This was a last check on my 91year old mother after having cataract surgery in June. The office canceled the appt we had scheduled by sending us a letter and giving us a random date for the new appt. I had to call and change it. Our newly scheduled appt was at 3:45pm. They have this chalk-board up on the wall behind the checkin -position with a running time of how behind the doctors are. Two doctors had no wait time. Dr Carol Ziel stated 1hr wait from your. check-in time. We were called back fairly quickly by an assistant that check my mothers eyes and then sent us back to the waiting room where we waited and waited and waited. So one hour passed as the chalk-board predicted.. my mother who is very frail and all of seventy pounds went up to the desk ( I thot, well maybe they will have mercy on her) but no we waited some more.. We were called back at 5:25pm and sat a little more in the room ... Dr Ziel blew in , all loud and friendly asking how we were .. and I said" we are really perturbed with this delay. My mother is about to miss her dinner meal at the assisted living facility. And she said, " Oh I know"......NO apology.. Into the conversation with my mother , she determined that she would write a prescription for eye drops. I said we need a "paper prescription" that we give to the staff on moms floor, they call it in to their central pharmacy.. We get back to the lobby, the lights are off, the people and employees are gone. One of the girls hurriedly hands us a piece of paper off the printer.. I didnt look at it..in a hurry to get my hungry mom back to the facility. Give it to the girls..turns out it was no script. It was the charge for the office visit... Several days of not knowing this..took mulptile calls to Ziels office...finally settled after the Thanksgiving holiday, my mom has her drops...the dr appt was 19Nov. Dr Ziel is well thot of but I do believe that there must be other drs in this city that have as much as experience as she does...that dont make the patient and the patients family feel like they are being jerked around..and totally exhausted for just a 10min check-up. We will be changing doctors. And I might add that all of her appts. over the years have always been delayed but there is just no call for this kind of service. We will be looking for a new doctor.

This is the worst run office I have ever seen. My elderly mother had a procedure done last year and has had numerous follow-ups. Nothing really needs to be done, but we have to go back over and over and every single time, her doctor (Gandhi) has a "delay time" posted. Always at least one and a half hours, and it usually gets increased as you sit there. It feels so hopeless. It is so hopeless. One time it was THREE hours wait, so we were there about 5 hours. I have to go from my home town to hers and then to Winston Salem, an hours travel time, then wait 3-5 hours and then an hour travel time back home. The office knows our situation, but nothing ever changes. We cant say, "Please reschedule, we cant wait any longer" because it happens every time and weve already driven an hour to get there, and I really never want to go back there. Poorly, poorly run. Grossly overscheduled, and totally uncaring about the patients situations. Most in the waiting room are elderly. It is unconscionable.

I received a phone call from the doctor. I told her she must have wrote the number down wrong because I wasnt a patient at her office. The doctor was rude and said no she didnt write it down wrong this is the number they left. I told her again she must have wrote the number down wromg. Its ok lady everyone makes mistakes.

I brought my mom down for a eye visit and her appointment was at 2:30pm its after 5pm now and still waiting. If you do have to come here make sure to pack your dinner. Looks like their closing now the nurse is turning off the lights and cleaning up. This is aggravating!!!!!

Its true that the wait times are long, but the care is top-notch. If you need excellent care from specialists and can handle the long waits, this is the place for you. (Id give them five stars, but Im penalizing them one star because of the waits.)
