To write a review for Dr. Vilhauer and the practice, not sure how to do this, actually, I’m not sure how to write a review that fully reflects our experiences. It sort of like when you take a picture of the moon, look at the result on your phone and realize the image does not display the grandeur, all the craters, the stunning white, the size the clarity. That’s where I am with writing this review, it’s a simple snapshot that will not truly reflect my family’s experiences under the care of Dr.’s Vilhauer and Rosenberg, the nursing staff and the admin/reception team. The team is extremely knowledgeable, intuitive, competent, sensitive and loaded with common sense. See, while the team is all that I just listed it doesn’t say enough, so here is our story, it encapsulates the list. Its Fall, we are traveling back east, my 10 year old is feeling really yucky (this kid doesn’t usually complain) so we take her to the ER. ER Dr. diagnoses her with dehydration. Next day I call the Dr.V’s office, explain everything to the receptionist, she tells us we need to force fluids. Next day, I call again, I talk to one of the nurses, force fluids, pedialyte, make sure she is going to the restroom, follow our gut instincts, take her back to the ER if we are not comfortable (for some reason, that felt great to hear!) We fly back to OR, daughter is still feeling yucky, worse actually. Monday morning I call Dr.V’s, receptionist says to just come on in, and we do. We are brought back to an exam room, Nurse Diane comes in, “daughter looks pale, I’m going to do a quick blood test.” Pricks the finger, gets the blood she needs and heads out, Dr. V comes in, moments later, quick knock at the door … blood count is really really bad. Decision: ER, St. V’s….off we go. ER Dr. at St.V’s, Dr. Vilhauer has already spoken with him, they agree, one more blood test – things are worsening, off to Emanuel. Get to Emanuel, Dr.’s are waiting, Dr. Vilhauer has already spoken with them. More testing…. E. coli, acute kidney failure. My daughter survived the E.coli and the kidney failure, turns out if we waited the day she would not have woken up Tuesday morning. Dr. V gives credit to her reception staff and Nurse Diane. My husband and I, and our daughters, give credit to everyone at Dr. Vilhauer and Rosenberg office.

We stayed with our former pediatrician for five years before finally finding Dr. Vilhauer, whom we absolutely love. I felt more confident as a first time mom (still calling myself that 5 years later!) and more comfortable than I have ever felt being in my sons doctors office. She took the time and the care to listen to the concerns I had (including the concerns that I had regarding his former care, and how I needed a "teammate" in his medical care, not a "boss"), which was so extremely important to me as our son has had 3 surgeries in his life, and we had no support from his pediatrician (I was blown off as being a "crazy new mom" more or less) in getting to a specialist for any of those three issues that resulted in surgery (we went directly to a specialist with no referral for all three issues and I was immediately told -each time- that my instincts were spot on). We are very happy to have made this big change, and hope to have Dr. V as our doctor for the rest of his days as a kiddo. Big shout out to his nurse and everyone else we encountered at our visit - the entire team was wonderful!

I called to make an appointment to see a doctor for my 2 and a half yo since we just moved from out of state. Whoever answered the phone was unbelievably rude. I do not think any healthcare office with that kind of unprofessional attitude would make good atmosphere for the sick kids. I feel I am better off not going to this clinic. Just because you are not working at a retail store, that does not mean you do not have to provide a good customer service. Horrible!
