DO NOT go to this vet/clinic: Took our 7 month old puppy to get neutered at Hayden Meadows Pet Clinic, and was the epitome of horrible customer service coupled with a vet (DVM, Greg Castle) who did a botch-job operation. This is such a routine procedure that vets across the country have mobile neutering vans, yet Hayden Meadows treated us like second rate individuals, and completely neglected the care of our puppy. They were very informal to us upon dropping him off. On pickup, we had to ask them 5+ times what the care instructions were, as all the girls working in the office had no problem copping attitude, telling us how bad our adopted puppy had fleas (he did not, just dry skin) and being very ignorant with their use of words towards us, and regarding our pup; felt like we were surrounded by a freshman class of high schoolers. (They also did not even offer to send us home with a cone, as 99.9% of vets would) If the experience wasn’t bad enough, our pup started majoring licking and incessantly biting at his sutures as soon as we brought him home. We then went to petco to buy a cone. But the behavior didn’t stop, and in calling in to the clinic, they offered no advice and simply dismissed us again. We took our pup to another vet who was shocked at the exposed skin left on our pups neutering, and it could have been a lot worse. They had improperly sutured him, and led to an infection on such a routine procedure. The other vet offered us discounts if we would never return to Hayden Meadows Pet Clinic, and we won’t! Not worth it. Our dog and his health and safety is entirely too important to us to risk infection or anything worse!!!! DO NOT go to this clinic, absolute domino effect of negative events occurring one after the other!!!!!

Bad customer service. I have used this clinic off and on for years for my 4 cats and 1 dog. They have never been very helpful or friendly or seemed that interested in really helping my pets, but they are cheap and that is something. I take my animals there for routine calls that do not require a sophisticated diagnosis. I have referred friends to the clinic who have had the similar unfriendly experiences and have ceased going there. In the past they have been rude and unhelpful during emergencies. Unfortunately, today was the end for me and my family. Another vet clinic that I trust has tried calling in a prescription to this clinic for refill as the animal is a patient at both clinics. Hayden Meadows is more conveniently located to me. Hayden Meadows refused, citing an Oregon law that requires that the animal be examined within one year to refill prescriptions. This is a true law. And my pet has been seen recently by the other vet who offered to fax all records necessary to fill the prescription. Stubbornly reciting said law, they still refused saying that the dog needs to be seen by their vet only. What they fail to understand is that the policy of the clinic is not a state law and citing it as such is at the very least misinformation to clients. Misrepresentation of a justified state law to get an office visit fee out of clients is disingenuous. Nice job Hayden Meadows, in an effort to get another $35 you have alienated a long time client with a menagerie of pets.

Im not one to give a terrible review but I would like to inform breeders not to go here. Maybe even others, because of the unprofessional attitude of Dr. Castle.. I went today to get my 2.5 days old, 9 rottweiler pups tails docked and dewclaws removed. I told vet I wanted the tails short, to the AKC standard. Dr. Castle told me its too short. I told him I had a terrible experience with a vet cutting tails 3 times longer than they were supposed to be, so I was nervous. He said he wont do it that short (even though it is the AKC breed standard) because of possible nerve damage. So I said, okay, since Im not a vet and they know whats best. Then Dr. Castle said he wont cut them at all because I was nervous. I told him Id sign a waiver agreeing to how he wants them cut, but he still wouldnt do it! The receptionist, Adrianna, was AMAZING. Best one Ive met so far. She was the middle man the whole time and was trying so hard to help me. Even called other vets around to see if theres any openings on the weekends! She has such a big heart. So basically, dont trust dr. Castle. If he is acting this way towards this situation, it tells me a lot about his unprofessional attitude and who knows what will happen with other peoples situations. Hope this helps you make a better, informed decision of whether or not to go here.

i recently took my pitbull there to get spayed. i chose the clinic because of thier coupon thru the oregon spay neuter program. i like that they support the program, and it was a good deal. i was a little skeptical, about maybe the quality of care since the price was cheaper, but pretty much all checked out fine. the clinic itself seems a bit small, and as other people have mentioned, the front desk staff is a bit stand-offish, but hey, its a job like any other, cant really expect them to fawn over every animal that comes in. they were helpful and explained things well afterwords, so i really dont have any complaints. as far as the result of the spay, so far so good. all is healing well, the fact that they used a VERY small inscision is helping my girl heal up quick and get back to herself after only a couple of days! my only reccomendation for people on the same path as i. skip the post op pain shot (45$ optional). it did absolutley nothing for her pain.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I signed for those dissolvable sutures after getting my cat fixed, you know what I got? STAPLES.... in a less than 10 pound CAT. I got her back 3 hours after closing time because she was still "woozy/trying to wake up". I dropped her off in the MORNING. She was still heavily drugged up until midnight that same day. So not only did you guys put staples in my cat and over drug her I cant take any legal actions or receive money back for almost KILLING my cat because you had me sign the papers before getting her (which you had a worker of yours deliver her to me 3 hours after closing?? KK). Lesson learned on that one and another lesson learned to never take my animals to anymore ""clinics"" I would rather spend the extra dollar if it means knowing my animals are in good hands. P.S. cat ended up getting an infection from your stupid staples... why do you f**king staple a cat you psychopaths?!? FFS.

As a recent owner of a baby pug and new to pet ownership in Portland, OR, I am EXTREMELY pleased with Dr. Castle and his team at Hayden Meadows Pet Clinic. The warm welcome as soon as we entered the door assured me we selected the right clinic ("you never get a second chance to make a first impression"). The care in which Dr. Castle and team handled my puppy put away my fears that the entire visit would be filled with yelps and whines. Another plus of this clinic and team is their vast amount of knowledge and resources for new dog owners as myself. And to know that I can call them with any questions or concerns is a big relief, as Ive found the web info quite daunting and frightening at times. Thank you Hayden Meadows Clinic! 5 stars doesnt do you justice!
