I had the absolute worst experience here today. My dog was hit by a car this morning. I called our regular vet (Total Pet Care) and was told they would not have a doctor in the office until 10am, but let me know how critical it is for him to be seen as soon as possible as he could have internal injuries. They referred me to the emergency center on Chesterfield in Maumee. I loaded my dog in the car and rushed out as quickly as I could. Upon arrival, the doors were locked, so I tugged on the door to get someones attention. A lady soon came to open the door and, instead of inviting us in, said with a confused look, can I help you?. I was standing outside with a dog that was whimpering and limping.... She finally let us in and took us back to gather information. She then starts to explain fees to me. I let her know the cost was not a problem, but I left the house in a rush and forgot my purse. I explained that I could have someone call and make a payment over the phone, or I could run home during the exam (leaving my dog so they knew I would come back). The vet tech was extremely rude and said she would have to speak with the doctor. The whole time she was speaking to me, she was looking me up and down as if I was not worthy. (I had just gotten out of bed, messy hair, no makeup, wearing what I could throw on quick). I truly believe she acted the way she did, because I didnt look like I could afford treatment. When in reality, I would have paid anything to save my dog. When the vet tech stepped out of the room to ask the doctor if we could be seen, I could hear them talking. One said "well how do we know shell even come back?". The entire time I was in the office, not one person acknowledged my injured dog. The vet tech returned to the room and I explained that I would make the payment, although I didnt believe it was right for them to be solely concerned with payment only. The vet tech replied with "well maam, this is a business". Which caught me completely off guard. I could not believe the response, I was enraged. However, her response had confirmed my original belief. I work in a dental office, so I completely understand the business aspect. But that cannot be all that is important. You have to care about what you do. And you have to do what youre there to do.. provide health care for those in need. I ended up leaving without my dog being seen.. having to carry him, again, to my car. (Which is not as easy as it sounds, as he is an english mastiff). By this time, Total Pet Care was open. When I arrived, 4 people met me at the door and took care of my dog, no question. They also recieved payment of around $500, that the ER Vet would have received, had they given me a chance and did their job. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I agree with Tammy T. They are only looking to make a big pay day on a sick or hurt pet. I was not told of a $500 deposit due till after I had driven my pet to them for care. The staff kept calling my female pet a male to start. I was also told that I would get updates from them since my home vet was closed for the weekend.I visited many time over the weekend and yet was never told that my pet must be picked up by 8am on Monday. I did get a call at 755 am as I was at work. I also was asked to pay for more meds for my dog in the saturday visit because they felt that the meds they were giving her were not working. More money. My vet himself was great enough to pick up my female pet himself that morning and take to his office as I was at work and could not leave. I also had to make the choice to put my female dog down later that day. I even got a call from them as I was on my way to my vets to say good by and they called to tell me that their card reader did not work so they could get the $1000 balance on my pets care/ or lack of care. So I was told to return after I put my pet down so that they could get the payment that night. How does the staff never know that the pet was female not a male as they spoke of her to me in person and over the phone. One star is too much for they.

The staff at Dogwood saved our pitbull Paisleys life!!! She was hit by a vehicle, and we thought we were going to lose her...the staff was so kind, understanding, knowledgeable, and always offered for us to call and visit during our pups most critical time! There arent enough good things to say about staff - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

What a great experience! Obviously the emergency itself was an unwelcome experience, but the care my dog received was top notch. I hope to avoid further situations, but should the need arise again I will not hesitate to take my little guy to Dogwood again.

They dont even deserve one star. The amount of disrespect I received from the vet I was assigned is imaginable. I wouldnt recommend this vet hospital to anyone.
