I was admitted by a doctor (I prefer not to name her) through the ER. Instructions were for me to receive "immediate cardiac monitoring". OVER TWO HOURS LATER, I was STILL not on cardiac monitoring! This "concierge" doctor came in during my admission, and did nothing to correct the (her) perceived problem, and kept me in the hospital for no other identifiable diagnosis. After speaking with a Medicare representative, I decided to (with their agreement) sign out AMA (against Dr.s medical advice), as I had no diagnosis which needed hospital treatment! I am a physician myself, and have NEVER had such an abysmal experience in any hospital, nor received such (poor/non-) treatment before. After questioning why I was not yet receiving the ordered urgent cardiac monitoring, I was berated by two nurses on shift that afternoon for kindly bringing the error to their attention. I have never before or since experienced such unnecessary and rude behavior by a medical professional. In addition, after reviewing the case with many colleagues in multiple specialties, our collective opinion (based on unbiased facts) is : my hospital stay was not only lengthy given the reason for the admission, lack of any medical issues diagnosed, but completely unnecessary. My case is just one of many Ive heard reporting negative healthcare experiences. Some patients I spoke with even stated they felt their admissions seemed unnecessary, and were perhaps financially motivated. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone seeking good inpatient medical care. My experiences with both Lee Memorial and Physicians Regional Hospitals were wonderful as compared to NCH. Medical consumers: you have several options in Collier County. Choose wisely. I do hope the care given at NCH since my admission, and those of other patients, has greatly improved.

Well at best 1 star, my wife was sent to there by here doctor, straight to the ER 4 blocks away, only to find her sitting in the waiting room just like everyone who drove, her Dr felt the need to get her there ASAP. DUE TO BREATHING COMPLICATIONS......WHEN SHE ARRIVED from the ambulance, they took her off the gourny with IV in her, and oxygen and wheeled her straight to the waiting room, and not one person checked on her from the ambulance, so after 45 min, I finally went to the window for intake and was told they had no beds or Dr, I would think that protocol from the ambulance alone, would of checked on this Pryor to leaving, ER Dr office, NO, she latterly sat in waiting room breathing 40 breather per minute as she could not breath as she had still be on 2 liters of oxygen, needless to say after 45 min of just sitting there, she got in intake, the nurse was extremely rude, kept telling her she needs to stop breathing so fast, like she had a choice, after intake nurse they sat her back in the waiting room, now only to wait on blood work, what a mess, pay thousands for a 4 blocks trip only to be treated as she was having breathing problems like she walked in and then to be trea5ed as if she was doing wrong, was unable heard off, bottom line, she could of been having a heart attack for all they new, but since not one person even touched her other then wheeling her into the waiting room, she would of probably died, So please dont take your loved one here, the service was the worst I had ever seen...especially when it was serious enough that her family Dr sent her straight from his office, to erin and they litterly sat there for darn near a hour before anyone even checked on her...

I agree with the majority of the reviews on here that even giving the NCH ER one star is generous. On Memorial Day, I went in with sharp throat pain I got immediately after swallowing a bite of burger. I let the doctors & nurses know this fact repeatedly. I would up leaving the ER undiagnosed with no treatment except advice to "take Motrin & gargle salt water" for my throat pain since it seemed to them it was a "sore throat" but they werent exactly sure what was going on. The doctor even openly mocked me to a nurse, by saying within my earshot, "Has she ever had a sore throat before?" Turns out (after further treatment in another city), I had a metal grill brush bristle lodged in my throat which required surgery to remove. This was an obvious fact after having a CT scan & X-ray. The NCH ER performed neither of these on me during my stay. However, after filing a grievance case against the hospital, they lied to me; stating I did have a CT scan during my stay & that I did not tell them I got the pain immediately after eating a burger. Furthermore, they also lied to me about who they recommend for follow-up treatment (they claimed to refer me to an ENT, yet they just referred me to an internist). I have all their lies in writing. There is so much more to this story, but I just wanted to share a little of my story in a warning to others! DO NOT go to the NCH ER if you can help it - it is worth the drive elsewhere & I wish I had gone somewhere else immediately.

This is the worst hospital. Yes it looks "pretty" they did a nice job dressing it up and they have good food (hence the 2 stars), but the staff is horrible. I rushed my son in for cyanosis to the downtown hospital, they immediately were able to get a blood draw with one poke, after we were admitted and they had to transfer us to the north hospital because they specialize in pediatrics. Much to my surprise the specialists there couldnt even get a blood draw....4 times and still had to resort to a heel stick. Meanwhile my son is screaming hysterically. Also the nurses couldnt help but make comments on the sons condition, not that they were over the top rude, but arent nurses supposed to have some sort of kindness or compassion? That is completely lacking at this hospital. People keep asking why I delivered my son at Health Park Hospital in Ft myers, this is exactly why. The staff at NCH should do internships at Health Park to learn a thing or two. Also my sons doctor told me to freshen up on my CPR knowledge during my stay and I had to ask repeatedly for this information and the nurse just drops off a DVD player that didnt even work. I was told his new prescription would be ready the next day yet to my surprise the pharmacy tells me the hospital didnt complete the insurance information and I had to wait 3 days for my son to get his meds. I hate that this is my closest childrens hospital.

Our 88yr old mother was brought to ur hospital by ambulance twice. She has osteoporosis. She has a break in her L3 vertebrae. The first time they sent her home on pain meds. Second time , we fought w the Dr to admit her. They did. They kept giving Her morphine. She threw up. Then gave her throw up pill. She had crazy patients in bed next to her. First one never stop talking. The second one had Alzheimers n broken leg. She yelled morning thru nite. Mom got no sleep for 3 days. We fought the house Dr. To consult w a neurologist. My neighbor gave us her Dr. He is Dr colon. He looked at her MRI. Recommended a steroid shot in her back. No surgery. They said it would last 3 months. But did not. She was good first day. I wanted her to fly back to akron. House Dr said no several times! Dr. In Akron r smarter. Instead, they put her in Imperial nursing home. Not good experience. More pain pills n got weaker. My brother in law spent $20,000, on a private med jet. The Dr in Akron is doing surgery this Tuesday! Mom should not have suffered sooo long! Naples community should be ashamed that they call themselves a hospital!! Allio family
