I took my son, who has been a patient for the past 8 years, to get his 7th grade immunizations. Heres how it went: Arrived 15 minutes early, as you should. (Dont want to screw up their appointment schedule. THEIR time is important.) Waited about 30 minutes, then was called to the back. Registration. No problem. Until it took 24 minutes to register that a patient of 8 years was there for his appointment. NO new insurance, address, phone, etc. Once completed, sent back to waiting room. 16 more minutes. When in the exam room the nurse told me that the immunization I had made the appointment to get was already given in 2011. I showed her the paper the school had given me and she said they were wrong, they didnt understand about vaccines. She left the room, presumably to get the vaccines. Wait, wait, wait. Trying to teach my son patience, even though I myself am getting pretty steamed. Enter the doctor. Talked for 14 minutes. He leaves. Finally! The nurse will SURELY be back to give shots any minute now. NOPE. At the 1 hour and 45 minute total appt time I had to go find the doctor. 12 more minutes. When the shots were finished we were sent to checkout, but had to wait another 23 minutes to get a letter for him to be allowed to carry his inhaler at school, even though I had mentioned it to registration, the nurse, and the doctor. Now hes being excluded from school because HE HASNT HAD THE IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIRED BY LAW. Because I thought the doctors office must know better than the school what shots THEIR patient needed. This was a great office years ago, but it most definitely has changed. Dont risk your health or waste your time by going to this office.

Weve been looking for a new family doctor for a few years now (Ive needed one since I moved to town, my husband needed one... mainly because his old doctor is, well. "He was a good doctor ~BEFORE~ the stroke" is never what you want to hear!) and after some calling around I was actually suggested the Barberton Family Practice (located in the hospital) by a few nurses at ~other~ clinics! Since I was sick, they got me in the very next day. The staff is fabulous - efficient, quick to get you passed on through to who you need to see, and the Dr (Dr Khalid Sindu - who was excellent.) I saw listened and dealt with the issue quickly. The only thing some people might not realize when they call is it IS a teaching practice, you will see residents along with the doctor. But they are polite and give you the choice if you are comfortable with them staying or not. And knowing its your call makes it a lot easier to deal with. In the case of myself and my husband, residents are actually nice to see - both they and the doctors are closer to our ages so it was rather pleasant to be treated like a peer - not a sick truculent child who was expected to simply speak only when spoken to and do as they are told. (Can you tell Ive had some bad experiences with the medical field?) As much as I loathe GOING to the doctor, Im glad I finally found the BFP. Took me a few years living in the area, but I have found my families medical provider. Really excellent people working there. (Seriously - the doctor was great, but as everyone knows the real power behind the needles are the nurses. And the nurses and other staff? Amazingly friendly and great at the job.)

Doctors are proficient, but the office staff never answers the phone. Ever. You are guaranteed to wait on hold for a long time, and then be sent to their answering service. The people at the answering service have very little ability to do things other than take a message. Not their fault- theyre an answering service, not office staff. If it were possible to actually get in touch with someone at the office when needed, I would rate higher. But when it comes down to it, I need to be able to schedule appointments, get in touch with doctors, request medication refills, etc. for my five kids within minutes. I do not have time to wait on hold for 10 plus minutes only to be sent to an answering service who cannot necessarily do what I need done. In addition, half the time when the answering service takes a message, the office never calls back. Very poor service. After having gone there for a year, I will now be transferring my children back to the pediatrician we saw before, even though its farther from our home. Its worth the drive, to go to an office where you can contact the staff on your first try, get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time, and deal with competent people.

These incompetent fools would not listen to me about my daughters continual eye discharge that she had for at least nine months. Over nine months of thick yellow discharge that would encrust her eyes shut and they claimed was not a problem. Then, finally they got sick of me complaining and prescribed her a strong antibiotic without even testing her blood or taking any swabs to see if she had an infection. Then, when I gave it to her she became severely dehydrated. I took her to the same hospital that prescribed the medicine and they told me that they couldnt take care of someone so young and that I had to find a way out to Akron. After an hour later waiting for a cab, Childrens Hospital ER staff informed me that the antibiotic wasnt even to be given to children under the age of seven years old, and even then in only extreme cases. They had this ER nurse so irate I could hear her cursing for a good ten minutes. My baby was under a year old. They tried to kill her.

Office staff is always rude and unorganized. Last appointment I attempted to make they wanted me to verify my childs phone number..? Why? In the end, the hung up on me... And then shut the phones down a half hour before they were closed. The time previous I made an appt for a depo shot. They gave the previous shot but rescheduled it too soon, so the day of the appointment they called and told me to reschedule... the time before that, we were literally in there for 2 hours...... havent had a pleasant experience there yet, although I was told years ago it was a good place to go. Looking for a new doctor for my step daughter.
