Horrible experience. We were visitors when I choose this hospital due to our poximetry and my husband having symptoms of a heart attack. The ER was dirty and lined with very ill individuals waiting forever for someone to treat them. Even with increasing symptoms of a heart attack we waited more than 2 hours to see a physician. Once in the dirty ER many incidents of way less than sterile techniques observered, let alone HIPPA is not observed here. With hallways lined with very ill people and overcrowded rooms. Anyone could here anyone elses conversations! Dr Vinny was a great Dr. But working in the resemblance of a mash unit was very difficult. We spent 12 hrs in ER before getting a hospital room. Then of course no HIPPA observed and we knew the other pt. has an infection of unknown origin, while my husband has infection of ecoli, heart attack with gallbladder problems. We spent 4 days inpatient at the hospital with 4 Drs delivering care. One was extremely rude to our Nurse and then to me. When confronted the next day he denied it at first and said sorry when he left! This was Dr. Geliss. Being from out of state I was trying to clarify if my very ill husband needed to do a test that we would be unable to treat there due to his significant heart problem history. Dr Geliss refused to discuss this with me! The cardiac Drs refused to get my husbands heart medical record from IL. until the NP came by. Once I explained this she facilitated a Dr to Dr call witch was very necessary early on in treatment. The nurses on all shifts were excelent! I read several comments and the reply from the hospital always tell everyone to call the number they provide to manage their complaints. Well I CALLED THE NUMBER THIS WEDNESDAY AND GUESS WHAT......NO ONE HAS CALLED ME AND IT IS NOW FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!! I have been a health provider for > 30 years as a Nurse, manger of a unit, planned programs, and taught nursing for 12 yrs. and I have never had such terrible care for my husband from these Drs. As I said the Nusing staff was excelent! I would never take a loved one to this hospital!!

So I collapsed from severe pain and needed to go to a hospital, and I had only really been to Cape ER my whole life and I used to feel their treatment sucked. That was, of course, until I decided to go to Lee Memorial. I was brought back fairly quickly which was a pleasant surprise, but from there it only went downhill. I came in with severe tremors and muscle spasms where the pain resided in my back. Ive been having back problems now since July, and I needed to figure out what was going on. So I was sat in a bed in the hallway and given a gown to put on. I asked why I needed the gown and was informed "in case the doctor wants any tests done." And told to go to the bathroom and change. I had to walk to the bathroom when I could barely hold myself up! So I finally get the gown on, and lay in the bed awaiting the doctor. When the doctor comes by hes very rude and disrespectful, like his nurses, because I politely declined any vaccinations for medicines and requested not to have heavy painkillers administered. I dont like drugs nor do I do drugs. So 2 hours go by and the doctor comes back. He hands me 3 prescriptions of HEAVY DUTY DRUGS when I specifically asked him not to, and just shrugs me off stating, "well we could have fixed it with just a vaccine, but you wanted to play games." And was sent on my way... So now I still dont understand whats going on with me, because they didnt give me any tests... my friends and family in the medical field all tell me he treated me for drug addiction withdrawals but I told the doctor that I dont do drugs at all! So, wrapping this terrible nonfictional tale up, I was a victim of Malpractice at Lee Memorial Hospital ER, and am still gravely sick from it. This is the worst treatment Ive gotten from any doctor, to be told Im playing games when I have a phobia of needles. If anyone needs to ask me who this doctor was that treated me so badly, feel free to ask. If they want to publicly humiliated me and treat me like a pill popper, Its only fair to publicly disclose his horrific job educate.

This is the most disgusting hospital I have ever stayed at. I went here yesterday for severe chest pain and I was treated like a prison inmate. They stuck me on a cold prison-like hospital bed with no blanket and no pillow and left me there for hours alone, freezing. While I was in isolation on my bed with severe pain in my chest, the old nurse Barbra, or whatever her name was, was screaming and yelling and telling stories and joking around with the other staff members while there were sick and injured people around. She did the absolute worst IV I have ever had in my life, and I had bone cancer surgery last year so you can guess how many IVs Ive had! Blood was shooting everywhere and it hurt like you couldnt imagine, such an amateur/non caring job. Not to mention, they didnt even offer me any pain killers at all, not even anti inflamatories, nothing! So here I am, shivering, with severe chest pain, no blanket, on a cold prison bed with no pillow and shorts on and a t shirt... with a bloody arm and a really horrible haphazard IV... for hours. They did an ekg, and the PA came in and asked me questions, and then decided I had GERD... really? Ive had reflux before, this wasnt reflux. So she had GI medicine prescribed to me that Barbra was supposed to put into my IV... I didnt get that. Hours later, they finally got my test results back and of course they said I was fine. Then the PA asked "did the medicine do anything for the pain?" I told her I never got medicine, and then they gave it to me and sent me home, which that process took another hour just to give me Mylanta and take out the IV. did nothing, still severe chest pain, going to another hospital now. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!! EVEN IF YOU ARE DYING AND LIVE RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE HOSPITAL, DRIVE TO ANOTHER ONE!!!!

I left Lee Memorial after coughing in Tennessee for almost two months and having visited my local doctor and two at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for cardiac care. The latter recommended a high-resolution CT scan as soon as I returned to Knoxville after a vacation to south Florida. During a few days in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral my cough became unbearable and breathing was difficult on Saturday, December 26th my wife and I went to Lee Memorial, which was the best decision I could have made. We were quickly checked in, examined, and received a CT scan that revealed pneumonia in three lobes in two lungs. I was immediately put on IV antibiotics and saline solution which continued over four days, along with breathing treatments every four hours and consultation with two doctors every day. through all procedures we never waited in a waiting room and the staff operated as a flawless machine, efficient, courteous, and extremely responsive. I have been a patient in many hospitals in my life, more frequently as I grow older, and my wife and I marvel over our good fortune in choosing Lee General Hospital. All thanks go to Dr. Santiago Pena Baez, his superb staff, nurses Jason, Krista, Nikysha, Colleen, and the rest. Anyone who criticizes this hospital might go to the shiny marble panelled-glass palaces of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Medical Center and see what an all-for-show bunch of self-important but incompetent scoundrels can do to make a hospital into hell. Thank heaven we found Lee Memorial when we did. My wife and I know good health care when we see it and Lee Memorial Hospital gave us the best service that we have ever had. We now can plan trips to South Florida confident that great medical care will be available. We are very grateful!
