I am surprised about the bad reviews, to be honest. My guess is these are "shopper patients" who just go from place to place getting the best deal and/or stuff for free, even if it means complaining. (I work in customer service in alternative health care so Ive been the brunt of these experiences before.) Ive been to Downtown Dental several times, after starting as a new patient mid-July. I had the best experience ever, and I loved how everyone there was so in tune to making sure the entire appointment went smoothly. Dr. Christianson was honest and direct and gave me several options about the treatment I needed, including a "priority" list of what was urgent, what could wait, and what was optional (I had expressed interest in having some cosmetic improvements done to my front teeth.) I went there for a comprehensive exam - detailed work-up of whats going on in my mouth, and that is what I got. I never felt up-sold or pressured. When he reviewed my prior xrays/records/treatment recommendations from my previous dentist he was respectful and didnt bad-mouth the doctor, which is refreshing. All doctors want to keep their new patients and making a prior doctor look bad so the patient stays with them is a common practice. I like that he is trained and experienced in so many procedures so that almost all my work can be done there, and not between several specialist offices. The staff was funny and friendly and it was obvious they were well-trained. To top it off, he called me personally the day I had my extraction done to see how I was doing. I cannot recommend this place enough. Having had to look for a new dentist after my previous one retired, I was worried about change and they quickly turned that around for me. If youre looking for competent, honest, and comprehensive care, this is it.

I have had the worst experience here with their customer service. My partner recently went in to have X-rays and a cleaning done but decided to go somewhere else (a dental school) for the work that she needed after a consult. We had to pay $25 just to get them to email the X-rays to the dental school, after all of which they refused to call the dental school back when the X-rays were received in the wrong format. This sucked but was absolutely nothing compared to the horrible attitude I got from the woman who answered the phone when I called to ask about getting a refund. I never even got to mention wanting a refund since the X-rays didnt go through before she started berating me and insisting that Downtown Dental did "everything on their part" and "do you need proof?" that they sent an email to the dental school (which we were not informed about) and that "we only send the X-rays in jpeg and the dental school is the only place that doesnt take jpeg so its not our fault." If Downtown Dental KNEW that the dental school didnt take jpegs then they should have told us that before we PAID to have the X-rays transferred there! I am extremely disappointed and feel swindled out of my money. I would have been able to let it go if they hadnt been so extremely rude to me, though. Do not give them your service, there are plenty of other dentists who are much much better and have much nicer staff.

Do not go here! They will rip you off. The staff was snooty but the hygienist was nice. The dentist was condescending and I felt like he didnt care at all. He talked to me as if I was 4 years old and made me feel like I had horrible disgusting teeth. They told me I needed over $10,000 worth of dental work. I was completely shocked. I went to another dentist and they told me I only needed to have a broken filling fixed (which was why I went to the dentist to begin with) and that I have two areas that need to be watched but havent penetrated the enamel. When I told the 2nd dentist all the stuff that Downtown Dental said I needed he looked at me like I was completely crazy and said "Sounds like your previous dentist needed to put some food on the table" They also tried to charge me $25 for copies of my x-rays. Sorry Downtown Dental, I wont be padding your pockets.

My first visit with Downtown Dental Care went great! The receptionist was kind and friendly. I only had to wait in the waiting room for a few minutes before I was taken back to the dentist chair (which sat in front of a GORGEOUS view of Downtown Portland). Kim gave me my teeth cleaning and she did a GREAT job at making me feel comfortable. Dr. Kirk Christiansen came in afterwards and went over my teeth x-rays and checked out my teeth. He also did a great job with making me feel welcomed and cared for. All my questions were answered, all my needs were met. Id recommend them to anyone!

Lets just say I have been to a lot of Dentist in my lifetime and Dr. Kirk Christianson is the best dentist I have ever had. I have been seeing him for the past two years now and would recommend him to everyone who needs dental treatment. He is so kind, gentle, and very honest! His staff is just wonderful, kind caring girls in the office, they are always so nice to see you. I have limited income these days and they work with Care Credit which made it possible for me to make monthly payment interest free!!! I would highly recommend this office! Awesome!

I recently went back to Downtown Dental care for my 6 month cleaning. I originally started coming to the office because I was recommended to Dr. Bailey. There is a new dentist Dr. Christianson there now, which I loved. He is nice, understanding, and gives me several option for treatment not just the most expensive one. Everyone from the doctor, to the hygienist, and the front desk were friendly. I loved that I always get an estimate of what my patient portion will be for any treatment and a way to finance.I think this is a great office all around.

I have been going to this dentist office for about 7 or 8 years and although a little pricey at times it is deffinitley well worth it. They always explain exactly what is going on with my teeth and what they are doing. Their equipment is top of the line and their staff is awesome!! They even call me on my birthday :) I love that. I moved to Camas Washington w/ my husband a couple years ago and still maintain an excellent smile with Down Town Dental Care. Your teeth will get FIRST CLASS treatment w/out a doubt at Down Town Dental.

Very friendly, and comforting. I am very anxious when it comes to dental appointments/tx, however they did not make me feel bad, for what I consider an irrational fear that I have towards dental services- they were very understanding. I needed tx done asap as I am leaving town tomorrow, and they were willing to fit me in the schedule to make sure I could get rid of my discomfort before my vacation. I thought they all made what is a very stressful visit for me, that much more pleasant.

I had an excellent experience at Downtown Dental Care! I felt very welcomed and comfortable from the moment I walked in. Dr. Christainson really took the time to explain things to me so that I felt completely informed in my decision making. Everyone was very friendly and it was as though I had been going to the office for years. I know that the doctor and my hygienist care as much about keeping my teeth healthy as I do, and that means a lot to me!
