This weekend I visited the ER with an excruciating level of pain. I had last a cap to the tooth and after trying unsuccessfully all day Saturday to get a dental appointment I found myself in such pain I decided to go to the Parma ER at 3am on Easter Sunday morning. I was finally able to be seen by the triage nurse at 345 am. When asked what my level of pain was from 0-10 I told him an 18. My ear, jaw, eye and tooth pain had me shaking and nearly in tears. The triage nurse was cold and unsympathetic and seemed to take forever to look up my past chart which had my allergies listed incorrectly. The only time he moved quickly was when I told him Im going to need a bucket. so that I could vomit from the pain. We were then taken to an exam room at the back of the hall where we waited over 4 hours with NO visit from the Dr. During that time we only heard her once visiting with a patient near my room. After two hours of unbearable pain my wife began asking when we would see the Dr and explained my level of pain to the staff. She was met with the comment Were very busy and there is only one Dr." I was amazed that there was only one Dr on a Saturday night, during a full moon and during the first of the month, which is atypical high volume time for most ERs. When we arrived there were only 4 other patients in the waiting room. The pain continued to escalate to the point that I vomited on the floor several times. Despite my wife telling the desk staff, NO ONE came to check on my condition and NO ONE came to clean it up. Finally a nurse by the name of Bill came in to check on me (after nearly 2 hours this was the first time we saw anyone) and he said the Dr had prescribes an anti-nausea pill, which he gave me along with a cold compress. At this point there was still no sign of the Dr. My wife again attempted to convey to the staff my level of pain which now had me sobbing uncontrollably. My wife was so angry at this point but still couldnt get the Dr. to see me. Aftre 4 hours of the worst pain I have ever had that had me begging the nurse to see the Dr. the nurse told me that his hands were tied but that the Dr had written orders to give me a 600 mg Motrin even though she had not even seen me or diagnosed me yet. At this point we told Bill about how dissatisfied we were and asked how much longer it would be to see the Dr. He told us that there were three other patients before us. An hour later we still had not seen the Dr or even heard her on the floor. We decided to leave and stopped at the desk to say "were leaving!" "Okaaaaay By-eeeeee," said the young woman at the desk who didnt even comprehend the situation and why we were leaving. An older nurse, who we had not seen up to this point, looked at the clock and said "Dont leave." After having the worst care I have ever received and given the pain level I was in I cannot believe the treatment level was so poor or uncaring. As my wife helped me down the corridor and back to the car she noticed a plaque on the wall and turned to the staff at the desk and yelled "Pillar of Care. my ASS!" Parma Hospital you should be ashamed of yourself!

I live less then 3 minutes away. And Id rather walk on broken legs to southwest then ever step foot in Parma hospital again.. I dont care if I had a gun shot wound.. Take me to southwest or the clinic... You have a better chance of survival anyway... Terrible service for years now. Un informative doctors.. Terrible wait times in the ER. Even with early check in online... A few years back I was in an accident. Taken to metro. My hand which recently had surgery on it was broken in many places... Not found at metro. I went to Parma. Im told its swelling. I had the surgery out of state. So I was counting on a home town hospital to help..... Completely worthless.. I went to southwest and they seen all the new breaks immediately!!! And I was sent back to my surgeon with all the info needed for another surgery.. There staff seems to be plain rude... And seems like if you dont have chest pains your not going to be seen for hours... My father had both knees replaced there.. Eccelent service on the ortho floor.. Few days later he developed a fever. We were quite concerned about infection... We called his surgeon who immediately told us to take him to the ER and be examined for fear of infection in a fresh wound... We sat there him in a wheel chair and not taken any pain meds for hours at this point. And waited for almost 4 hours before being seen.. All for them to admit him instantly anyway... Even the surgeon was disappointed In the service!! And apologizing for there incompetence!!! Truly a failure of the health care system in my eyes.. And should be closed until they are able to employee competent staff nurses and doctors!!!! My opinion go to southwest or the clinic!!!

This is the WORST hospital ever! I was very disappointed especially since it is part of University Hospitals. We have always had perfect care when we have visited other locations. I ended up in the ER this past Monday for severe stomach pain. After waiting for two hours to only be placed in some out of way room in the back it took over two hours to see someone. No greeting no can I get you something or heres the call button. They have no people skills! Apparently a PA came in and never identified himself as one. His exam was a minute at best. Touched my stomach for 10 seconds. Didnt care what I had to say or what the urgent care doctor said! He ordered test. Didnt see anyone else for two hours! Only nice people I ran into was the registration lady and the radiology people. Another doctor came in about two hours after test and said everything looks good. Ask why am I having pain. Her answer. I dont know go ask your doctor and we will be discharging you and by the way we will give you a prescription for narcotics! Go figure if you cant solve it just throw pain meds! I just cant put to words how awful they are. The hospital is run down so sterile and the people are just the same. Drive a few more minutes and go to the ER at Southwest or drive to main campus. If it is for your kid Rainbow downtown is the BEST. Great care for kids and wonderful to parents. STAY AWAY FROM PARMA!!!

Its hit or miss at this hospital and a miss or time than not. I have personally waited hours to be seen even when the waiting room is empty which is pretty rare because they take so long its usually backed up. Then there has been a time or two the waiting room was full and I was taken quickly. Some of the staff there is excellent, a lot of the staff isnt (not talking doctors) although a family friend of mine told me recently his friend was giving him a ride and he was showing signs of an overdose, the driver not my friend (My friend doesnt do drugs.) So my friend had no idea what to do, he rushed him to Parma hospital and he was treated horribly by the doctors an nurses. His friend was being brought in on stretcher outside and he went to go to waiting room and the doctor wouldnt even let him inside they were treating him like he was some kind of drug addict criminal when all he was doing was trying to save his friend (who he didnt even think did drugs until that day.) They were EXTREMELY rude to him and yelled at him to stay outside, how does that make any sense?? My friend is trying to find out that doctors name so we can call and report her as well as report her on here.
