I have been a patient at Friendly Smiles for years. Due to financial reasons Ive been unable to return as frequently as I wanted. Two years have now passed, but as many, no symptoms means other financial obligations had to come first. Apparently, Friendly Smiles is not so friendly. Yesterday, I received a Certified Letter stating, in part: "If you have not been getting regular dental care elsewhere, we do strongly suggest you make an appointment as soon as possible with us or another dentist." "If we do not hear from you in the next 30 days, we will assume that you are being treated with another dentist and will consider our dentist-patient relationship with you to have ended. I will be available to treat any emergencies you may have for the next 30 days, PROVIDED THAT YOU CALL MY OFFICE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT." Since emergencies are not able to be scheduled, Dr. Barfield makes it clear that the only way they will treat me should an emergency arise is that I MUST CALL TO MAKE A REGULAR APPOINTMENT NOW regardless of whether I can afford one, need one, or want one at this time. AMAZING! This office apparently find no value in patients who have always paid immediately (me); do not use insurance which saves them time and money (always paid in full at time of service)(me). I cost them NOTHING to sit in their file cabinet until I can afford and/or need to come back. I have spent THOUSANDS on dental work with them, but they are booting me UNLESS I make an appointment within 30 days of their letter. The dentist-patient relationship is not as important to them as a steady stream of income when THEY think they need income. SO SHORT SIGHTED because those who do not come in on a regular basis for expensive x-rays and cleaning are very likely to need dental work beyond the regular x-rays and cleaning. Dr. Barfield: very disappointing to see this from you, to say the least.

I was very happy with friendly smile when I first started going. The hygienists were nice and did a great job and I like Dr. Barfield. However, when I went back this year and saw a different doctor, things changed. I had my first cavities ever. I was quoted my payment two days prior to going in only to find out that my payment would be 80% more when I got there! And I have also received another bill in the mail. But here is the big problem. The dentist Dr. Mahale, kept watching TV while fixing my cavities! Then I went back because I had one that was still hurting and she told me nothing was wrong with it. So, her bedside manner is not great either. She also asked me if I was pregnant and working in a different job field. So, they try and their facts from the files and she obviously got hers mixed up. I dont want my dentist to be my friend, I want a dentist to do their job professionally. I still have a tooth that hurts and I dont want to go back to see her because she made me so uncomfortable! They also sent me a letter asking me to write a review, so I did.

Ive moved away from the area and it was honestly easier to replace my hairdresser, our chiropractor, and our auto mechanic than it was to replace our dental hygienist. She was honestly that good. (Im sure they have a few great hygienists, but I saw Danielle) I went to Friendly Smiles in Fargo and loved it. I went for a few years and saw 3 or 4 different dentists over the course of time- all were good. The Hygienist though; was fantastic. Thats what matters more to me, I see her every time Im there, and spend the most time with her. Thats who I really want to take care of me. I went 4 times/year for cleanings and she did a great job and I never had any pain or discomfort. She explained procedures well and genuinely motivated me to have better dental health. (I definitely cant say that about any other dental team Ive had in the past) A pleasant dental experience might be worth a 4 hour drive cross state.. I might be back to visit if I cant find a good hygienist in my new area.

I just started going to Friendly Smiles Cosmetic Dentistry and have been very impressed with them! The people who answer the phone and schedule appointments are fantastic and make a great first impression. I was a little nervous about the first appointment because they said it would take 2 hours. However, time went by fast and I really felt like they took the time to thoroughly check what is going on with my teeth, gums and general oral health. The doctor and hygienist were great and I trust them completely! I highly recommend Friendly Smiles, especially for someone who is anxious about going to the dentist. They do everything they can to make you feel comfortable!

The staff is wonderful and very warm. Dr. Barfield was amazing to work and in trying to correct a disaster that was created by another dentist in town she assured me she would take care of things. I never once felt like I was not important. Dani who was her assistant through my process was with me every step of the way and made sure my concerns were heard and dealt with. They were patient and made sure that everything was perfect even if it took several additional trips. Love this group of people and I am a patient for life. Thanks everyone!!!!

From my first phone call to entering the practice, all employees were very professional. I was greeted w/ a SMILE & was seated for my appointment in a matter of minutes. They have a very clean & up to date office. The rooms that your treated in even have T.Vs. to watch as they work on your teeth. Dr. Barfield was very clear on treatment that was needed & even gave me a treatment plan before I scheduled any appointments. I would highly recommend calling the Friendly Smiles Team they are great!!!

Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist. Pursuant to the letter I received from Dr. Brenda Barfield & Family Smiles Dentistrys, retained lawyers of Anderson, Bottrell, Sanden & Thompson, I am removing the content of my review. I have personally & financially moved past this event and no longer wish to have this brought up, as it was today, over 9 months after my familys initial appointments occurred. Please, re-consider your decision to visit this business very carefully

I have been a patient at Friendly Smiles for a little over a year now and have ALWAYS experienced fantastic customer service and had great work done on my teeth. My hygienist, Danielle R., is always super funny, easy to get along with, insures I am always comfortable, and makes my overall experience at the dentist a great one. I now look forward to my dental appointments because of the great atmosphere and wonderful people at Friendly Smiles Cosmetic Dentistry.

Alarmist indeed! Apparently I have 14 cavities. Cost out of pocket with ins taken into account would be $3,264. Yeah, I am getting a second opinion. I agree with the two negative views wholeheartedly. This clinic is out to get your money. Beware. Also, unfriendly (fake) hygienist. Dentist was friendly. Hygienist kept screwing up with taking my bite-wing images. Chairside manners not the greatest.
