DisVet2013
I am a military veteran, and I have had to deal with a lot of doctors and hospitals across the country. I have dealt with Parrish Medical Hospital a couple of times, and I havent had a good experience either time... sadly. Now there are many great doctors that are apart of Parrish, but the Hospital is a different story. Specifically the E.R! My first visit was due to my daughter, she was a little over a year, and we just moved here. She had a really bad rash that was scaring and peeling. It was a terrifying experience. We first went to urgent care, and the doctor on call freaked out and said that he couldnt diagnose it because he has never seen anything like it, he explained to us that we should go to the E.R so that we could get a blood test. He couldnt because the lab was closed. We rushed to the E.R and as soon as we walked in the front desk accused us of chemically burning our daughter on purpose!!! What the Hell!!! We explained we just got here from a long drive across country, and they said they would be right out to get her ASAP. 5 Hours later, they came and got us, and an hour later the doctor came in. He explained he didnt know what it was, and called in four other E.R doctors. He came back and accused us of burning our daughter and said he could do nothing about it. He gave us some over the counter cream. I asked if we could get blood test done, like other doctor said. He told me the other doctor didnt know anything, and he wasnt going to waste his time. I of course was furious and might of over reacted. A couple days later we got a separate doctor appointment, since the E.R visit was on a Saturday. The new doctor immediately explained it didnt look anything like a chemical burn, with his explanation. We used the cream from the other doctor with nothing changing, only becoming worse. The new doctor gave us a antibiotic and a new bacterial cream. He said it was obviously a bacterial infection. Literally less than 9 hours later the rash looked 80% better. The doctor explained how bad the diagnostic of the E.R doc was, and asked for his name, so of course obliged! Tonight my son became ill, started to break out in a rash, 102+ fever, the rash spread into his mouth, ears, etc. We got there at 11 A.M on a Monday, with less than 8 people. We were called back at 4! But we were only called back to the secondary waiting area, where we waited for 3 more hours! The doctor called us back and stopped me and said your kids are too loud, only 1 parent. Of course I was upset, you try to keep 2 kids quite under the age of 3. I kept calm, but my wife tells me that the doctor made my son cry because he turned his head all the way around by his infected ear!!!!!!!!!!! I blew up, and this review is my vent. I want to tell people the truth about this place. I know that people can get on here and right ridiculous reviews, but this is the truth, no lies or overextending the truth. This Hospital is bad, and cant even begin to explain. Think twice before choosing Parrish Medical Hospital. But remember not all Parrish doctors are created equal, some are truly amazing at what they do.

Dear Parrish, I believe the people calling themselves "Doctors" would benefit greatly from reading this. It seems in all their studies they forgot they were treating people and not just sickness and disease. Please print this and display for the people with the title of "Doctor" to read everyday, lest they not forget what it truly means to be a Doctor. Another solution would be to fire all the Doctors and let the Nurses Treat the patients, they are way better at it. I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required, avoiding those twin traps of over-treatment and therapeutic nihilism. I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeons knife or the chemists drug. I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patients recovery. I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God. I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the persons family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick. I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure. I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm. If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help. "Written in 1964 by Louis Lasagna, Academic Dean of the School of Medicine at Tufts University, and used in many medical schools today and should also be used at Parrish Hospital".

Worst place ever! It must look nice from the inside out; but looks can be misleading. I went there waited 3hrs with chills and a an odd lower back pain (the ones I usually get with a UTI) I had a burning and a frequent sensation to urinate...to the point which made me dehydrate. They took my vitals and urine sample and the urine came out negative...but you can get a negative positive result if the urine has not been tested as a culture test...which in my understanding that can take days for result. Doctor was really non polite...after I explained what I felt; he dismissed my concern...with questions about my anxiety. Anxiety? at that point I was not anxious but concerned about how sick I felt...I have ADHD, Anxiety, and suffer from depression...and now my physical pain was somewhat linked to the "list of psychiatric meds" I had mentioned I was on? Not mentioning the fact that I had medicaid and we all know that medicaid pays little to zero to these hospitals...I even asked for a extensive blood work who can determine if I actually had an infection building up...MD response was we do not do that type of testing here...my face about dropped...he dismissed himself later the RN came in and shoved in my mouth a Vicodin; then discharged me out of the hospital. Unfortunately if you carry medicaid you are treated like a peasant but if you have a five star insurance they will treat you with royalty and take you up a room as soon as they can to drain the life out of the insurance...we are not treated with equality nowadays; we are singled out by financial status and medical insurances. I rather drive to Health Central or ORMC in Orlando...than to EVER be treated like the way I was treated by these people. Sorry but I cannot recommend this place ever!
