MATERNITY WARD If you value ANY kind of experience when having a baby, DONT do it here. I delivered in Feb 2017. Baby will be taken away from you immediately after birth. You WILL NOT get any bonding time to meet your child until the quacks that call themselves doctors are finished, this could be hours to days. You are placed in a filthy room , with dirty bathrooms and a piss poor bed. You are jailed here , NOT PERMITTED FRESH AIR OR SUNSHINE OF ANY KIND. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO GO OUTSIDE YOU ARE TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL AND BABY IS THEN TAGGED . You are given a menu to order food. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE. I realize hospital food is not the best but it should be at least eatable so you can recover and keep your strength up. You will not eat here. Plan for it. Breakfast will arrive wrong and at lunchtime. Lunch will arrive at dinnertime and they will call you and remind you to order dinner by six which arrives wrong , dirty and cold. I photographed the filth of my tray and food cover that hadnt been washed in a decade. REMEMBER you are not permitted to walk outside so recovering with zero food for days while expected to breastfeed is IMPOSSIBLE. You can have all the tap water you want says the nurse. This hospital pushes C SECTIONS for the money but rooms are not stocked with any post supplies like sanitary napkins, soap, clean towels or even toilet tissue. Doctor that comes in your room will be for ONE minute and they change everyday , know nothing about you and your needs. Nurses are unbelievably unqualified and cant keep your meds regulatory which leaves you in unbearable pain. The resident pediatrician Doctor Alba should NOT be working with children and has personality of wet mop.No talent in talking to parents at all and seems like hes got something to prove in life. He will give any excuse to keep your baby for extensive uncalled for testing while milking insurance. Any and All forms to be signed will be given to you under sedation. Never received consent to treat for my baby and never agreed to any of the horrific testing they put my baby through. If Dt. ALBA decides your baby needs to stay for whatever, you cant leave with your baby, if you disagree with his opinon IT JUST DOESNT MATTER, YOUR BABY IS ALSO JAILED AND CAN NOT LEAVE! Every test they ran came back negative , he kept her for two weeks. I found her swaddled in dirty blankets with a bandaid on it that wasnt hers. Before you can take your child home you have to do something called "boarding" . This is a 24 hour test period where you are again JAILED in a room with your baby and given no food options or access to mediCal care. No microwave or refrigerator to bring food or supplies or store fresh breast milk for baby. If you are breastfeeding , you cant WALK OUTSIDE to feed yourself for full 24 hours. This is completely inadequate health care from all angles. I was told I HAD to have my baby here or I was doomed to an emergency room elsewhere. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY AN EMERGENCY ROOM WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THIS !!! This hospital stole my birthing experience and sent me home with a traumatized child that cant sleep soundly from fear. Head nurse and pediatrician are evil people with issues. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE AND NOT TO THIS HOSPITAL. WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF HAVING BABY in a THIRD WORLD!!! I read the reviews while in hospital, same response to all of them, "we are committed to providing excellent service" blah blah blah .. I want to know why you have clearly made zero changes to your hospitals policies, food service, cleanliness, and so on. I want to know why your senior staff members feel as though they can treat people any way the want and seem to consider themselves above respect of any kind. I want answers as to why your food service team is the most racist and incompetent Ive ever experienced. Why do you answer your reviews with a phone number to privately speak instead of being honest on this forum. I want back the experience your hospital stole.

After all the good things I had heard about the womens center. Im truly disappointed and angry. If I ever have another child it absolutely will not be at piedmont. Poor care, my husband had to take me to the restroom and my father and friend had to bathe me following my c section. They never told me about a "moon pillow" to hold against my c section incision which caused pain on several occasions (sneezing/coughing). It was actually a sweet nurse in the nicu who brought me one while I was visiting my daughter in the nicu after I had been discharged. She was surprised they had not educated and offered me a moon pillow. I had issues asking for pain medication. Trying to space it out so I wouldnt be in as much pain while breastfeeding but the nurse double scanned and I wasnt able to get my pain medicine for several hours. She incorrectly scanned and did not inform the new shift. A few of the nurses and the anesthesiologists bedside manner are lacking to say the least. I had delayed skin to skin and breastfeeding. The same night my daughter was taken to the nicu for not being able to regulate her body temperature and blood sugar. (Hmm things skin to skin helps with) I also did not get to see the lactation consultant until day 3. My insurance pays for 4 days following a c section. After 3 days they tried to kick me out telling me my insurance wont cover. I got on the phone with my insurance and had to prove to them I am covered. Then the nurse came back to say that "oh well really we just need the bed. There are several people on delivery that have already delivered and we need the room." Now to top the cake, Karen in registration told me they do a prompt pay discount if I paid the entire bill at once. She said to wait for the bills to come in. I call them to see what they can do and Im informed they no longer offer prompt pay and they will email her and tell her she is giving wrong information. This is absolutely unacceptable care and too many issues to let go. Ive been in contact with several people and unfortunately I think this is being brushed under the rug. I will however not stop until Bill Masterton is aware of this atrocious stay. I will also tell everyone I know to stay away from piedmont.

I just want to say that after really having time to think about my Sons recovery throughout the week, I would REALLY like to acknowledge the nurses at the hospital especially in the Pediatrics unit. I honestly believe that it was the awesome nursing staff that helped make my Son well. So many people always only give credit to the Doctors but it is the nurses that truly make people better. Ds nurses always wore a smile, were knowledgeable and their heart was in it, when they held him, they held him close like we would. There was no arrogance, no this job is a drag and no Im just here for the paycheck attitude. People have so many bad things to say about Piedmont but once you are out of the ER (Which SUCKS A$$) their Womens center/Pediatrics unit was top notch. All of my kids were born at Piedmont and we NEVER once had anything negative to say about the care from the nurses we received, they knew their job and they executed it WELL, their bedside manner was incredible and at times some of the Doctors leaved a lot to be desired but not THIS time though. In Ds care we had good Doctors and AWESOME nurses and for that I am TRULY thankful. I GIVE THESE NURSES A 5 STAR RATING. On a separate note from my review up there I only gave this review 3 stars solely because of the ER, their protocols for potential infectious disease were lacking as my Son was in there with a bacterial infection called C Difficile or C Diff. My Son had bloody diarrhea leaking all over the place dripping out of his diaper on the chairs and the floor, he was vomiting and had a 104.5 fever. The staff in the ER never thought to isolate him or have him removed from the other patients in the ER waiting room and come to find out what my Son had is not only contagious but dangerous and to some people deadly. My Son and his Mother sat in the waiting room for 5 hours before being seen and another 4 hours in an ER room. Should he have had Ebola or some other highly infectious/contagious virus or disease it would have spread like wildfire, just some food for thought.
