People will have good and bad things to say wherever you go. But I must compliment the staff of the childrens infection unit on the 3rd floor of Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cheema, Nurse Esther, Nurse Alie and nurse Coons as well as EVERY nurse we came into contact gave our child a fighting chance to live. After 3 weeks of not eating, daily vomiting and diarrhea, my child was on the brink of life or death. After 2 different pediatric visits we were referred to Wolfsons (the Nike brand of childrens hospitals) in which admitted our daughter for an overnight stay. We advised, there had to be an underlying cause and if they could follow the pediatricians recommendation of chest x-ray because the bacteria/viral was too much for the pediatrician to handle. We even suggested they check for pneumonia at this point because our daughter was now on week 3 of the illness. So we felt comfortable taking her to the experts to help our child but after being discharged with nothing more than an IV and Motrin, our opinion of Wolfsons job has been downgraded to an F! Post discharge, our child regressed, so I rushed her back to Wolfons because we were now in the red zone. I made it to the counter and the lady look as if she didnt want to help and rudely stated that my daughter would have to be re-admitted through their emergency area. So I grabbed my lethargic, dehydrated and sick daughter to the emergency room and was advised to sit in the waiting area for help. I try so hard to be civilized but my daughter was now dying in my arms as we waited and was in desperate need of help. Within an hour of waiting, my daughter began to convulse and vomit everywhere and instead of rushing her to the back for help, one of the nurses simply handed me a throw up bag. I told her we needed a doctor (not a throw up bag_ and thats when it hit me that I may lose my daughter at any moment. As I walked out of the bathroom to see if a doctor was coming, the young lady who checks vitals opens the door to call another child from the waiting room. She had on a mask and openly says to another employee; "Im trying my best to not get sick. Once hearing this I realized that my daughter was not in the best of care and demand they cut the wrist bracelet from her arm. I didnt know what to do other than get her away from Wolfsons and seek real help. I made it to my car and a voice told me to not to go home as I made a B line to Memorial hospital. After a week under memorials staff, my daughters life was spared. They went above and beyond to find the problem and rectify it before any further damage done to my daughters little body. We were discharged yesterday and with 14 more days of treatment, shes on the road to a full recovery. To know all of this could have been avoided by a simple chest x-ray leaves me baffled as to how a level 3 hospital in Wolfsons not exhaust all options with utilizing a simple chest x-ray to investigate. It was beyond negligent and if not for Memorials staff, my daughter wouldnt be here today. So thanks to Memorials pediatric unit (on the 3rd floor) and I hope this message is a reminder to all residents of Jacksonville that just because Wolfsons gets the funding, attention and fame for helping children it doesnt mean theyre the best option. Thank you to Memorial, Dr. Cheema, pediatric infectious disease doctor Katherine Ebbsworth-mojica, all the nurses for saving my babys life. I hope other parents understand theres other options and with the care of Memorials staff Id choose them any day versus the arrogance and neglect that Wolfsons displayed. Im not bashing them because they have done great things for many children but this effort should be shared among every child that walks into their facility and not a selected few. Memorial did a great job!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

If I could give this hospital ZERO stars I would. I came in because I am 20 year old female that was having EXTREME back and stomach pains. I told the triage that I had a UTI that had went away. But I was having major pain. Worse than Labor. Not only did I wait in the waiting room for over 2 hours screaming and crying in pain, the registration is what was holding me up. They wanted all of my payment information before I could be seen. I was shocked and nearly left at that moment. The ER wasnt busy at this point. When I finally got called back I immediately did a urine test. I laid in the bed for 45 minutes, the nurse came in and wanted to do a pelvic exam, I went in for the pelvic and came back. She then stated that she would NOW an hour later go run my urine to give me some pain medication. (Pregnancy test) before any pain meds. I get that. However, it took an hour to just test my urine. After she finally came in (because I paged for her) She gave me TYLENOL. Tylenol and I was curled over screaming in pain telling her it was worse than labor. I asked if they were going to do any scans on my kidneys or my appendix. After doing my own research I assumed that was what the problem was. The nurse said they were planning on doing multiple test. I said okay and continued the waiting game. After 20 minutes I hear the nurse in the hall say that there are alot of people waiting in the waiting room to be seen and they have no room. They need to get patients out. 5 minutes after the nurse comes in and gives me my discharge papers. With a diagnosis of a UTI. Not only did she ignore everything I said she straight up lied to my face about what the doctors were going to do. I was sent home. Only to go to St.Vincents and find out that I have a major Kidney infection and a Bladder Infection. Had surgery been necessary I would have sued the hell out of memorial hospital. PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF OR YOUR LOVED ONES. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. They do not care how you feel. They care about getting people in and out. It might as well of been a Care Center I went to. Absolutely PATHETIC experience. And all of this coming from a 20 year old, I hold myself with more professionalism than memorial hospital staff ever dreamed of.

How long do you have to wait, after you have reported a Dr at the Memorial Emergency Center on Atlantic, for being unprofessional to his patients . Reported this to Memorial Hospital on April 2nd or 3rd. Was told they would get back with me. Dont ever go to this Center for ER care. Told by Dr Mullis its for emergency only. I was told I was not an Emergency.after being there 120 minutes later. Not at the beginning. Had bunion/hammertoe surgery and Saturday morning it started bleeding and bandage was soaked. My Dr told me to go to Er. I went to this facility on Atlantic Blvd. Saw Dr 40 minutes later, said he was going after scissors. Never saw him again with those scissors till 40 minutes later. Cut bandage off, placed bloody bandage on counter. Walked out without saying anything. Came by my door 40 minutes later to tell me this was an Emergency ER Center and I was not an emergency . He did not say someone will come in and bandage you up as soon as they could. I told him I was an emergency and I was on blood thinner. Guess since blood wasnt pouring out I was not an emergency. Blood was coming out between incisions. I got so upset I told him I was leaving. Couldnt been more than 15 seconds guy was there with discharge papers. I got no treatment at all. Since my foot had no covering on it, I had to take sock off of other foot and put on injured foot to get heavy boot back on. I did ask guy if I could have gauze to wrap it when I got home. I had to get out of that horrible place., before I started having A fib and anxiety attack. If this Dr, should come back and say we offered to bandage foot up, they are lying. My sock was soaked from bleeding when I got Back home My Dr (did Surgery) gave me antibodies to take as it looked like I had some infection. On April 3rd The most horrible thing I have ever gone through This guy should not be a Dr, after I read all the reviews about him. I have been to that Center with other Drs that was very nice . They never told me I wasnt an emergency. Just beware if you go to this Center. This complaint is about Dr only, not staff or how long I was there.
