So we discover my son has two kidney stone on last Monday. He woke up in extreme pain. We head to Johnston-Willis medical center in Richmond Va where the care and service was incredible. He could not pass the stones but he had to get on a plane to go back to college Friday morning. Once he got back in Daytona the extreme pain returned. So campus security took him to Halifax Health Center near campus. Now this is where this story becomes unbelievable. The admitting nurse set him in the lobby and left him there. When he knocked on the window to beg for someone to help him. She told him "dont to knock on the window this is not third grade" Then left him crying and screaming from pain for another half hour Once they got him in the back they told him they could not give him anything for pain until he urinated in a cup. That was why he was there! He tried and tried but could not. He was in such pain he resorted to drinking water out of the bath room sink, to try to fill the cup so they would get something for pain. When he fell out on the bathroom floor and another patient found him and told the nurse, "there is a guy moaning in the bathroom on the floor." She told him “dont worry he will be OK” ....and left him in the floor. Meanwhile my wife is on the phone trying to find out what in the world is going on. She ends up calling campus security and they go to the hospital to find out how he was doing. When the security guard finds my son and he is still in extreme pain without any medication. Upon the nurse seeing the guard she shouts to my son "You call them to pick you up? You are wasting my time.”. I get home Friday evening and learn about this. I immediately call directly to the emergency room at Halifax Health Center. The person answering the phone puts me off and tells me they are busy and no one can tell me about my son condition. By this time my sons phone has died and we are completely out of touch. The receptionist tells me that I have to talk to the supervising nurse and she will have her call me when she can. Eventually they give him an IV and something for pain. They confirm from Johnston-Willis he is suffering with these stones. When the pain subsides they send him home with no refills for any of the meds he got here in Richmond I guess she is still busy because I am still waiting for that return call two days later. Hey guys whenever you get a chance.......

Been there 2x recently. 1st incident was in mid 2015. I was pregnant, in my 3rd trimester. I had previously been seen by army doctors in California for prenatal care while active duty. I had many complications before that and they almost cut me open while pregnant to get my appendix out. Anyway, I was bleeding quite a bit so I took a trip to Halifax with my mom. The ER sent me to the birth center. While there, one of the main OB doctors arrived and started snapping at me that I was seeking attention, that it was clear with my new medicaid insurance I was trying to avoid the wait for registration with the hospital, etc. My mom got so mad and started telling her I was bleeding and that is why I was there. I WAS BLEEDING. This is the same freaking woman who is on the Halifax commercials, dark skinned with freckles. She can kiss my butt. We went to Memorial after that. Problem taken care of! She was so rude. My husband had actually just freaking committed suicide and I got out of the army all in one month. My body was so stressed. I was crying that entire visit. 2nd trip was this past month or so, this year, 2016. The nurse at my primary care doctors office and the nurse under my insurance plan both told me to go to the ER. I was fainting periodically throughout the day and I could not take care of my son at all nor drive myself to the doctors office until I could get a ride later in the evening and a babysitter. So I get there, the nurses were fine but the doctor, a male, got real snappy with me as well and accused me of seeking attention just like the last one. He asked if I had a history of that! I told him there is something wrong with me, I am passing out periodically through the day and I cannot drive to a doctor I am so messed up. He didnt care. They just did some basic lab, nothing crazy showed up. Sent me home where I continued to feel faint. Next day instead of nurses suggestions of ER, I got a ride to Centracare, they solved the problem.

My son was hit by a semi truck, I stood outside his room Pacing,as he laid in the room 4 hrs past without word from doctors. As a parent I was upset, As I paced outside his room, awaiting someone to read his cat scan,a young crew cut security guard asks me as he approached, Do you need something?Again in a dark tone he asked Do you, need something, I stated excuse me! he then changes his tone, and says water for the patent..I exclaimed he couldnt have water. This would delay his treatment, if any. He walked away. I went to the Nurse and told her what had just happened. The nurse acts as if she is going to talk to the Security Guard, but he has already left, she then tells me they are trained in Customer Service and offer people water....Id been there 6 hrs and not one did anyone offer me water??? She then starts to strip me down telling me the door I used to go to the car, was restricted. I looked there were no signs designating it as such and asked where the sign was, " We have rules" I asked where are those posted??? She then got a Stupervisor, and three guards to escort me out of the building...while my son lie alone ... Asking to see the Administrator, I was told to use the phone...out side! The Admin came, I explained and she went and got the same stupervisor, when she entered, She started with what I can do as they have rules, where I asked are they posted,,,,I walked out! My son upon his release, we found glass protruding out of his back, they never even addressed or dressed his wounds, told his to make an appointment with a specialist. Why one would ask, why go to the ER if only to be insulted and treated like yesterdays news....

What a terrible ER department. I have gone here for my daughters rash breakout and they didnt resolve the issue, I should have known to not go again to this place. I came because of an issue with my hand that was on going but my daughter accidently injured my hand even more today and its been in pain. I decided to go to the ER...the front staff and nurses were very kind, but then comes the Nurse Practitioner... she comes in asks a few questions, was very short with me and decides to diagnose me. She tells me shes going to prescribe me steroids and tylonal... really... thats it?!?! No blood work no testing..nothing! I told her well can I take steroids while breastfeeding? She said oh um I dont know but I can check if youd like....Duh! I asked her if any blood work can be done or xray to make sure its okay, she said no. Since I didnt get injured...didnt I say that my daughter accidently injured me and Im in pain??? Its crazy that she just decided to give me steroids and send me on my way. I decided to walk out because of how rude and uncorrespondent the NP was. Never been to a hospital this careless in their care.
